@Stargazer89 my family know and my closest friend. We aren't saying anything to anyone else just yet as we have a 8 and 5 year old and don't want anyone accidentally spilling the beans before we tell them.

EmsTTC · 22/10/2021 08:16

Sorry ignore my comment guys somehow replied on the wrong thread 🤦🏻‍♀️ no idea how I delete it lol

PartyPotato · 22/10/2021 08:42

Today I am craving a tuna melt so bad, I’m gonna have to order one from somewhere so I can eat it while DS is in bed 😂 and my brain has just said to me ‘put gherkins on it’ 🤣
Any other cravings?

PartyPotato · 22/10/2021 08:43

Also I’m a bit annoyed that the community midwives have sent me a letter with an appointment already picked for me instead of ringing me to discuss! So now I’ve got to ring them back as I can’t do the appointment they’ve scheduled. Why couldn’t they just ring me back like they said they would 😫

HWka · 22/10/2021 09:28

Does anyone know if it’s ok to get shellac nails? I made an appointment ages ago and now I’m thinking “oh god can I even get this?!” There’s no nhs advice!

i123i · 22/10/2021 09:46

@Stargazer89 - I am undecided re who to tell and when. At the moment it’s just me and my husband who know (and you guys 🙌🏽). I think I may tell my mum at around 7-8 weeks but not yet decided (I’m only just over 4 weeks now). It would be nice to talk to her about it, but at the same time don’t want her to get too excited before it’s all confirmed at the 12 week scan…
Reassuring to know re your age of baby 1 and 2! I am 34 and this would be our first and I definitely feel like pretty much almost the last one of my friends (who are all on baby number 2 at age 33-34), so nice to know there are other mums my age.
On telling your family - can you pretend you have a UTI so you can’t drink?! 😆 I have dinner with friends tomorrow and again another group in a couple of weeks and planning on using that excuse (it would be reeeeally obvious otherwise).

i123i · 22/10/2021 09:50

Also understand others saying to tell family as it’s good to have that support. Such a personal decision!

@HWka - I currently have shellac nails (done before conception) so I’m not the best to ask. Getting it taken off today though. I think with all these things it’s a question of minimising what you’d usually use/how often eg. Hair dye is ok I think but not frequently…. Happy to be corrected though.

PartyPotato · 22/10/2021 09:57

Dyeing/bleaching hair is fine, just do a patch test first because pregnancy hormones can make your skin more sensitive and you might have a different reaction even to your normal brand. Do it in a well ventilated room and don’t lean over the bowl breathing the chemicals in when you’re mixing it (although that’s pretty obvious even if you’re not pregnant 😂)

CurryandSnuggle · 22/10/2021 10:00

@i123i My mums visiting this weekend and we are going out for Sunday roast. Might just say I’m recovering from tummy bug, fine now but still a bit sore or something lol

@HWka I'm continuing with acrylic nails and shellac toes, my nail tech said it's not an issue (she's not a doctor but I imagine she's come across pregnant ladies before!)

HWka · 22/10/2021 10:18

Ok thanks ladies, I just rang the midwife who did my booking appointment. She said it’s fine as long as you wear a mask and try not to breathe in chemicals. Bet she’s regretting saying “oh just ring me whenever!” Grin

i123i · 22/10/2021 10:23

@HWka - good to know! I’ve just started reading a book called “Expecting Better” which seems good at debunking similar things to this ie. what a pregnant woman should and shouldn’t do.
But to be taken with a pinch of salt too as all these things are so personal and individual.

i123i · 22/10/2021 10:27

@CurryandSnuggle - another good excuse I may use at some point!!

unknownscot · 22/10/2021 10:52

Has anyone lost weight? I've lost about 1kg as I'm not eating much! Is that okay? X

TTCjourney2021 · 22/10/2021 10:54

@unknownscot I'm actively trying to lose weight throughout this pregnancy! At a healthy level though x

I think it depends what your starting BMI is. My midwife told me you can loose up to 2 stone if you have a BMI of over 35 xx

Me too! I have a high BMI so would like to bring it down xx

unknownscot · 22/10/2021 11:05

My BMI is 23.4 so healthy - I'll see how it goes over the next week then maybe call them x

RoseValleyRambles · 22/10/2021 11:33

That's super reassuring. I woke up with it last night, also 4 weeks, and was worried. Glad it's not just me.

RoseValleyRambles · 22/10/2021 11:40

@unoknownscot I found a helpful site that told you what sort of weight gain to aim for dependant on your starting bmi, to make sure you're not impacting baby by gaining too little. Will try and find URL but think I just searched something light "how much weight should I gain pregnancy"

ShirleyValentineManc · 22/10/2021 11:43

Hi everyone,

Thankfully left the 35+ TTC group after 18 months of trying and bring referred for IVF.
I'm hoping this is successful.
Looking forward to sharing our journey with you and yours.

Tofu35 · 22/10/2021 11:56

Hey @shirleyvalentinemanc I was also on the IVF waiting list when I found out! Welcome to the group!

1stTimeTina · 22/10/2021 12:16

Had the scan this morning but unfortunately it’s inconclusive, they had me Measuring a week behind and couldn’t see baby but said it’s all so small that there’s still a chance the dates are wrong and it could grow in, it’s looking unlikely, got to go back in a week to confirm ☹️ The date I’m measuring at is around the time I started bleeding so I’m pretty sure I’m out
