@equimum @HWka @scoutcat thank you for your reassuring words. I was managing to keep pretty chill until this week. I have a obgyn appointment at what I think will be 7+3 on Friday. My last pregnancy was a blighted ovum which was discovered at exactly this time when I went in due to some spotting. I understand those of you who prefer to wait for the 12 week scan. On one hand I want to know, on the other one I'd rather continue like this and not worry unless I see some bleeding. Either way, right now there's no reason for me to freak out. I can't control the outcome and however much I worry won't make a difference or prepare me to face any bad news any better. Last time I was worried sick from the beginning and it didn't help in any way. My partner and my mum know, but I don't want to make my partner more nervous than he already is and my mum is too much of an optimist!

Anyways, thank you for the support and for sharing your experiences and feelings. It really helps me to keep grounded during this emotional rollercoaster.

RoseValleyRambles · 27/10/2021 09:02

@unknownscot I love that advice. I think that may become my mantra.

Off for my second set of bloods today. Peed on another such and they're getting stronger every day, so I think this baby might be happening. We'll see what the doctors say! Felt a bit overwhelmed last night but sleep solves most things, I find.

How is everyone doing with symptoms today? I have pretty regular cramping and light nausea, a bit like mild carsickness but without the car. Already carrying a pack of crackers wherever I go, and the ginger tea has been bought!

hellointhere · 27/10/2021 09:27

Morning all :)
I told my family a couple of days ago and it has reduced my anxiety a lot! I didn't realise it but I think I was holding in a lot of worry, now I can talk if I want, and just a simple "are you ok?" makes me feel like I have a support system around me.
I think my boobs are starting to get a bit bigger and a little tender, but not by much. Still my only symptoms seem to be emotional and cramping. I also get the sharp pain when I move quickly, for me it's when I get up from a chair.

PeeAche · 27/10/2021 10:07

@TTCjourney2021 Congrats on your milestone!! 😆 I'm so happy for you!!! I know what a big deal it is. Good luck with your scan today. Report back soon, please! Thanks xxxx

PeeAche · 27/10/2021 10:09

Everyone here, can I just say, this thread is the nicest one I've ever encountered on Mumsnet. This is what all women should be to each other - supportive, caring and lifting each other up. Thank you all for being so wonderful.

And sorry for being so soft. I'm hormonal.

MrsNT · 27/10/2021 10:21

@peeache 💞

Brightsmoke · 27/10/2021 10:22

Good luck with scan @TTCjourney2021 and bloods @RoseValleyRambles

Ive started to pop already. With my first, I had an obvious baby belly by 10 weeks, so I shouldn't be surprised with it at 8 weeks this time. Just feels too early for my uniform to not fit comfortably 😂

I've got a raging headache today. Still suffering with the cold, coming on 2 weeks now. Boobs are so sore, especially at the start of a run!

How is everyone today?

Tofu35 · 27/10/2021 10:29

Have my first midwife appt this afternoon. As it's for getting bloods I'm having a nice "it's raining, it's cold, but I need to keep my arm free" debate. Oh also my belly is super bloated so my jeans aren't fitting. A proper wardrobe rummage is needed to find this magic outfit!

@peeache omg YABU! 😂

MrsNT · 27/10/2021 10:31

Random question...I had a pedicure booked a few days ago which I had to cancel ...the reason being..According to Dr Google (damn google) ..there are some pressure points on the feet that can cause contractions and should be avoided during preg. So i thought Im not telling the beautician this early about myself so i cancelled. She was ok about cancelling but I...had to pay the cancellation fee which was fair.

..anyways..anyone heard of this before or mummies who have had babies before..did u get pedicures during pregnancy? Is this something that should be avoided?

MrsNT · 27/10/2021 10:32

@tofu35 get the jeans extender button from ebay..its about a pound or 2 . Ive ordered one. Yet to arrive.

Bridgey8 · 27/10/2021 10:53

On peoples anxiety for early scans... to be honest I don't know what's better... I've obviously had a bad scan this time round at 6.5 weeks but no obvious signs of issues. I have a repeat scan on Monday where I will either be told that it's viable or not... if it's not I'm kind of glad I had the early scan as I could have got a lot further without realising an issue. If it's all fine... the early scan will have caused me the worst 10 days ever of anxiety and stress and had I not had it I would currently be none the wiser. It's a bloody minefield ladies! I don't think there is a wrong or right answer... hope you're all doing ok and surviving these anxious weeks! Xxxx

Tofu35 · 27/10/2021 10:55

@mrsNT brilliant, thank you!

Unarosaes · 27/10/2021 11:02

@Bridgey8 You are totally right. There's downsides and upsides to both and we just need to do what feels right at this moment in time. The most important thing is that we need to be kind to ourselves. Best of luck on Monday, I really really hope it's good news for you Flowers

@Tofu35 - I have my first midwife appointment today too! But it's over the phone?! I'm 9 weeks and a bit baffled as I thought they needed to do some physical checks, maybe there's a separate follow up for that and/or the bloods. Hope your appointment goes ok!

On the jeans front, I'm feeling quite proud of myself for finding an old stretchy pair that I thought I'd thrown away when I lost some weight... Finally my hoarding habits have come in handy!! I'm thinking stretchy fabric and long tops is definitely the way to go Smile

RT65 · 27/10/2021 11:28

@PeeAche - couldn't agree more, even if it is the hormones talking!!! 😂💕

RoseValleyRambles · 27/10/2021 12:04

Top tip: loop a hair elastic through your buttonhole and you have an instant jeans extender. :)

@Tofu35 I had mine yday! I wore a short sleeve top and a coat - was glad as it was so hot in the GP surgery so the coat came straight off!!
Prema112 · 27/10/2021 12:14

@RoseValleyRambles Ooo thanks good tip

@PeeAche I was thinking how nice this group is yesterday!

Everyone having scans today, good luck I'm hoping for lots of lovely scan results for you all! X

Tofu35 · 27/10/2021 12:35

@rosevalleyrambles great thinking! I'll maybe give this a shot later in the week (when I'm not paranoid about my top riding up and showing my unbuttoned jeans to everyone!). I'll update the team when I find my dream outfit.

Also super hormone paranoia, my YABU comment was taking the piss out of other MN threads and not being mean to @peeache. I realised looking back at it, that wasn't coming across clearly! Eek sorry!

Prema112 · 27/10/2021 12:41

Did most people get their booking appointment info by post? I'm at my mums for half term and I'm wondering if I'm gonna miss the invite, I'm already 9 weeks seems quite late for booking...

Tofu35 · 27/10/2021 12:50

@prema112 in my health board, I self referred to midwife and they gave me a verbal confirmation of booking appt over phone and then wrote to me with two appointments (booking and scan) listed.

Hope you hear soon!

This is the same with NHS Greater Glasgow, I self referred and got the dates on the telephone call and then a letter through. X

RoseValleyRambles · 27/10/2021 13:29

I got an email about booking appt, and scan is supposed to be coming in post.

unknownscot · 27/10/2021 13:30

6 weeks today!

I feel so behind a lot of you 😂 The hunger, the bloating, the tiredness is very real.
I work in the NHS and have my first 12 hours shifts coming up this weekend. Genuinely not sure how I'll survive them 😂
