@uffu I didn't get any side effect this time! A slightly sore arm, just enough to know I've been jabbed but that's it. After my second dose it was so sore I could barely move it for 24 hours! So definitely much milder effect this time. My husband didn't get anything either, and he felt rough and stayed in bed for a day after his second dose, but he had Moderna for his first two, I've had Pfizer for all three.

@Honeymint hello, that's funny as I feel exactly the same about the second dose being possibly responsible for my pregnancy! We were trying for two years and nothing and about to start IVF... then I had my second dose, my period came abnormally early a few days after, and that month I fell pregnant! I feel like maybe it just triggered something that caused me to ovulate or something. Not sure, could be a complete fluke/coincidence of course!

I did have a bit of a high temp too I think after second dose so I might ask about that when I get my booster. Good luck with yours and thanks for the message/reassurance! Xx

fattycatty82 · 14/12/2021 13:03

I managed to get my booster at a walk in this morning, although I did have to queue for a while. I feel so grateful though to have had it. It seems everyone is coming down with covid at the moment and I'm trying not to get too worried about it all but I'm definitely reducing my social contact and even debating if I should carry on going to my gym 😭 hopefully now with the booster it's unlikely I'll become very ill if I do catch it but I'd be gutted if I couldn't attend my scan because I caught it. When I fell pregnant in the summer I genuinely and naively thought this was all behind us.... I used to say to my partner while watching the news, thank god we don't have children to worry about with all this going on!

robyna · 14/12/2021 14:22

@Honeymint @Sarah239 I feel the same. I've had 4 miscarriages and when I was asked what I did differently this time the only thing I could think of is that I had the covid jab!

ReiRiko · 14/12/2021 14:59

Hey ladies, hope all is well with your May babies! We recently found out our baby is a boy at 16 weeks but I've heard so many stories about people having the opposite gender pop out 😂 not that I mind but it will be a shock if the scan was wrong. Will they confirm baby gender at the 20 week scan? I've got this at the beginning of January. Also a bit terrified about abnormalities. It's my first pregnancy so I'm not sure how often abnormalities happen. Also considering that I have PCOS, not sure if this will affect our miracle baby

Sarah239 · 14/12/2021 17:01

Hi @ReiRiko ! I think they will give their opinion on the sex at the 20 week scan if you ask them to and if they can see. It's not a guarantee ofc but if both say boy that's probably pretty likely!
I understand your anxiety about abnormalities... I am anxious about it too. Think we just have to wait and see, hope for the best and reassure ourselves with the knowledge that it's not common. Abnormalities come in all varying degrees too so something classed as "abnormal" in a statistic/report could actually be very minor! 🤞

@robyna it's funny isn't it! I'm not a skeptic or anything but it does make you think maybe the immune response triggered some effect! Well I'm certainly not complaining 😅

I have been a bit nervous (what's new?!) over past couple of days as had been feeling baby move over the last week (17w) and now it feels like it's massively reduced (18w). I rang midwife for reassurance (first time I had used phone line) and she immediately reassured me they don't really worry about that until 24 weeks as pattern is hard to establish before than and baby is small. She said you could feel something and then go a week without feeling anything else. I expect baby is just in a different position.

Sarah239 · 14/12/2021 17:05

And yes @fattycatty82 I feel the same... I did think there might be an increase in cases over the winter but I didn't imagine things would get so stark again as they are warning now. It does seem everyone is getting ill around me! I have come to the conclusion now that I think it's better to be safer than sorry probably from now til end of Jan. Even though you can't really control it and could still be unlucky, I think for myself would just feel so guilty with myself if I felt I had taken an unnecessary risk and ended up catching it!

I am really hoping that by our due dates in spring, things will be a bit calmer again though! Feel sorry for anyone due in Dec/Jan, must be really scary.

uffu · 14/12/2021 19:05

@GinnyBee thank you, that's a relief! I'm glad yours was milder. After my second jab I was pretty spaced out, like a bad trip- reality went bendy. I'd really rather not experiencing that again! I'll get my booster once I'm back as it's after 5 months here.

@robyna @Sarah239 @Honeymint I also got pregnant after my second jab. Less than a month after. Mine was an implanted embryo but considering my age and other factors, it wasn't expected to stick. There's a number of people on ivf boards that are saying the same about increased fertility and I think (can't promise this is correct- I read it a while ago) some initial medical documents which are supporting the idea.

itssquidstella · 14/12/2021 19:10

This is so interesting! I had my second jab at the end of July and got pregnant at the end of august - fourth pregnancy but first one that looks like it's going to stick. Will be fascinated to know if there's a genuine correlation!

Sarah239 · 14/12/2021 19:39

Wow I'm amazed how many of us there are in the same position! That's so interesting!

Sarah239 · 14/12/2021 19:42

I suppose timing wise, many of us would have had our second doses in August due to when the eligibility happened, and most of us would have fallen pregnant in August, so I suppose in that sense it's not surprising many of us had our second dose before falling pregnant (or we wouldn't be on this thread!) but interesting if there is lots of us pregnant after a long period of ttc

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/12/2021 20:38

I had my 2nd jab end of July and fell pregnant in August, we had been trying for over a year. I wonder if it was a factor? I was more worried about it causing issues rather than causing pregnancies! Lol

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/12/2021 20:39

I'm getting seriously worried about covid now and feel like everyone knows someone who's got it, even if they're not ill with it being over weight and of course pregnant myself I can't help but worry. I've cancelled a couple of plans this weekend just to be on the safe side but still sending my daughter to nursery as I need to work. It's a tough call.

