@hwp22 awww that’s wonderful, congratulations 🥰 xx

GinnyBee · 11/12/2021 18:09

That's amazing @hwp22 !

I had a gender scan today too and it's a boy! I had a feeling it would be as literally everyone we know with small children has boys. Odd, isn't it!

Now scouring boy name lists and can't find anything we like 😂needs to work in both English and Finnish but we want to steer clear of super common ones that he'd have five friends with the same name. Nightmare!

Amazing news, one of each how amazing @hwp22 💖💙

Congrats on your little boy @GinnyBee 💙

I booked a private scan today so my mom could see our baby, she's not seen anything other than a scan pic but I wanted her to see the little movements as she's not seen a scan in person since she had me 26 years ago! We got to see baby waving and confirmed that she's definitely a girl so I feel happier buying little girly things for her now that 2 scans have confirmed.

itssquidstella · 11/12/2021 19:06

@GinnyBee congratulations! I know a half-Finnish Alan, apparently it works in Finnish as well as English.

EastMidsGem · 11/12/2021 19:31

Congratulations @GinnyBee 🥰 xx

Anyone else nervous for their 20 week scan? Mines on Friday

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/12/2021 21:06

@eastmidsgem yep so nervous! Mine is 10 days away. Looking forward to seeing the baby again but worried something will be wrong as not feeling any movements now.

EastMidsGem · 11/12/2021 21:31

@Bubbasmama2017 I have felt movements now, just flutters really like I’m at the top of a rollercoaster! Sometimes just fleeting and then sometimes for a good 5 minutes. But it’s not every day and not necessarily at the same time. I do worry that I’m imagining it sometimes

fattycatty82 · 11/12/2021 22:26

@hwp22 congratulations 🥰 one of each how perfect

I am just excited about my 20 week scan, it's so hard waiting to find out the gender I sometimes think I'll book a private one last minute and just drive down there and find out I'm so desperate to know now!

I've just got back from a Christmas meal, I wasn't sure if I should go because of covid but it's the only outing in a group I'll have now and I was so desperate to dress up a bit and socialise. I have to say it was just hard work! I felt shattered, had to get my desert put in a doggy bag and everyone was so loud my head hurts! Think my partying days are well and truly over now 😂

Positive21 · 12/12/2021 00:12

Congratulations to everyone getting their good news and gender results etc!!

Anyone else 1st pregnancy and starting to feel movements? I think I am but I'm scared to believe it because of my anxiety, I worry I'm imagining it! I'm 18+3 but felt it at 18 weeks.

LS2020 · 12/12/2021 04:58

Lovely hearing of everyone’s gender scans ❤️

@EastMidsGem I am which is ridiculous as I had a scan last week and everything was fine! Mines 8 days away now so hoping will go quick.

@fattycatty82 our Xmas meal is Friday and im feeling similar, I plan to dine and dash. Was out with a few friends on Friday and they had a DJ in the restaurant (why?!) but looking at all the young dressed up women those days are deffo behind me 😂😂

@Positive21 I’m pretty sure I’ve started to feel stuff the last week - little bubbles popping that are too much for gas?!

Well pregnancy insomnia has hit, been up since 3.30 and my belly has been so sore, can’t get comfortable at all 😩

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/12/2021 07:04

@ls2020 I know the feeling! I can easily over do it by not doing much at all and feel like I've pulled something in my stomach

TashieWoo · 12/12/2021 07:27

@EastMidsGem my 20 week scan is on Tuesday and I’m so worried, to be honest I’ve felt a bit down and anxious for the last couple of weeks, I think it’s because I’m not feeling regular movements and I’m just always concerned that the baby isn’t doing well, I think DP is getting a bit fed up with my negativity too.

I know that if the appointment goes well I’ll be so relieved, and I haven’t had any negative symptoms like pain or bleeding, so I’m clinging onto that.

Hope you’re all well Smile

TashieWoo · 12/12/2021 07:29

Or to be honest, I’m not sure I’m feeling any movements! This is my first baby so I’m not overly confident with knowing what I should be feeling, I have a posterior placenta so thought I’d be feeling something by now - 20 weeks today.

