@MrsTD88 it was switching from breast/ready made SMA to formula SMA. It upset his belly and he was so angry. It is so distressing when you can't do anything to help them. Sad The wound is amazing, barely noticeable. Just the lower abdominals that are tender now. Everything else doing well. Smile

@AdventuresAwait I'm not too bad, thank you. We will see if I am saying that again at 5am!

@2021mumma I got discharged as fast as I could. I was in a ward, should have been alone but got stuck with a young couple there, husband of which was a total c*nt so I just wanted out. It was not restful, but just listen to your body. I do better at home where DH can help me without being constantly told off or treated like a diseased leper!

crobo87 · 24/08/2021 18:48

So I've been admitted back into hospital with raised blood pressure.

Since I've been here (about 5 hours) my partner has had a positive Lateral flow test.
No idea what we are going to do or how it's going to work.
I've currently got no symptoms (neither has he) and my lateral flow at the hospital was negative.
Not sure what happens with my blood pressure checks and scans I have booked in? I'm so worried about catching it now and what might happen 😭😭😭

KHR1 · 24/08/2021 19:18

@crobo87 sorry that your husband has tested positive, hope you all stay well. I know different hospital trusts have different rules but where I am you can attend scans and essential monitoring if you test positive as long as you make them aware first. If your partner tests positive they allow you to pick someone else to attend with you. Fingers crossed you don't catch it and hope your blood pressure settles!

Has anyone else not been offered a sweep? I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and won't be seeing my midwife again until 41 weeks, which she thinks is unlikely to happen as I have an appointment with my consultant next week about induction.

My trust don't recommend sweeps (just found this out!) and won't induce till 41+4 so I could be in for a long wait! Hoping she comes by herself!

Kirky658 · 24/08/2021 19:59

@crobo87 fingers crossed your DH is OK and you don't catch it, they will make arrangements for your appointments as high BP ( as I now well know) can be dangerous.

So we saw Alice's consultant this morning, and basically she's still a bit jaundiced but only just so they arent putting her under the light, just getting some bloods to rule out other things just in case but apparnently it is so normal in preemies and when you're breastfeeding it can last up to 3 weeks. She needs to have put a decent amount of weight on but they're hopefully looking to have her home by the weekend 🤞

We've just been told her urine is clear, and that her bilirubin Levels has dropped from 15 below to 25 below today which is fab news xxx

CherLW · 25/08/2021 09:52

Just been to MAU with reduced movements and mild lower bump pain. Movements were thankfully fine when I was monitored (always the way) and such a relief!!

Pain is normal she said, it’s on and off like a really mild contraction. She said it could be early early Labour and to monitor it. The head isn’t fully engaged yet either so hoping nothing imminent!! I’m 38+5 today!

leftitlate37 · 25/08/2021 10:07

Ah @CherLW sorry to hear but glad all ok. We've been in this week too for that and gotta have a scan. Took him a while to wake up even on monitoring...think he's got lazy and 😴! I'm partly wishing the next few weeks away but like u hoping nothing 2 imminent!!!
Hows everyone doing and all the new arrivals? Sounds like u r all doing amazingly!!
@crobo87 how r u and hubby feeling?? Hope all OK.

SouthwestSis · 25/08/2021 10:16

So sorry to hear that @crobo87 :(
Had you and he managed to have both jabs? How's the blood pressure today?

Scotti84 · 25/08/2021 10:28

@crobo87 so sorry to hear that! The last thing you need, especially if your blood pressure is already up. Hope you get some answers soon!

@Noodles4Me can i ask, how was the actual op? Could you feel anything? Did it seem to be done pretty quick? As i get closer to having to make a choice im getting more nervous about how big of an op it is.

@CherLW early early labour is a thing too? Good to know everything's OK though. At my last docs app when they tried to listen to the heartbeat they couldnt find it and I started to freak out a bit, until she started moving around like crazy and she was just laid wrong. They do like to scare us don't they!

CherLW · 25/08/2021 10:45

@leftitlate37 hope your scan goes ok x The midwife said to me movements will be different as the baby doesn’t have as much room now. I want another week and then I’ll be happy.

@Scotti84 i would definitely freak out too but I’m so glad they found her and all was ok for you! I just read my notes and she said the pain could also be the head engaging… it’s quite worrying as I don’t know what to expect or if it will get worse or ease up etc now

deedeebythesea · 25/08/2021 10:49

Something didn’t feel right last night. Called triage first thing this morning and went in for a check up. Baby’s heart rate is causing concern. Being monitored at the moment but looks like they will
be pushing for induction. Just waiting for the doctor to come out of theatre to talk to me.

leftitlate37 · 25/08/2021 10:59

Ow @deedeebythesea glad u trusted your gut and went in. Thinking of u. How far along r u now?
Hope the pain eases for you @CherLW.
I had been having some back pain and what felt like low period pain, at last midwife appt they said urine clear (first time ever!) So assumed they didn't send off.got a call 5days later saying group b strep positive UTi so need antibiotics. Assume now that was poss causing the slight period pains and backache?

Mamabearwhere · 25/08/2021 11:11

@deedeebythesea hope all goes well hun. What was your symptoms / concerns ?

