Ah ladies, the end is in sight!! Although I'm totally with you all 🙈

Just about to head off for a midday nap as I have a birthday party to go to this afternoon and DPs golf presentation evening tonight and I know I'll be a right barrel of laughs if I don't!

Baby's movements are making me feel so nauseous today as well 🤢 that squirming and stretching as they run out of room is so not as cute as the little kicks and wriggles of a few weeks ago!

unicornpower · 21/08/2021 17:13

@Scotti84 @Bubbles1st I’m so glad you both said about not wanting to travel, it’s really annoying to keep having to remind people I’m heavily pregnant so I’m not going to be zipping here, there and everywhere! My SIL had her baby last week and I feel awful I’ve not been able to see them yet but I haven’t felt up to it/been exhausted. I also don’t want to stray too far from home on my own (today aside, but I am with my mum so feel ok). It’s just quite hard to not feel like you’re being a pain with not wanting to go out?

Kirky658 · 21/08/2021 17:25

Ladies I've been discharged after 11 nights in hospital! It feels so surreal to be home and I cried leaving Alice in the hospital earlier but I know it's where she needs to be. X

AdventuresAwait · 21/08/2021 18:06

That's great news that you've been discharged @Kirky658! Xx

AdventuresAwait · 21/08/2021 18:08

How are you feeling today @FTEngineerM? Glad to hear that the midwife can come to you for your appointment xx

Kat1112025 · 21/08/2021 19:06

@Kirky658 that's really good news. I've had a lot of cries leaving Eddie and going home at night, but sleeping in your own bed will make a world of difference.

Alice will be so well cared for by the neonatal nurses and you can come back in the morning re-energised to care for her.

MrsTD88 · 21/08/2021 19:58

Amazing news @Kirky658 I think this will do you the world of good and you can go and see Alice as and when you want. There is nothing quite like your own bed too. Do you live far from the hospital? How is Alice doing?

Taybz · 21/08/2021 20:04

I'm with you on the going out ladies, feel too nervous about being out by myself at this stage.

@Krista1991 yes me! I'm also 37wks in 2 days. I'll miss baby's movements the most but the rest I'm done with! 😅

@Kirky658 so glad you've been discharged, now you can get some rest after going through so much. How often will you be allowed to see little Alice?

Taybz · 21/08/2021 20:06

I really can't wait to meet our little one and smother him in cuddles and kisses! I'm more than happy to have him next week at 37wks if he comes. Any tips ladies on how I can get speed up his arrival? 😃

Kirky658 · 21/08/2021 20:17

@kat1112025 thanks hun I was so worried it would make me a bad mum for not being with her 24/7. We've spent 4 hours with her today and I came away just exhausted. How long do you guys tend to visit Eddie for?

@mrstd88 we are about 20 mins from the hospital In good traffic so not too far, and the unit gives free parking so it's easier for me to get round too. Alice is doing OK, she's being weighed tomorrow so I guess we will see, very nervous tbh. She's guzzler 45 mls off us this afternoon instead of her prescribed 40 so hopefully that's a good sign xx

Mamabearwhere · 21/08/2021 20:43

@Taybz I’m also counting down to next Friday when I’ll be 37 weeks to start “mission get baby out”. With my other two I was bouncing on my ball a lot and they both arrived at 39 weeks. I was WAY more active with them though the whole pregnancy compared to this one so who knows. I’m going to start drinking raspberry leaf tea and maybe will give sex a go (yay for DH who hasn’t had much this past 9 months) I read that semen helps ripen the cervix (!?) who knows if any of these will work.

SillyBry · 21/08/2021 21:24

I think I’m quite blasé… I’ve not even considered not going out on my own! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
38 weeks after the weekend - and definitely feeling ready not to be pregnant sometime soon!
This week has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster. Finished work and my daughter finished nursery to head to school on Friday. She has been there since she was 10 months old and I’m so overly emotional about it. She’s so excited for school and not sad… but I keep seeing her nursery stuff and crying. Bloody pregnancy hormones! 🤣🤣

@Mamabearwhere good luck with the raspberry leaf tea… back when I did NCT 5 years ago, they dispelled most of the myths. But I remember them saying you had to drink massive quantities - like 2-3 cups every day for it to make an impact.
I’ve been working on my ball as an office chair for months as it’s more comfortable than the kitchen chair. No idea if it makes any difference, but can’t do any harm hey! 🤣

@Kirky658 I’m so glad you’ve been discharged. Please do not feel any guilt leaving the hospital - you need to be well rested! Especially when you’re busy trying to pump milk - the better you feel, the easier that will be!

crobo87 · 21/08/2021 21:45

@Kirky658 great to hear you have been discharged. Hopefully you can get well rested ready for Alice coming home xx

Jay3004 · 22/08/2021 06:01

@Kirky658 and @Kat1112025 I finally left hospital yesterday too after a week in there and had the same feelings leaving Kit in neonatal - there were a lot of tears. I’m feeling better this morning after a night in my own bed though. Glad you’re both doing okay too - we’ll get there.

