@claireabell10 a natural cycle sounds great!! I'd love to do that if I ever do IVF again, my clinic doesn't offer it weirdly

brumbrum89 · 04/11/2021 14:25

Hi All

You seem like such a lovely bunch.

I am another individual who has been watching the chat and is finally ready to post. I am 7+6, with my first child. I have been really lucky with symptoms - as I only have really sore boobs, and the odd cramp.

In my area we have to self refer to a midwife through a website called my pregnancy notes. I was wondering if anyone else has had to use this? I am concerned as I still have not received my booking appointment and I am 8 weeks tomorrow. I have tried phoning the maternity unit at my local hospital but they just told me to wait until the midwife contacts me. I have no contact details for my midwife so I am at loss of what to do. Just wondering whether anyone else has had to wait this long to be contacted about a booking appointment?

Thanks 😊

Vimto1991 · 04/11/2021 15:00

@brumbrum89 heya!! Congratulations! I first used my pregnancy notes when the doctor recommended a certain hospital to me, on the website it seemed to register me pretty quick. I changed to another hospital that uses Badger instead and needed to self refer via my GP instead. The original hospital from my pregnancy notes did end up calling up about the switch, and I told them I wasn’t planning to have my baby there - but I’ve for some reason got my booking in appointment on the 9th with them... and the 10th with the right hospital. 🤦‍♀️
I am 8+5 and got the letter last week, I imagine you’d receive a letter soon but it might be worth calling them up to find out?

pregnancydiaries · 04/11/2021 15:14

Welcome @brumbrum89, I just got my first booking appointment and I’ll be 10 weeks by that date...feels like quite late.

Is anyone else here from Scotland (Glasgow specifically) and have their first midwife appointment as late as 10 weeks?x

PeeAche · 04/11/2021 15:22

My booking in appointment is scheduled for my 10th week. I think that's normal around here. They were always scheduled for 10th week in my previous pregnancies too. (I haven't made it to one yet)

MadamMaltesers · 04/11/2021 15:23

welcome @brumbrum89 im 7+2 and have hardly had any symptoms just tiredness and the odd aches.

PeeAche · 04/11/2021 15:32

Is anyone else cold all the time? (I know it's winter! 🤣)

I have always "run hot" and I've read that my basal temp should be elevated during this period. But I constantly feel cold. I'm worried it could be linked to dehydration again or something. Have other people got this or should I ring my GP again?

HWka · 04/11/2021 15:37

@PeeAche I’m cold all the time!!! I thought it was just me been a moaner but I am so cold!! I don’t know if it’s a symptom or just me been me!

PeeAche · 04/11/2021 15:40

@HWka I'm the kind of person that is almost never cold. I keep central heating down low, I wear nighties to bed, sleep under a summer duvet all year and spend most of the winter warming my step daughter up using my "hot hands" (at her request, like!)

Suddenly I'm cold all the time. I just ordered some actual pyjamas. The kind my mother would wear. Sad

pregnancydiaries · 04/11/2021 15:45

@PeeAche ok great thanks, can stop worrying then! I’m also always freezing and was like you worried too. I don’t imagine the HG will be helping maybe try getting warm fluids instead I have no idea if that helps though 😂

blueberryy · 04/11/2021 15:56

Here to complain and vent about symptoms. I can barely eat, other than carbs, for the last two weeks because of nausea and stomach ickiness, and now I'm mega low energy. I find I have so much trapped air in my body that when I talk, I feel like I have to dry heave. How much longerrrrr will this go for 😭

brumbrum89 · 04/11/2021 16:05

Thank you everyone - relieved to hear that booking appointments can take some time to come through. If I don't hear anything by the beginning of next week I might make some calls.

I am definitely am feeling colder 🥶 - I do normally feel cold but even with the central heating on I am shivering at times. Didn't realise it was a pregnancy symptom.

pregnancydiaries · 04/11/2021 16:11

Preaching this a lot @blueberryy!!!!! Especially the trapped wind 😫😫

rathernotshare · 04/11/2021 16:30

@pregnancydiaries I'm south west and my booking appointment is 10+0. From the very north to the very south 😁

RoseValleyRambles · 04/11/2021 16:49

Does anyone know what the limit is with booking appts? I've seen reference to tests being done that ideally happen pre ten weeks, but loads of us seem to have them at or after that point so I'm assuming they're not that time sensitive...

Prema112 · 04/11/2021 16:53

I self referred at 6.5 weeks & chased my booking appointment as I hadn't heard anything and had a phone call the next morning, I was 9.5 weeks. I have to go have blood tests, bmi check etc tmw after my scan, I'll be 10+2

pregnancydiaries · 04/11/2021 16:56

@rathernotshare @RoseValleyRambles good to hear we are all around the same time. I was also worried given the pre 10 week tests but guess we’re all in the same boat...

hellointhere · 04/11/2021 16:58

Welcome to all the new people! I don't know but I feel like this is a really busy month on here?

The fatigue has hit me! I barely moved all day yesterday and I still slept through the night. Went for a short walk today and the fresh air was so good, but I was excited to lie down when I got back.

I think I am around 9 weeks, and my midwife phone call is next week.

CurryandSnuggle · 04/11/2021 16:59

@RoseValleyRambles should be done between 8-12 weeks www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/

Thread three ready as this one is almost full 🙂

CurryandSnuggle · 04/11/2021 17:01

What is everyone wearing at the moment? Sounds mad but I am considering doing maternity clothes shopping. I’m not showing yet but I have put on weight and I feel uncomfortable in eg jeans so I’ve lived in leggings and shirt dresses / baggy jumpers since I conceived lol. Not sure if it’s too early to get maternity clothing as I reckon they might just hang off me but I don’t want to spend money on loose clothing that might only fit a month or two.

Thank you for the lovely welcome messages @CurryandSnuggle & @pregnancydiaries.

Today I am loving being snuggled up in my jogging bottoms (working from home!) and hoodie. Although I’m sure it will be a totally different story when we are all heavily pregnant in the “warmer” months.

Today I am feeling a bit like a hypercondriac. I keep getting pains in my stomach - shooting pains on each side around belly button height. Without wanting to give TMI - it’s the sort of pain you tend to get when you have eaten something dodgy and REALLY need to go to the loo. I don’t. But I wish this would all stop.

CurryandSnuggle · 04/11/2021 17:11

Oh dear @Roxystar23 sounds uncomfortable m. Do you think it could be constipation?
