@Vimto1991 how lovely you will be pregnant together! None of my close friends are ready or wanting children so I can imagine it's nice to have a pregnancy buddy

Vimto1991 · 03/11/2021 11:02

@czycoup she’s due in a week! So only pregnant together for a short time haha :)

czycoup · 03/11/2021 11:04

@Vimto1991 awww no! But you should still get some maternity leave together and they will start school at the same time. After a few years the age gap won't be so obvious. Plus, also, I'm sure she will have a lot of baby clothes etc she will want rid of. Wink

MrsNT · 03/11/2021 11:10

@clomid1 based on ovulation Im towards the end of 7 weeks (which would make me almost same as your dates minus a few days) or based on the epu scan mid 7 😂. So not sure ..they said its not very easy to determine via scan this early and its only after 12 weeks they can determine in scan..
I was reading somewhere that say you know for sure you tested positive on OPK on cd 14..but it all depends on what cd spern and egg met etc so its fine for days to be out by couple of days

RoseValleyRambles · 03/11/2021 11:12

@prema112 and @curryandsnuggle it's just so wearing, isn't it! I'm not feeling properly sick, but just a bit distractingly yucky, and it's horrid. Only thing I want to eat is olives and pickled onions. :D. I am really hoping this goes away in a week or two so I can get a bit of my usual bounce back. Also worried it'll turn into worse sickness as I'm still quite early, but I guess I'll deal with that if it comes to it.

MrsNT · 03/11/2021 11:12

Even if you know for sure*

Wellthiswasunexpected · 03/11/2021 11:16

Oo @czycoup I’m interested in this question too. We plan to tell parents at 12 weeks, then close friends/wider family 14/15, and I plan to tell my employer at 20.

CurryandSnuggle · 03/11/2021 11:19

@pregnancydiaries definitely worth checking out, I read that rib pain can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia. Don’t want to worry you as could also just be trapped wind!! But worth seeing your doctor or midwife about.

@Wellthiswasunexpected
Oooh wow! I wish I could leave telling my employee that long to be fair. I’m telling my employer tomorrow as I have no time off left to take and I have my booking in appointment next week which is in another town and takes about an hour, and they have to give you time off for maternity appointments. Otherwise I’d wait too!

Unarosaes · 03/11/2021 11:44

@RoseValleyRambles I have the same type of nausea that also gets worse towards the afternoon and I do find it harder to focus at work. I am so fed up of it already, and am only on week 8... I feel bad for moaning because I know others here are suffering with proper sickness.

Re telling employers, I've been wondering when to do it... where I live you don't have to tell until you're 6 months pregnant. I guess working remotely, I could pull it off. I work for a tech consultancy which is always recruiting n new staff and people rotate teams regularly, so no one would need to be hired to replace me. It still feels a bit late to wait to 6 months...

RoseValleyRambles · 03/11/2021 12:07

I'm going to tell my employers after my 12 week scan if all's well. Gives my team max time to work around it. Also, I imagine they'll guess once I've been alcohol free at all Christmas events so may as well make it official.

PeeAche · 03/11/2021 12:41

Telling my step children first at 12 weeks, then our parents pretty much straight after (although I'll be 14 weeks at Christmas so might wait until then)

Telling friends after that. Not on Facebook etc. so no big online announcement for me.

Telling employer at around 20 weeks, or slightly sooner if I'm showing badly by then.

Plan to start mat leave a fortnight before expected week of birth.

MrsNT · 03/11/2021 12:58

Although I would like to not tell work for as long as I can but for my own benefit (i.e less workload🤫 and time off for appointments) was thinking of telling my manager after 14 15 weeks.. plus gives them time to hire someone. Im not a fan of doing big annoucements etc. Our parents know at the moment but thats about it. Will tell my siblings around that same time and rest when I start to show ppl will know themselves 😂

czycoup · 03/11/2021 13:00

@PeeAche wow you have it all planned. I haven't even thought about maternity leave!

I've told my employer already just because I was/am struggling with sickness and tiredness. Tbh they have been expecting it so it's not a surprise to them. We've told our parents and one friend but I'm holding off telling anyone else until 20 weeks if possible.

HWka · 03/11/2021 13:05

Thanks for all your support last night ladies! Had a scan this morning and unbelievably saw a tiny baby with a flickering heartbeat! They didn’t even need to do an internal scan we saw the baby over the tummy one (not sure the proper names!) measuring exactly 8 weeks ❤️❤️ They thought it was an implantation bleed xxx

PeeAche · 03/11/2021 13:10

Omg @HWka I'm so pleased and relieved for you!!! ❤️❤️❤️

HWka · 03/11/2021 13:10

They gave us these xxx

Wow @HWka!! Such lovely news!! Goes to show that bleeding doesn't mean disaster. So happy for you!

HWka · 03/11/2021 13:12

Thank you! My OH is even happier as now I don’t think we will pay for the private scan next week Grin we may aswell just wait until 12 weeks

Pandamama88 · 03/11/2021 13:15

That's great news xxx

Wellthiswasunexpected · 03/11/2021 13:16

@HWka So happy for you!!!

Unarosaes · 03/11/2021 14:08

@HWka such exciting news! So so happy for you and OH. You can spend the private scan money on a treat :)

PeeAche · 03/11/2021 14:31

@HWka 😍 you have a bean!

(And very nice nails!)

4thtimethecharm · 03/11/2021 14:34

I had my first scan in order to be put on meds this Monday at 6+2 weeks. Baby has a heartbeat, but was incredibly tiny, so I will have to come back in two weeks to see if it is growing properly. In the meantime, I have just found that I am spotting (brown) today.

This is all so hugely nerve-wrecking. This is our fourth attempt to have our first. Really good to see some others receiving happy news, though. @HWka, very relieved for you!

czycoup · 03/11/2021 15:03

@HWka excellent news! I'm so pleased for you what a relief
