Hello ladies! Haven't posted since this moved over to the next thread but so lovely to see so many nice updates.

I've been getting backache, and sneezing lots (and pains when I sneeze!). Also still not really showing but can feel my stomach feels firmer (under the fat 😅).

Had my 16 week appointment on Friday and got to hear baby's heartbeat again but I'm confused, so many people saying it's the first time they've heard it, but I heard it at my 8 week private scan and my 12 week nhs scan?

We aren't finding out but I feel so sure it's a boy 🥰

Hope you are all doing well! Definitely agree on the exercise/motivation front but I'm still exhausted 🤦🏼‍♀️

robyna · 28/11/2021 12:16

@Positive21 different hospitals have different Doppler policies. I know quite a few that don't offer a Doppler at appointments in case they have to refer for a scan. I heard mine at 8 weeks private scan and at the gender scan too.

Also I was convinced we were having a boy, I even bet my partner I was adamant! Definitely a girl at the scan yesterday, no mistaking it

rach1stbaby · 28/11/2021 12:49

Hi all, I'm due May 5th 💕
Just wanted to relate to @Elsie2021 because I'm 17 weeks 3 days and my 'bump' is tiny. I feel like I'm not growing at all, so also convinced that baby has stopped growing. I'll attach a pic, not sure my bump is normal, it is my first though.
Constantly getting comments saying I'm really small so it's really getting to me now. My next scan is on Thursday so fingers crossed everything's fine, the wait has been killing me.
Previous scans have been great and baby super active and good heart beat so trying to focus on that 🤞🏻❤️

@robyna is your first name the same as your username? If so me too! Spelt the same too 😂

Ah ok that makes sense, I know a lot varies from trust to trust.

We aren't finding out but I'm excited. If it's a boy then I'll be happy I was right and if it's a girl I'll be happy because it was unexpected!

So far my MIL and dad say girl, my friend, OH and I get boy vibes so we shall see 🥰

GinnyBee · 28/11/2021 14:11

@fattycatty82 When I told my coach about the pregnancy I said I'm doing a 40-week bodybuilding program that women sometimes do, and the first part has been shit. It took him a while to catch on what I was saying. 😂

Inspired by the self-loathing this morning I took the dog for a nice 2.5h walk right after breakfast. Feel a bit better about my lazy ass now, although it's not the same as strength training! I'm scared my muscles will shrivel away 😂

@rach1stbaby I think with your first it isn't unusual to only start showing after you're already half way, so 20 weeks!

@GinnyBee I’ve found exercise increasingly difficult in the last month or so (I’m 15 weeks) - I’m slower when I run and can't push myself as hard on the spin bike. I’ve also had an insatiable appetite so I’m worried about gaining weight!

But, I’m trying not to stress about it - my body's priority now is growing a healthy baby, and I'll be able to work on getting my fitness back once he's here. As long as I can maintain a decent base level of fitness and not gain weight excessively, it'll be fine. It's hard as someone who has always been really body-conscious, but I’m trying to go with the flow!

Bubbasmama2017 · 28/11/2021 18:05

I feel like bump is quite big some days but this is my 2nd and I showed quite early with my first some friends haven't shown until 20 weeks. The midwife said my uterus seems quite high up so might be why??
We had our gender scan and are having another baby girl so pleased! My daughter and as very excited

YummyMummyXoX · 29/11/2021 09:18

Congrats @robyna is this your first? I still can't believe I'm having a girl after my boy x

robyna · 29/11/2021 16:51

@Positive21 it's not my first name but it is a relatives name, we did consider it as our baby's name too so it's on our list! I was the same, I was happy with either a boy cause then I'd be right or a girl because then it's surprised me 😂

@YummyMummyXoX yes she's my first 😊 I've had previous miscarriages though but this is our first that made it to the heartbeat stage

Positive21 · 29/11/2021 18:30

@robyna well I think it's a lovely name 😉

@GinnyBee that's quite funny! @itssquidstella you still sound incredibly fit!

I've really struggle too with shift work and generally feeling very lethargic and weak when it comes to weight training. And going for a walk is off the cards, especially given the weather, which I know is terrible but I have quite a busy lifestyle so trying to add in a daily walk means almost no time for me to sit and breathe for a second. Like you, I'm trying not to worry or beat myself up about it.

Sarah239 · 29/11/2021 20:20

@rach1stbaby I am 16 weeks and my bump is smaller than yours... I can definitely see a bump though with you! I agree with others, I think it takes longer than you expect especially with your first! Don't be too disheartened, looks completely normal to me!