GWhiteley · 22/08/2021 09:05

Well I'm 38+2 & think I overdid it yesterday pushing the trolley round sainsburys as didnt feel baby move much at all yesterday. Ended up going into triage to be monitored but thankfully everything's fine & they were happy with her movements.

Now I'm being told to do 2 different things by different people & have no clue which I'm supposed to do! My husband & mil keep saying I should be resting & taking it easy but my friend who's had two babies says I should be keeping as active as I can. As a first time mum it's very confusing!

SP2Bx · 22/08/2021 09:35

@GWhiteley Glad everything is ok! It's contradictory but I feel like we need to do both! They say keeping active encourages labour and baby getting into a good position, but equally there's going to be no time to rest soon so that's important too! I'd say, keep active but don't over do it 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 whatever that means!

@Jay3004 Hope you and Kit are ok...

... can't even imagine how hard it must be for you girls, but you're doing amazing ❤️

Kirky658 · 22/08/2021 12:43

@jay3004 How's Kit doing? Alice has put a bit of weight back on which is good!

Joey86 · 22/08/2021 13:18

Hi ladies. I've been into hospital this morning, and sent home again. I started having regular contractions at 1:30am, but they were 7mins apart until about 4:30 so I let DH sleep. Then they increased to 3-4mins apart, so I woke DH and we had a cuppa and timed them until around 5:30, called the hospital, called my parents to come sit with my older two.
Basically, I'm still only 2cm dilated (same as I was on Thursday when I had my sweep), and because I'm managing without needing pain relief they sent me home.
Thing is, I don't really feel my contractions as pain. When I was on the trace I was getting contractions I could barely feel, and the midwife couldn't believe I didn't need any pain relief and hadn't even taken any paracetamol at home. My other two I didn't need any pain relief until I was almost 8cm, when I used gas&air. My contractions are pretty easy to ignore, unless I'm trying to sleep/relax. I just don't really know what to do now, I've had a sleep, now I'm leaning on my ball. It's not like I can wait until they're much closer together, so I guess I have to wait for the pain to kick in, and hope I get there in time. Thankfully I'm only 5mins away, and I can get my parents back here just as quickly as they're nearby.
Ugh.
My first baby I'd had him 5.5hrs after going into hospital, and my second was born at home and the midwife was here 50mins before he was born. Not used to this, it's dragging!

SP2Bx · 22/08/2021 13:45

How exciting though @Joey86 ! I'd heard 3 contractions lasting 45-60 seconds each in 10 minutes is a good gauge of when to head to hospital, but sounds like you're pretty much there already? Hopefully you'll just know when it's time to head back in, and you make it in good time - thank goodness for only being 5 minutes away! Sending positive vibes, and love to you and baby when they arrive!!! ❤️

LauEli · 22/08/2021 20:03

@Joey86 exciting stuff, how are you feeling now?

SillyBry · 22/08/2021 21:13

@GWhiteley I think advice depends a bit on generations… I keep seeing friends of my mums when I’m out running or walking and they are like “you should be resting! What are you doing?!”
Whereas, as long as you are comfortable and not causing yourself any pain, being active is just fine and helps prepare your body for labour 😊

@Joey86 how frustrating for you after such quick labours previously! I hope you’re doing ok and things crank up a bit for you fairly soon!

MrsTD88 · 22/08/2021 21:28

@Kirky658 that's good you're not far away from the hospital and great news Alice has put weight on.

@Joey86 how exciting! Hope things are going well for you 💛

Joey86 · 22/08/2021 22:11

Still at home. Contractions have been on/off all day. I'm exhausted, and my bump is sore. I've had back pain, and pain under my bump. Still finding it hard to define the contractions. They're frequent, some last ages, like 4mins solid. Then they'll be hardly noticeable, so I ignore them. Still short intervals though. I was told to go home and relax, ha! My kids have been on edge all day, my 11yo is anxious.
I've had a couple of naps, a couple of cries. Worried that baby is gonna get fed up with all these contractions, and could increase chance of menconium, which is what caused ds2 to have an infection 😥
I don't think baby can get his head onto my cervix properly, like ds2 I don't think he has his chin tucked. So I've been trying to position him using spinning babies techniques.
I'm just so tired and fed up.

Kirky658 · 22/08/2021 23:02

@joey86 oh hun I hear the latent phase is so difficult babe. Just try and rest if you can, have a bath to relax as much as you can as you will need your energy too. (no proper tips I'm afraid as I had a section but we learned that in antenatal classes)). If you have an exercise ball deffo bounce on that. And try and walk sideways up the stairs, helps to open up your cervix!

Also we have BIG news.. Alice is off all her monitoring now so we've been given a room like a hotel room at the hospital so we can get used to time together as a family! It's so cool and it's so lovely to be properly together at last 😍

AdventuresAwait · 22/08/2021 23:08

Thinking of you @Joey86 and sending hugs xx

Yay - That's amazing news @Kirky658! So happy for you. Enjoy time together xx
