@Kirky658 my waiting room is the same lol ive just been on my phone reading. Not long to go anyway

Kat1112025 · 23/06/2021 10:28

Interesting that everyone was given such different advice re. water.

@Kirky658 I didn't talk to anyone/make eye contact during my GTT, I was so busy focussed on not throwing up the drink!

SillyBry · 23/06/2021 12:15

Good luck with the ladies doing the GTT today! I hope you have a fabulous lunch when you're allowed to eat! ;-)

I had my bloods taken last Friday and haven't heard back from the Drs... they said no news is good news and they'll only call me if there are concerns... so fingers crossed I make it to Friday without a phone call!

Kirky658 · 23/06/2021 13:06

Well my GTT is done, thank god. Felt awful at the end really shaky and weak. Should get results on Friday if it is positive otherwise I will get a letter. Got myself a posh sandwich and some junk food, feel like today of all days I can treat myself 🤣

Bubbles1st · 23/06/2021 13:43

@Kirky658 do it an enjoy! In fact my advice would be to all out tomorrow too In case Friday puts a stop to the eating freely. However I sincerely hope it's negative for you !

@bubbles1st exactly my thinking! I feel rough now, just walked the dog and feel knackered. Think it's one of those days to chill on the sofa with my laptop on but not worry too much about work!

Moominmiss · 23/06/2021 15:07

Oooh I have my GTT on Monday morning. It’s booked for 8am first off, then 10.20am.
I’m dreading it. This drink sounds horrendous!

SP2Bx · 23/06/2021 15:38

@SillyBry Mine was Friday too and have heard nothing as yet... they said no news is good news so fingers crossed!

@Moominmiss My tests were at 8.40 and 10.40, the drink was actually quite nice (like melted calippo ice lolly) and I was allowed to go home between appointments (in which I had a work call so it went really quick). I didn't even think about it! So don't worry too much :) I missed my morning coffee more than the food haha

Moominmiss · 23/06/2021 15:49

Thank you @SP2Bx that’s really good to know. I’ve had visions of struggling to keep this awful drink down!

I’m allowed gone between appointments too. Both appointments are at my local doctors surgery which is just up the hill from where I work so I’ll most likely just go to work in between the 2.

I’m having my whooping cough jab at the first appointment too which I’m not looking forward to.

Kirky658 · 23/06/2021 15:53

@sp2bx @moominmiss you lucky ones being able to go home between! I sat there with my kindle on the world's most uncomfortable chair haha. Mind you the drive to the test was 20 mins so by the time I'd have got there and back if I'd have been able to go home it would be time to go back!

SP2Bx · 23/06/2021 17:52

@Kirky658 Can imagine that was absolutely awful because you'd just sit there thinking about it as well surely?! I'm a serial fainter usually but it's almost always because I work myself up in my head about it!

Yet another example of things being completely different depending on where you are in the country! It's mad!

Kirky658 · 23/06/2021 17:58

@sp2bx yep definitely, mad how different things are country wide isn't it. In other news we actually ordered our cot yesterday 😁

Had a real panic today as my friend who's due 3 weeks before me so she's 31 weeks had spotting yesterday and then her waters broke, she's now in MAU being kept in having had one anti Labour injection and she will be having another tonight, as well as antibiotics to stop infection. Really feel for her and its so scary to think you think you're past the worst of it then that happens 😩

AdventuresAwait · 23/06/2021 17:58

@Moominmiss, I found the drink fine too and like @SP2Bx, I missed my morning coffee and wasn't too hungry afterwards!

Also, I was dreading my whooping cough vaccine. Kept putting it off. Finally had it last week and it was fine. I was quite surprised. Wanted to reassure you that hopefully it won't be as bad as you think.

CherLW · 23/06/2021 18:23

@Kirky658 oh goodness that must be so scary for your friend!! I didn’t even know anti Labour injections existed! Does she have to do anything now her waters have broken?

I only thought today I should start carrying my maternity notes with me everywhere or even keeping them in the car as you never know!