Sarah239 · 29/11/2021 20:22

Really hoping I get to hear heartbeat at 16 week appt on Thurs but feel like they will almost certainly not offer it as standard. I haven't heard it yet, but been satisfied and grateful just to see it at scans. But as I won't get to see anything on Thurs, it would be really nice to have some reassurance! I suppose the counter is if the midwife can't find it and then that's just more stressful and anxiety-inducing... would also be sad to hear it without my husband being there too!

YummyMummyXoX · 29/11/2021 21:53

Awh I'm m so happy you have gotten to this stage after previous losses.
I got to hear heartbeat at midwife app 16 weeks I wasn't expecting to have them to have the time or patience tbh but the midwife was lovely x

aNewYorkerInLondon · 29/11/2021 22:58

I think I just felt baby for the first time!!

It was like a little nudge on the lower left side of my tummy, then again about 5-7 seconds later. 🥰

I'm 17+5 today. Is that about right?

morphe · 29/11/2021 23:25

@aNewYorkerInLondon I'm 18w now and I've been feeling a shift from vague flutters/indigestion to more like slight shifts in the past week. Not my first baby so it's unmistakeable.

@rach1stbaby your bump looks normal for your first, mine didn't show till about 7 months with my first. This is my third and my bump is just starting to look more like a bump and less like general podge, although at the moment I'm mostly dressed in a thick winter coat and it doesn't show through that!

Bumblebee1119 · 30/11/2021 01:04

Hi all, due second baby in May 2022.
When I had my first child I went through the pregnancy all on my own. This time obviously it is different as my partner is there for me. However, my question is... how involved are your partners? Do they attend every appointment regarding the baby? Xx

Jowd92 · 30/11/2021 06:15

Congratulations to all on finding out the sex of there baby I’m so excited for mine next week I can’t wait!! And I also have midwife next week and hopefully get to hear the heart beat fingers crossed, my bump is quite noticeable and no mistaking it but this is baby number 5 for me so it’s all already stretched anyway haha! Struggling with my back and hips a bit I suffered with spd in my last pregnancy so expecting it again this time around this time it’s earlier, @Bumblebee1119 congratulations and my partner doesn’t get to come to any of my appointments as we have other children and they aren’t allowed in so I go alone it’s not all that bad to be honest I’m used to it now

LS2020 · 30/11/2021 06:51

@aNewYorkerInLondon how exciting! I’ve been getting anxious as all my apps have been saying I should be feeling flutters this week - I’m 16+6 and don’t think I’ve left anything other than gas?!

@Bumblebee1119 my partner is pretty good and enjoying my pregnancy with me, think he wants to feel useful but he’s only really come to the scan appointments with me, I think he’d do midwife ones if I asked but apart from the heartbeat at 16 week one, he would have been super bored!

@Jowd92 I’m on first baby and my managers comment yesterday was wow you popped 🙄😂

EastMidsGem · 30/11/2021 07:15

I’m 18 weeks today and I haven’t felt any movements yet ☹️ My midwife said it can take until 20 weeks for your first… I hope that’s right

TashieWoo · 30/11/2021 07:37

I’m 18+2 and haven’t felt any movements yet, not going to lie I know it’s early but it has started to worry me a bit. I had a gender scan on Saturday and baby was moving a lot then and was healthy (was a well-being scan as well) but I don’t understand how I can have something that’s 15cm long moving around in my stomach and I can’t feel it! The sonographer did say it could be up to 24 weeks for a first pregnancy though, and although I’m not that overweight (size 12) I do have a bit of belly fat too.

robyna · 30/11/2021 07:38

@TashieWoo you could also have an anterior placenta, it's really common and means you might not feel movement til about 20+ weeks

TashieWoo · 30/11/2021 07:39

@Bumblebee1119 my partner comes to them all, but couldn’t make the 16 week appointment as we were having work done at home. He wants to be as involved as he can. Best wishes for your pregnancy x

TashieWoo · 30/11/2021 07:41

Thanks @robyna - I’ve been told I have a posterior placenta so should hopefully feel something soon. Trouble is I have so many other feelings around there - trapped wind (have really suffered with my stomach this pregnancy) and muscle aches, that I don’t know what is that and what is baby, but I like to think that it will be more obvious when I can feel the baby.

robyna · 30/11/2021 09:33

@TashieWoo to me it feels like tiny little taps. The only way I can tell the difference is that I only ever get gas bubbles higher up whereas these are low down and on the left where her legs tend to be. It's really irregular but every now and then it just feels like she's giving me a little nudge. I think once they become stronger and more regular it'll be easier to tell the difference.

GinnyBee · 30/11/2021 09:36

I haven't felt anything yet either, but I'm only 16 weeks today.

My "bump" is barely noticeable in the mornings but then past 5pm I get so incredibly bloated I look about ready to pop 😭Hate it.