CherLW · 25/08/2021 11:16

@leftitlate37 thank you ❤️ I hope so too. I’ve got myself into a bit of a state and feel really emotional. I just hate the unknown and it’s making me feel quite anxious.
I’ve cancelled all plans for the next couple of days so I can just get my head in a good place and relax xx

Scotti84 · 25/08/2021 11:40

@CherLW oh i feel for you. I think thats what I'm not looking forward to the most too, not knowing if this is it or can i relax and just get on with things, from all of the babies already born here, everyones had such a different journey, there really is no planning is there? And im not good with that. I like to be prepared and know what i need to do, when. Hope baby makes a decision one way or the other so you can know which way it will go x

CherLW · 25/08/2021 11:46

@Scotti84 it’s the hardest thing isn’t it not knowing. It was hard with the midwife as even tho she was saying it’s normal and the head could be engaging it’s not really explained. She said to have a bath and paracetamol etc but I’m like what to prepare for tomorrow or a few days a week.. I know there is no known but I feel a bit lost now.

crobo87 · 25/08/2021 12:10

Thanks for all your well wishes everyone.
I've just got home, Bp has settled.

My partner is feeling a bit rough today, sweats and a cough, he's set himself up in one of the kids rooms. My kids have gone to their dads out of the way in the hope they don't catch it but obviously still need to isolate.
Just awaiting PCR results for both of us to confirm.
I have no symptoms and my lateral flow is still negative so not sure if I'll get it in a few days maybe or hoping I won't catch it at all.
Just a nightmare situation at nearly 36 weeks pregnant 🙈🙈

Noodles4Me · 25/08/2021 13:33

@Scotti84 the op itself is the best and easiest part! I had 1 surgeon and 1 trainee surgeon, midwife and nurse at business end, 2 anaesthetic docs at head end. That's it.

I felt only pulling, lots of pulling but nothing else. It was the next 24 hours I didn't like but that's coz post natal wards in UK are shit Confused

MrsTD88 · 25/08/2021 16:53

@Noodles4Me aww their little tummies are so sensitive. I hope you had a better night last night. So glad to hear your wound is healing so well.

@Kirky658 fantastic news, you and your other half must be so happy.

@deedeebythesea I hope you're okay, it sounds as if you are being well taken care of. I'm glad you went with your instincts. My midwife always says if something just doesn't feel right to call.

@crobo87 glad to hear you're feeling okay and still having negative tests, it's must be such a worry. Hope your partner feels better soon.

SP2Bx · 25/08/2021 17:12

This is totally trivial compared to something you ladies have going on at the moment, but I've just had an embarrassing little meltdown at my 36 week appointment 🙈 I'd gone in so looking forward to actually getting some information this time, because everybody knows 36 weeks is THE appointment for birth planning etc... but it went exactly the same as all the others (fine) and ended as always with "so do you I have any questions for me?"

Well this time I just completely freaked like "Yeah! As a first time mum, 4 weeks out, when the hell does anybody tell me ANYTHING about actually having this baby?" I think she could sense the panic in my voice cause she was super lovely after that and very reassuring 🙈 but she said that they don't discuss birth plans anymore (even though a previous midwife told me it would be at 36 weeks and my friend who is in the same trust discussed hers at her 36wk app just last week 🤔) and I said like well even if that is the case, am I ever getting info on anything? Breastfeeding, pnd, vitamin K... all the things the NHS website says should be discussed across various appointments... I've heard nothing! Even had a letter the other day saying no health visitor appointment until 10 days after the birth either. She asked me if I'd been told to look into any online classes.. which is hasn't. Not that they offer any but you know, at my own expense. I told her thankfully I'm not completely in the dark because I've done hypnobirthing, and so she was able to answer a few questions I had prepared at that point but still! Until i brought it up she'd never even mentioned the fact that I need to even start thinking about a birth plan!

I know they're stretched but honestly the community midwife experience so far has been so underwhelming, and if I wasn't such a preparer/researcher by nature I think I'd be feeling very lost and unsupported right now!

Sorry for the rant, and hope others have had a better experience :)

CherLW · 25/08/2021 17:17

Oh goodness part of me thinks this is the start for me being in Labour! The contractions have got more intense over the day. I just called the triage and she said they weren’t lasting very long, I can talk and I sounded calm…. So I don’t need to go in! How can they assess everyone’s pain threshold over the phone!!

It’s making me sweaty, like that sort of pain! I’ve never had a baby before so have no idea what to expect… she said ‘take paracetamol’ I feel like if she said come in to examine me at least I would know something, even if they did send me back home after!!

Mamabearwhere · 25/08/2021 17:23

@CherLW oh babe how exciting for you if this is labour. Just stay calm and try to breath through your contractions and time them. It’s so frustrating when they assess you based on you well you can converse over the phone. Rule of thumb is if you have 3 contractions in 10 mins each last 45-60 seconds then go in! Try to relax in the meantime! You got this Flowers

CherLW · 25/08/2021 17:37

@Mamabearwhere thank you ❤️ I keep trying to remember to breath!
I’ve just timed some and I’m having 3-4 in 10 mins and they last about 40 seconds each time. I’ll give it a bit longer and then call again, They say it’s better to be home but I really would feel better being there or at least being checked xx

SP2Bx · 25/08/2021 17:40

Good luck @CherLW ! You got this ❤️

crobo87 · 25/08/2021 17:43

Good luck @CherLW

I've woken from a nap feeling pretty rough, taken another lateral flow test and I'm positive 😭😭.
Should get the PCR test results tomorrow to confirm
