Hi ladies I have just got my BFP after ttc for a year. I'm 34 and it's my first pregnancy. I just thought I'd start a thread for anybody who has also just got a BFP. I'm excited but also terrified that something will go wrong! How are we all feeling?

Hey ladies,

Hope you don't mind me jumping on! Only 4 weeks today and we had a chemical in July - got my fingers and toes crossed this baby sticks. Got my first midwife appointment and 12 week scan date which is exciting!

We already have a one year old son (let the madness begin)!!

Hope everyone is keeping well. The nausea is real for me today - didn't think this could happens so early?! x

Bluepop09 · 07/09/2021 16:33

@wellitywell The cells, love it 🤣

Aww bless you @ConfusedNewbie21 there was definitely something on them tests. Maybe it was a chemical Sad Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon ❤️

@babyboyblue Congrats Smile

candyfloss18 · 07/09/2021 17:54

I'm so thirsty no matter how much water I'm drinking is anybody else the same 😩 @babyboybluex congrats !!

@ConfusedNewbie21 ah I hope you get a good outcome thinking of you x

Flamingogirl08 · 09/09/2021 13:36

How is everybidy getting on? I'm 7 weeks today!
@candyfloss18 yes I am more thirsty than normal. I've also lost a few pounds, probably because I can only manage small meals and dont have the appetite I did. However my jeans are more snug because my tummy is pretty bloated! In a few weeks I'll start to breathe out rather than hold it all in 😂

All good here, I've not been any more thirsty than usual but my god this sickness feeling is next level. It's constant. Has anyone actually thrown up yet or do you just have the sicky feeling like me? Envy

wellitywell · 10/09/2021 07:24

@Flamingogirl08 I have totally lost my appetite too! Not feeling sick but never feel hungry.

Any tips for hosting a party of 6 tonight and not letting on that I'm pregnant? I've been on the old "gin" and tonics, I've got some AF wine I'm going to try and sneak into my glass. Now our kitchen is lovely and open plan there's no hiding!

hormonalhandbag · 10/09/2021 09:53

Hey everybody! Hugest congrats to you all. Please may I join?!
I'm 7 weeks 1 day today and struggling with feeling absolutely rotten!
I'm 37 and this is baby #5 😳😬☺️
I run my own business which I normally juggle well, and have juggled / managed with previous pregnancies with little disruption, but struggling big time right now I have to admit. I've cancelled my work over the next few days to try and pull myself together for some urgent contracts coming up early next week, which I've hired some help for.
Have never cancelled work before 😱
I feel like I should be functioning better!
Have I always felt this bad in early pregnancy or just forgotten? Because this feels a lot worse than I remember before!

How is everyone else managing work around symptoms? Has anyone taken any time off?

hormonalhandbag · 10/09/2021 10:04

@wellitywell I'm sure it's more obvious to us then our guests!!!! Especially after your friends have had a few drinks!! I'd insist on being on drinks duty though so no one can pour YOU a drink!! And make sure everyone's topped up so no reason for that plan to fail!

I am so tired too. I keep trying to have a sneaky 5 min sofa nap but my children are having none of it and keep jumping on me Grin

Sickness has really kicked in this week. Annoyingly it is much worse when I’m hungry so I’m having to snack all day long which isn’t great!!

wannabeamummysobad · 11/09/2021 12:18

Whoop, just back from my early scan. It's went so well. As soon as the sonographer put the wand on my tummy she saw the sack in the womb and immediately commented on a strong heartbeat. She dated me at 7W1D which is what I thought I was so really happy about that.

Roll on the next 5weeks for my first trimester scan.

How's everyone doing/feeling?

Bluepop09 · 11/09/2021 19:07

Smile Glad everyone's getting on ok. I've caved and bought an early scan on Groupon, bargain compared to the usual prices. Going to try book it in for this week or next. Eeeek Grin

Flamingogirl08 · 11/09/2021 19:29

@wannabeamummysobad oh that's fab news!

I don't feel too bad today. Cleaned the whole house from top to bottom. Had a burst of energy 😂. I'm on the couch with a ginger tea now though!

I think I got away with it- I bought some AF wine and just served myself first (eg when no one was looking) and then dished out the real wine to everyone else. One of them may have been suspicious but she didn't ask. I'd be happy to tell them but we have a close mutual pal who has fertility issues and I want her to find out from me first, and ideally after 12 weeks.

@hormonalhandbag - there were some sore heads among the group! I am actually really enjoying not being hungover.

Asides from the hormonal madness early last week (I actually spoke to a telephone counsellor, it felt so good to cry hysterically on a trained professional) I'm feeling pretty much the same? Not overly tired.. only just 6 weeks so it could hit me yet!

wannabeamummysobad · 13/09/2021 07:28

@wellitywell funny you should say this. Had a couples evening out on Saturday which included dinner and trips to two pubs. Managed to get away from any suspicion of 🤰-helped by the fact the the other women aren't drinkers so nobody questioned me not.
Fast forward to yesterday, its a friends birthday, I turn down a Prosecco (oblivious to me the chatter about my being 🤰starts) as I've bought a lovely cold press. One of my friends plucks the courage to ask if
I'm 🤰to which the bday girl and a heavily 🤰other friend respond "she's obviously 🤰 but not wanting to talk about it in a larger group setting". Fast forward to original asker moving her chair closer to me and whispering "congratulations, see you next weekend".
Honestly, it was so easy. They know, I never had to admit to anything (or lie as I wouldn't) but I can also give my official announcement when I feel ready.

How did you get on @candyfloss18?

I had my booking appointment today, still doesn't seem real though. I think once I've had my scan it will start to sink in.
