@Sillysocks998 I don’t get a sharp pain there but when I turn over or get up in bed, I often get a really intense pain on one side really low down, where the leg connects to the belly, my groin area I think! Just assuming it’s ligaments stretching and pulling!

Hopefulmummie · 24/06/2021 09:10

Can anyone recommend a good cot bed mattress?

Kirky658 · 24/06/2021 09:13

@sillysocks998 same as @squibble84 for me. Get an achy type pain if I don't roll onto my side first. I asked my midwife and she said It was ligaments stretching as I shouldn't be using my ab muscles to pull myself up now 😜

Bubbles1st · 24/06/2021 09:18

@Hopefulmummie I think the cot mattress depends very much on budget. However I was told by a few friends to get a pocket spring one over just foam or fibre. When I've looked up best mattresses they all seem keen to suggest this too.

I went for one with good reviews which was half
price. Figuring it was better than a full price one for the same amount in theory!

This is the one I got when it was £50!

@Sillysocks998, I think I might have had the feeling you're describing but it was a very quick pain if that makes sense?

Sillysocks998 · 24/06/2021 10:33

Hi ladies thanks for your replies. @Kirky658 I did try to get up a different way rather than move to a side, legs down and push myself up which I normally do. So maybe it's that. I'm keeping an eye on movements today. I think the 3rd trimester is even more worrying than the first 2. Enjoy the cooler day today xxx

SillyBry · 24/06/2021 10:50

@Hopefulmummie we bought a little green sheep cot bed mattress. It was pretty expensive, but my daughter used it for 4 years, so it had a good life!! It has a "firm" baby side and a "softer" toddler side, so you can twist it over as baby grows up.

@Sillysocks998 I've not had belly button jabs, but man alive, the baby was kicking me right in the bladder trying to sleep last night... I was getting proper "fanny daggers"! I ended up having to go and wee!!

Hopefulmummie · 24/06/2021 11:02

GTT test results were normal :) one less thing to worry about

AdventuresAwait · 24/06/2021 13:03

That's great @Hopefulmummie xx

Kirky658 · 24/06/2021 13:12

@hopefulmummie yay that's great. I will get a call tomorrow if it's positive or a letter next week if negative. So keeping everything crossed!

My friend has had her baby!!!! They were assessing his movements this morning and he was distressed. She was getting tightening but not full on contractions so they prepped her for c section. By the time her hubby arrived she was in labour and had him within 10 minutes, no pain relief!!!! Incredible. He's looking well, has been whisked off to NICU as only 31 weeks but he looked a good size and healthy from the photos she's just waitinf to hear more now. X

MrsTD88 · 24/06/2021 13:46

Great news @Hopefulmummie

@Sillysocks998 I keep getting a sharp pain when I make sudden movements where my old c-section scar is, guessing the muscles there are weaker? It takes me surprise sometimes and I end up shouting in pain. Going to ask consultant to check it at my next appointment as I suspect the pain will get worse as baby grows.

@Kirky658 oh wow, congratulations to your friend! Does baby boy have a name yet? Hopefully all well is in NICU and they get to spend some time together for skin to skin. X

Sillysocks998 · 24/06/2021 14:04

@MrsTD88 yes old scars hurt for 3 to 5 years along numbness.
@Hopefulmummie my sister had her 2nd at 27 weeks. He was 2.2 pounds. He is nearly 4 and is OK. Prem labour is a worry. @SillyBry yes I get those too. Thankfully not too much at the minute. I just had another question for you all. Does anyones discharge look off white like a blood tinge and smell a bit metallic? Usually when there's blood it smells metallic. But can't obviously see it. Xx

AdventuresAwait · 24/06/2021 14:12

Wow @Kirky658, congratulations to your friend! 31 weeks.. I'm 29 weeks so that's not much ahead of all of us really. Hope she hears more soon and so glad he's looking well!

Catkin7 · 24/06/2021 14:17

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to us all making it to the 3rd trimester 🎉

Can I ask if everyone has been set on a name yet?
We are having the issue where my daughter loves a name and won’t accept anything else.
We do like the name but also like others.
Are any of you considering your child’s feelings? My daughter is almost 9 so at a very opinionated age.

Kirky658 · 24/06/2021 14:22

@mrstd88 they've had some cuddles but he was whisked off pretty quickly so she hasnt had a lot of time with him, she is waiting now to find out what happens next. Her hubby has had to go to his nans funeral so they haven't got a name yet, what a week for them!
@sillysocks998 mine is more of a whitey yellowy colour most of the time. I'd keep an eye on it. X

SillyBry · 24/06/2021 14:29

@Catkin7 We have the same issue with names! Our 4 year old is happily telling everyone we are having a girl called Rosie.

Now, we don't dislike Rosie... but we're not set on it. But she is... "if it's a boy, he will be called Rosie!" I should be grateful because initally it was "Sergeant Rose Ravani" from Fireman Sam. Or Chase (as in the pup on Paw Patrol!)

A work colleague said her eldest called their baby by a totally different name for 2 months and then suddenly accepted that she wasn't called that any more!

Is it a name you could use as a middle name to involve the eldest?

