@LemonSwan I had my booster three weeks ago. I figured it was just best to get it done as soon as I could book it, and I have a DD in nursery so not able to completely avoid exposure. If you are able to wfh and minimise social contact then waiting for a bit might be fine.

I'm still planning to travel to the US to see DH's family in the next couple of weeks - flights and apartment are all booked. Fully prepared for it to be cancelled though if restrictions don't allow us, or if one of our pre-flight tests turns out positive. But DH's parents haven't seen my DD in over 2 years (and she's only 3), so I feel like we have to take the opportunity.

@aNewYorkerInLondon those exercises sound helpful, thanks. Luckily not experiencing too much pain so far. I'm walking at least 4 miles a day doing the nursery run, and more at weekends. I haven't switched to side sleeping yet as it was recommended for after 28 weeks.

Bubbasmama2017 · 09/12/2021 17:35

@morphe I was worrying about side sleeping too as my hips are in agony some days and I seem to wake up on my back a lot. I'm trying to just sleep however I can at the moment and will change after Christmas I think and get my pregnancy pillow out.

I've been worrying about covid too, we have my family nearby but partners family is a plane ride away and I'd be gutted if they couldn't meet baby straight away. Also worry how the hospital will handle father's being on the ward I hope we will have their support after the baby is born.

Sarah239 · 09/12/2021 17:46

I had my 2nd jab late August (2 weeks before I fell pregnant!) so was thinking I'd get my booster 6 months after in early Feb.

I'm the same in that I want to try and "time it" but immunity won't disappear overnight (I think Pfizer is better at lasting than AZ, not sure about Moderna) so I will try and have it in late Jan/early Feb I guess. The paranoid part of me wants to wait until fetal viability at 24 weeks but I think just getting it ASAP is equally sensible too! We are going to CP

Just going to shield as much as poss until then. Made the decision last night not to attend my work Christmas party :/ bit gutted as I'm the only one not going but I feel it would be irresponsible of me to risk it just because I wanted a night out. Everyone I've spoken to seems to think it's a wise decision.

I've booked NCT in March and I'm really hoping that continues in person and doesn't transition back online! Bloody covid!

Felt some more flicks/flutters/pops today though which I think makes up for it 🥰

Bubbasmama2017 · 09/12/2021 21:26

@Sarah239 I feel something very small every couple of days but can't wait to feel proper kicks!

Jowd92 · 10/12/2021 06:44

Hi all hope everyone is doing well I had my gender scan last night and we found out we are expecting a baby girl very big smiles all around in my household also had my midwife appointment and heard the heartbeat everything seems to be a bit more real now and my other kids are so happy, suffering with my back and hips again I suffered with spd in my last pregnancy with my son going to try a support band for my bump again as that helped a lot last time along with hydrotherapy

GinnyBee · 10/12/2021 07:40

Congrats @Jowd92 !!

We have our scan tomorrow and I'm now questioning all my opinions about whether to tell anyone! I used to be very sure I didn't want anyone else knowing, but now I'm not so sure how important that is. We're 117% not discussing names with anyone, I don't want anyone knowing nor do I want anyone's opinions on it, but maybe we could tell people the gender? I deffo don't want gendered stuff even though we're finding out, so if we do tell we have to be very clear with grandparents and great-grandparents (in particular!) that we don't want blue and pink.

How are you all booking your booster jabs? The NHS website is only allowing people over 40 or high risk to book, which I am neither but want to get mine asap! If I turned up at a walk-in centre would they send me home?

@GinnyBee I'm 39 and last jab 5 and a half months ago I've been turned away from two walk in centre now, one at my local hospital. They spent a long time deliberating about whether I could have it but decided I'd have to come back when I'd been a full six months since last jab which is now early jan. This was two days ago. I do know friends my age who have managed to get it at at guys in London if you're anywhere near there and it does seem a bit pot luck so could always still try?

fattycatty82 · 10/12/2021 08:19

@Jowd92 congratulations 🥳 It must be amazing knowing what you're having! I can't wait

Orangessunshine · 10/12/2021 08:43

I’ve heard the booster will be available to all over the 18’s in the next couple of weeks.(who have been doubled jabbed over 3 months ago)

Hope this goes towards helping putting minds at rest.