GinnyBee · 14/12/2021 20:59

I don't think the covid jab had anything to do with me getting pregnant, as it has taken us about 3-4 cycles to catch each time, and it was the same for this pregnancy. Never had any issues GETTING pregnant, it's the STAYING pregnant that has been a problem, and this time I had help from progesterone, aspirin, and statistics, so I don't credit the jabs at all.

@Bubbasmama2017 Same! In all of first lockdown I didn't know anyone directly who had it, and only two people who had contact with someone and had to isolate. Then in the second full lockdown I knew one person who had it, and now I know three who have had it recently! I'm so glad to have had the booster now, as well as working from home.

fattycatty82 · 14/12/2021 21:17

It's a nightmare really on top of everything else we have to worry about! I'm going to stop watching the news. Convinced I'll have to self isolate or my partner will and I'll miss my scan on Xmas eve

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/12/2021 21:32

@fattycatty82 yes that's my worry too as mine is the 23rd I feel like I won't be able to relax until I know we can go to the scan that morning.
I hope they don't change the rules last minute and stop partner's coming in I'll be gutted to go alone to that one

TashieWoo · 14/12/2021 21:55

Evening ladies - just a little update as I’ve been rather anxious about not feeling any proper movements yet… I had my 20 week scan this afternoon at 20+2 and baby girl is growing well, no clear anomalies and average size and weight for gestation, no concerns at all 💗. I am so relieved and I have promised DP that I will try to enjoy the pregnancy now, and not get so anxious. I also had my whooping cough vaccine today and have my covid booster next Wednesday.

I have also bought NCT membership and booked the classes, starting at the end of Feb!

Hope you’re all well xx

TashieWoo · 14/12/2021 22:00

In terms of covid safety, I’m working from home as they’ve closed our office again and I’m not socialising in big groups or seeing those who aren’t vaccinated - we we’re meant to go to a wedding reception last weekend but I declined the invite as I knew some anti vaxxers who were going, and I won’t be seeing some family members this Christmas as they aren’t vaccinated.

I start a new job at the beginning of January and I will go into the office (central London) if I need to, but they are sending my IT equipment home, and they are mainly working from home anyway.

I haven’t heard anything about antenatal appointments being cancelled so hopefully my 24 week appointment in January will still go ahead.

Sarah239 · 14/12/2021 22:35

Congratulations @TashieWoo ! I spoke to midwife today and she said it is normal not to feel much until 24 weeks. They only start to worry after 24 weeks. If everything is looking good I am sure you will feel something in the next few weeks :) hope you do manage to enjoy things now xx

KMHH · 14/12/2021 23:01

Hiiii!! Hope everyone is well 😊

Just wondering if anyone has or is feeling stabbing pains and dull aches on the sides and sometimes on tummy, some days it's worse than others and it's not constant but just really uncomfortable at times especially when I stand up and sometimes it feels like my back at the bottom is going to snap when I stand up 🙈. I'm 18 +2 . I know about round ligament pains just wanted to know if anyone is experiencing them also or has done x

autumn321 · 15/12/2021 05:52

@KMHH hi lovely! I have been feeling this too. I'm 17 weeks today and found it so hard to explain what I was feeling! The pain I felt was kind of above where my hip bones are, and then the dull ache was under the bump! Like you it's not a constant thing it came and went over the weekend and seems to be ok at the moment xx

fattycatty82 · 15/12/2021 08:35

@TashieWoo that's so nice to hear, I hope you can relax now and enjoy it 😊 I plan to book my NCT classes too as soon as I've had my scan... and buy all the baby clothes in the sales! 😂

GinnyBee · 15/12/2021 08:48

I had an awful day yesterday! Anyone else suddenly get a surge of hormones around 18 weeks? I've been feeling a bit dodgy in the evenings all week really, but yesterday the hangover was already with me from morning, I sorely needed a nap after lunch and when I woke up I felt dreadfully tired and wobbly. Then just continued feeling super uncomfortable, and irrationally angry at everything. Like I actually cried because the sheets I'd washed weren't dry yet, and I had to get a "stale" set from the wardrobe. It was the most hormonal I've felt all pregnancy! By the time I went to bed I was feeling sweaty and headachey too.

Hope you're all feeling better than I was!

fattycatty82 · 15/12/2021 09:05

Yep. Combined with covid, Christmas and relentless work tasks I've been a mess too, emotional, up and down and angry like extreme PMT! Also argued with my partner twice this week and we never argue. I have the nesting instinct bad and getting very frustrating that he won't sort his s**t, I mean stuff, out ASAP. Way too much clutter in this house, mostly his. Told him there's no room for a baby if he holds on to every single piece of rubbish he has owned since 1990 😩😡

So yeah, you're not alone x

Sarah239 · 15/12/2021 12:42

Eventful morning...I was standing at my standing desk during a work Zoom call for about 20 mins and I have just passed out :/ scary! I felt suddenly sick, got spots in my vision, reached for my chair behind me, apparently didn't make it and ended up on the floor. Next thing I know I'm lying on floor staring at ceiling and can hear them saying "Is she ok? Who shall we ring?" Etc. Luckily they saw it so they know it was only a few seconds and I am pretty sure I didn't bump anything. So strange, I have never fainted before in my life!

I rang midwife triage and she said it's common at this stage of pregnancy and if it's a one off it's ok but if it happens again to contact GP or them again.

She thinks it was a combination of me standing up for a while/not drinking enough this morning/not eating enough. Recommended wholemeal foods and slow release carbs. I am craving sugar atm but my body probably needs more nourishment than jelly babies and sweets give it!

I actually remember a couple of vlogs I've seen where people have spoken about similar things happening to them around this time of pregnancy.

Take care of yourselves ladies! Now parked on sofa resting for rest of day! X