We didn't decide on her name for about 2 days... she came home as Baby Houston... and we ended up flipping a coin over Phoebe and Naomi. She's now Naomi ;-)

crobo87 · 24/06/2021 14:35

I haven't heard from the hospital so assuming my GTT was negative, they said I'd hear within 48 hours which is over that now.

We have agreed on a name, finally. We had loads of names for a girl but couldn't agree on anything for a boy but we have finally agreed on a name we both like. I picked the middle name though, mainly because he only wanted Dennis as a middle name 🙈 we don't even know a Dennis and ideally wanted a middle name names after someone like my other 2 are. 😂😂

Catkin7 · 24/06/2021 14:46

@SillyBry my daughter is exactly the same. She wants to name her Mae. I actually do really like the name, but it’s my daughters middle name (never really used) so it’s putting me off it a bit. The other name we really like is Sofia. So a compromise would be Sofia Mae or alternatively Mae Lucia. I just can’t decide and my partner isn’t too fussed he liked both.
Trouble is we love our first daughters name (Ella) and haven’t felt that same love for any name so far.

The fireman Sam name is hilarious and totally cute!

Why is it so hard 😩

@crobo87 so jealous you have decided on a name. Feel we are so close yet so far!

AdventuresAwait · 24/06/2021 14:56

@Catkin7, yes we've got the name for our little girl. Had first name picked from the start (maybe even before she was conceived) and have now chosen a middle name that we both love. We call her it already between us but will announce it at her birth x

We have also suggestions from my husbands little girl and it's lovely to include her. We mentioned the name we've chosen a few times when discussing possibilities and she always says how nice it is so I think she'll be happy.

Sceptre86 · 24/06/2021 15:05

@Catkin7 we have the same issues. Dd and I like Arya although she likes Ana (from Frozen) too, my ds thinks that is a 'poo' name and we should name her 'Amy' from Sonic the hedgehog or Ruby. My mum isn't keen on any of those names. Dh likes Sehr which will be difficult for people to say here in Scotland. It means sunrise but is also a distant cousin's name. Our other kids are called Ayla and Ahyan so I would like something with a nice Arabic meaning that their friends and teachers will be able to pronounce. We aren't getting very far.

We had our growth scan today and she appears to be growing well, just shy of 4lb at 30 weeks apparently and most definitely is a girl. My consultant has recommended I get signed off for the next few weeks as I have been having fainting spells. He has arranged for me to have an iron transfusion as my levels are so low. Finding it hard to get into contact with a gp to get this arranged though. How is everyone else finding this last trimester?

Kirky658 · 24/06/2021 15:16

We've also got a name for our little girl. We've happily announced it to our closest family and she's now affectionately known as baby Alice. ❤️

SillyBry · 24/06/2021 15:37

@Kirky658 Alice is a gorgeous name!

@Sceptre86 @Catkin7 Honestly... whilst kids have the best intentions, they don't have complicate things!! I think my hubby is totally settled on Rosie because he doesn't have to think about it any more.
Boys names are SO much harder! I like Dylan. He likes Liam.
But like you say, I loved Naomi so much... there are no names that I am in love with this time.

And hubby is a teacher, so doesn't like names that he associates with naughty children. Plus, he doesn't like names that you can't pronounce or are long and can get changed/shortened, which makes it a challenge! He'd never taught a Naomi, so I got that past the threshold last time! LOL! And he is John, brothers Neil and Paul, so can't get simpler than that! ;-)

Sophieandtiger · 24/06/2021 15:49

Hi everyone, just been catching up on this new thread.

@SP2Bx, i had the anti D injection in my first pregnancy. When my mifwife told me I didn't need it this time, she made it sound like it was the best news ever and I should be so happy to avoid this particularly horrible injection. To be honest, I don't remember it being bad at all! No different to a jab, or a blood test. If anything I found it easier as it's in your bottom you can't see whats happening and it's pretty cushioned there :)

Lovely to hear all the baby names, we don't know what we are having and are struggling to find a name for each!

Catkin7 · 24/06/2021 15:50

@AdventuresAwait that’s a good idea. I made the mistake of saying we all had to agree on the name. Which my daughter now won’t forget and says no to any other names. The joy 😂

@Sceptre86 I like all the names you suggested. My Sister in law just called her baby Ruby and she’s so sweet. Wow 4lb that’s such a good weight! I was actually ok until this week. 29 weeks tomorrow and finding it hard to get comfortable and have a lot of growing pains. My bump is massive and can’t envision it getting bigger 😳

@Kirky658 how beautiful. Baby alive is so cute ❤️

@SillyBry i work in a primary school also so I don’t want a name I already associate with other children, which is hard as I’m leaning towards more tradition names. I actually dont have a Mae in the school which is why I like it I think. So I sympathise with your husband a lot 😂

Kirky658 · 24/06/2021 15:56

@sillybry @catkin7 also had the school problem here as DH is a teacher and wanted to avoid 'naughty kids names'. Our girls list was so much longer for choices compared to boys interestingly so I'm glad we are having a girl 😂

Also very random, I was googling after my GTT yesterday as she was so so active after. I found some threads about reduced movements the day after. Anyone experience that?