MissM94 · 10/12/2021 11:43

@GinnyBee just out of curiosity, why don't you want gendered items of clothing? I'm guessing you mean you don't want blue or pink outfits?

GinnyBee · 10/12/2021 12:28

@MissM94 I don't like them. I don't like the whole 'blue for boys' and 'pink for girls' thing at all, and don't like to impose gender stereotypes on the baby.

I am getting a bit emotional with the christmas things thinking this time next year we will be a little family! I am so excited.

fattycatty82 · 10/12/2021 16:47

@Luckygreenduck awwww I know!!! I'm the same. Although some days I still feel terrified and like, what have I done? 😂 most of the time I'm super excited and happy x

MissM94 · 10/12/2021 17:32

@GinnyBee ahh that's fair enough. I found it so hard to find neutral clothing, the space for them is so tiny in most shops, hopefully you had better look than I did!

MissM94 · 10/12/2021 17:32

@GinnyBee luck* 🙈

LemonSwan · 10/12/2021 17:54

Thanks @morphe & @fattycatty82

Luckygreenduck · 10/12/2021 18:24

@fattycatty82 oh I definitely feel like as well. I keep planning holidays and trips and then remembering we will have a baby! It is going to be a huge lifestyle change but hopefully worth it :)

MissM94 · 10/12/2021 18:58

@Luckygreenduck omg same! We have certain annual events and I'm like omg at the next one we'll have a newborn! So excited, waited my whole life to be a mum I'm still in shock and we're all nearly half way through our pregnancies 😂😂

morphe · 10/12/2021 22:29

@GinnyBee I'm over 40 so I was able to book on the NHS site. I'm sure it will open up for bookings for everyone soon.

We started off with neutral clothes for DD, but nowadays the majority of her clothes are hand me downs from my sister who has two girls. They're more girly than I'd choose, but good quality so I'm not going to turn them down! It was quite hard to find neutrals for her - she wore a lot of white in the early days (and she's always had short hair so I often got complimented on having a handsome little boy!)

@fattycatty82 I'm definitely having those 'What have we done?' feelings. I already have a preschooler but she's so independent now, it's going to be a bit of shock to go back to nappies and breastfeeding. I booked a follow-up dentist appointment the other day for May next year without thinking, then realised I'll have to rebook it as I'll be recovering from my c-section then!

GinnyBee · 11/12/2021 06:14

@MissM94 I haven't been shopping yet so don't know tbh! I'm originally from Finland where neutrals are all over the place so just assumed it would be easy enough. I'll be so annoyed if that's not the case! I'll have to get all my family and friends to send me stuff 😂

OP posts:
Bubbasmama2017 · 11/12/2021 09:11

@GinnyBee I find h&m aren't too bad for neutral colours or newbie. Sometimes just buying something in the boys section is more of a neutral colour as well.

uffu · 11/12/2021 09:46

Can I join? I'm due on the 24th May but I've been told I'll probably be induced at the start due to my age (41) and issues when pregnant with my daughter.
I fluctuate between being exited and terrified. I'm a single mum (long story which involves an arse hole ex, ivf, law changes and a lot of legal fees) and in a different country (not UK) from my family so that's an additional worry.

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/12/2021 11:07

Welcome @uffu !

hwp22 · 11/12/2021 17:13

@aNewYorkerInLondon - thanks very much for the stretching tips - very useful. I spoke with the midwife at my 16 week appt about it and she has referred me for physio which is great think they will also give me some exercises too! I’m aware it’s going to get worse not better but I want to manage / limit the pain as much as possible!

hwp22 · 11/12/2021 17:21

Evening! Had my 16 week scan yesterday - all went really well and we had our babies checked from head to toe! Such a relief that all was OK! I had a mc at 15 weeks last year and it was truly devastating. So I now feel a bit more relaxed! They told us the gender (95% sure!!) that we are having a Boy and a Girl! 💖💙 I’m over the moon! ❤️❤️ And feel incredibly blessed. Xx