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/12/2021 07:52

@tashiewoo I feel exactly the same just clinging on til the 20 week scan in 10 days and hoping it shows baby is ok so I can relax for a bit I know I'll want another scan in Feb or march it's so long to go without seeing baby otherwise!
Also been worrying more and more about catching covid, I'm torn between doing Christmas things for my daughter to make it special but also wanting to be away from people and shops/pubs to keep us safe

GinnyBee · 12/12/2021 08:38

@Positive21 I'm a first timer and I think I can sometimes feel little taps. Not 100% certain, I've felt them a few days but can't reliably tell whether it's just gas or something else! Only in the morning when I'm lying in bed. I'm 17+5 now and have an anterior placenta, so not necessarily expecting to feel anything.

@LS2020 Me too! This past week I've been waking up between 4-5am and unable to go back to sleep. I had this in first trimester too, 2-3 nights in a week when I'd be up since 3am but hardly ever consecutive, but this week it's been every frickin' morning!

@EastMidsGem Slightly nervous, even though I just had the gender scan yesterday! But baby keeps measuring bigger every scan so I'm keen to see how much further along we'll be at 20 weeks. By this rate I'll have a giant baby at 36 weeks or something!

@TashieWoo I’m 20 weeks tomorrow with my first baby (had MMC in May) I only just started feeling movements in the last week or so and like I say, I sometimes wonder if I’m imagining it!

Cleocat18 · 12/12/2021 08:56

Hello! Xmas Smile
First time posting here! Due end of May and FTM. Just had a little question, and was wondering if anyone else was having the same thing. Over the last week my skin has gotten really itching basically everywhere, belly, tops of legs, arms, back. I’ve read that if it’s hand and feet it could a pregnancy related liver problem, but is anyone else’s skin just feeling more itchy? I have sort of little red dots where it’s itching and I’m looking like a dot to dot! My 16 week apt is Tuesday so I will ask the midwife but just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing a similar thing.

GinnyBee · 12/12/2021 09:17

@Cleocat18 My skin has gone really dry in the past few weeks, and dryness causes itching. I often get a bit of dryness in the winter, but now it's mad! I used to have a dry skin when I was younger but then when I was on the mini pill it changed to oily, now seems to be back to dry even though I haven't been on the pill for 1.5 years!

I'm a first time mum too... over the last week I've gradually become more confident that what I'm feeling are in fact movements. They totally do feel like air bubbles or little taps, but it's the fact that they make me think about them in a way I haven't before ("ooh, was that a movement?") that reassured me that they are. And also the fact that they are normally in the same area (along the line where the top of my underwear is). I just love feeling them! Hope everyone gets to soon ❤️

I'm not sure where my placenta is - it wasn't mentioned in my 12 week scan and don't think it's on my notes but I assume as I'm only 17+6 that it's probably not on the front otherwise I wouldn't be feeling it yet.

Sometimes I also feel like my bump is raised more on one side! Normally it's the right but this morning it was the left and I think that must be baby too! It's so weird but amazing!

11 days til my anatomy/sex scan on Christmas Eve 🤞🤞🤞 Can't wait! At the moment my concern is how much sugar I'm eating but I'm craving it so much! Always had a sweet tooth so this was always going to be a problem but feeling pretty guilty. But I really don't want to get gestational diabetes or have a large baby at birth (apparently too much sugar can cause both!)

Also going to try booking my covid booster as I'm eligible from tomorrow as over 30! Nervous about it but feel confident it's the safest thing to do for me and baby.

My mum sent me this earlier which helped my decision www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/2021-02-24-combined-info-sheet-and-decision-aid.pdf

EastMidsGem · 12/12/2021 19:38

@Sarah239 I was wondering whether I should go ahead tomorrow and book in for my booster and that is very helpful thank you. I’m definitely going to book it now

robyna · 12/12/2021 19:46

I've been feeling very strong movements for the past 3 or 4 days, proper jabs but only ever on my left or right side or lower down. When I went for the scan they said I have an anterior placenta which surprised me as I've felt flutters for a few weeks now.

robyna · 12/12/2021 19:47

@@Sarah239 my partner is 31 and he's managed to book his today, I think they've said from tomorrow but you can actually book now

fattycatty82 · 12/12/2021 20:00

Just managed to book mine but earliest I could get was December 23

Sarah239 · 12/12/2021 20:10

@fattycatty82 @robyna I have tried twice today but got an error twice (I expect it was busy) and probably going to be busier now after the PM statement... will keep trying though, thank you!

fattycatty82 · 12/12/2021 20:13

Listening to Boris on TV a minute ago he said the NHS will be busy with boosters so other appointments might be cancelled.... oh my I'll be absolutely gutted if my scan is cancelled!!! Noooooo