SP2Bx · 23/06/2021 18:41

Oh gosh @Kirky658 ! I guess we should take comfort in knowing that baby has a really good chance of being OK if born at this stage but it's still super scary. Funnily enough I just said to DP about 20 mins ago (as he was planning yet ANOTHER weekend of nights out with the lads) that he needs to start saying no to things now because we're in the final trimester and anything could happen, and he laughed and said don't be so ridiculous it's still way too early! I know people who have gone into spontaneous labour at 34 weeks etc so not unheard of!!! Hope all is ok with your friend and her baby.

Anyone had their anti-D recently? Mine is next week and want to know what to expect as I've heard it's in your bum cheek! 😱

Kirky658 · 23/06/2021 19:32

@cherlw @sp2bx I know, she's really scared and her hubby can only visit for 2 hours at night too. Not sure what the injection is but it's basically something they give you if your waters break early. But yes you're right at least she's in a good position for baby to be healthy x

Jay3004 · 23/06/2021 19:52

One of my friends waters broke at 27 weeks. They tried to stop labour, gave her antibiotics to prevent infection and steroids to try and mature the baby’s lungs. She managed to hold on to him until 30 weeks when she went into labour. He’s 2 and a half now and a happy healthy little boy 💙 I just text her earlier actually as I’m 27 weeks today and feel in no way prepared for a baby! xx

Kirky658 · 23/06/2021 20:10

@jay3004 awww that's brilliant glad he's a healthy little lad! I also feel very unprepared. I said to the nurse today and she said every ftm she's met feels that way 😅 x

Moominmiss · 23/06/2021 20:11

Thank you @AdventuresAwait, that’s really good to know re the whooping cough jab! I know I’m building all these things up in my head to be way worse than the reality 😂

Just want both done and to hopefully get the GTT results that show everything is fine.

We’ve got a 4d scan booked for just over 29 weeks so really looking forward to that. Feels like forever since seeing him at the 20 week scan!

unicornpower · 23/06/2021 20:41

@Kirky658 I'm so sorry about your friend, the poor thing must be terrified, like others have said though, baby has a really good chance of being okay if they're born now (obviously not ideal!) My husbands friend had hers at 32 weeks and she's fine now, its just so frightening Sad

@SP2Bx I know exactly what you mean! I've said to my husband to knock himself out with playing golf etc until September and after that he has to be local and must be contactable just in case! He normally works away a few days a week but I've insisted he's home based from mid August as I just dont want the risk! Was your partner OK with that? I suppose he's just getting it out of his system now before baby comes and he definitely can't Grin

AdventuresAwait · 23/06/2021 20:46

That's exciting @Moominmiss! We've got a 4d scan at 29+4 too. It's a rescan as baby had her arms across her face the whole time when we went last week... we'll have to see what happens this time!

SP2Bx · 23/06/2021 21:16

@unicornpower Don't be silly he won't stop going out yet 😂 I have no issue with him going out with his friends, and like he keeps saying he knows he won't be able to do it much longer, so I'm not one for telling him he can't BUT I do have an issue with him drinking Friday and Saturday nights and then being hungover all weekend because nothing is getting done around the house in preparation for baby's arrival, and he's rubbish company on weekends/we're not getting any nice days out or anything. It's just a bit inconsiderate of him in my opinion and it's wearing VERY thin because its aaaall the time!!! (but I think he knows it)

... I have just told him all these stories of women going into early labour though and he's gone a bit quiet 🙈 maybe it'll sink in!

Hopefulmummie · 23/06/2021 21:40

Had a busy day of appointments after my gtt test this morning had mt 1st growth scan this afternoon. Didn't realise it was a clinic so was in waiting for near 2 hours. But baby growing well up to 2.9lbs now and shes no longer breech which is a plus

unicornpower · 24/06/2021 08:26

@SP2Bx I totally get that, my husband isn't so much about going out drinking atm but honestly the bloody golf is driving me mad. He has a golf weekend in July for FOUR days! I honestly don't mind but we are running out of weekends now to do things Hmm they definitely will think about it and I do understand them wanting to cram in all the activities now but so do we before we become too big and uncomfortable right?

Sillysocks998 · 24/06/2021 08:34

Hi Ladies
Has anyone had a Sharpish pain around their belly button or a feeling that there belly button is bing Yanked inwards when trying to get out of bed for a wee? I'm 27 weeks. Pain went away after but I was wondering what that was. Baby was moving after but it scared me. Has anyone had this? X
