@leftitlate37 ahhh brilliant glad you have a nice treat to look forward to! I can't see my feet now and if I drop something I want to cry 😂

I have this week and one more week left at work before finishing, can't wait now

MrsTD88 · 26/07/2021 15:30

@Mamabearwhere I had Covid October in to November last year. I had my first dose back in June, my second will be next Saturday. I felt fine the next day apart from a slight fever and headache for a few hours. Mine was at 7pm so I think I slept off the worst of it. The only thing that bothered me was a sore arm for a few days but I get like that after the flu vaccine too.

Suma2021 · 26/07/2021 15:41

@Kirky658 Definitely feel heavy! When I try to get up from lying down / reclining I feel like a tortoise stuck on it's back flailing around and usually grunting too Grin

marshmallowmode · 26/07/2021 17:52

@Mamabearwhere I've had both of mine now (and feeling so much more relaxed for it!). I had a very sore arm after the first but no other symptoms. After the second just a mildly sore arm.

@Kirky658 very heavy bump here too! He's always felt heavy and very "at the front" if that makes sense but now my bump is bigger it's even worse. I've definitely got the pregnant lady waddle now and can only do my shoes up by lifting my feet onto our garden wall 😂

SP2Bx · 26/07/2021 19:36

@Taybz This is exactly how I feel! I actually asked at my last appointment (after being asked if I had any Qs, instead of them telling me anything useful) when I start being told "stuff" like just ANYTHING? Breastfeeding, birth plan etc... Even then they barely gave me a straight answer other than birth plan discussion at 36 weeks. Don't be too hasty to ask to change midwife though. I thought my first wasn't overly forthcoming with info, but she's been the sick for my past 2 appointments and the ones I've seen as cover have been even worse!!! I'm just hoping as we get closer to the very end, like 36/38/40 wk appts that they start to take more of an interest... it's all just so routine for them!

@Bubbles1st That's AWFUL service, well done you for saying your bit. Hopefully they bear it in mind for your next appointment!

Sceptre86 · 26/07/2021 19:43

Hi everyone, so nice to catch up reading all your posts. Just after a little advice. I had tightening across my tummy last night and then a wave of pain going up my back starting from just above my bum, do you reckon they are just braxton hicks? The pain would last around a minute and didn't increase in severity but I couldn't get comfortable and so have been a zombie today. I never had them with my dd and can't remember with ds. I've also had loads of pressure down below and can only describe it as feeling like my vagina is really full. I'm waddling like a penguin as a result.

@Bubbles1st I really feel for you. Good on you for speaking up. There is no reason why she couldn't have messaged you to cancel and naturally the appointment to discuss birth options is really important to us all so I can see why you got so upset. I appreciate a lot of midwifes are overworked and undervalued but it isn't an excuse for poor care!
@Mamabearwhere I had the first Pfizer jab in June and was fine, my second dose is next week and am planning on just taking it easy. Dh has booked the afternoon off so he can take care of the kids just in case I do feel a bit off.

Bubbles1st · 26/07/2021 21:27

Thanks ladies for your support, I've felt rubbish all day, stressed at how it panned out and upset at no actual appointment still.

They are sending someone for a home visit appointment on Friday. I asked for it not to be the midwife from today 🙈

Hey @Sceptre86 ! You don't have long left do you? Could very well be BH, I've read people can get them for weeks in the run up - practice contractions! But keep an eye on it as I guess the real thing could happen any time for those of you due near the start of September 🙊 How exciting! I can't wait until we meet our first baby of the group!

Suma2021 · 27/07/2021 10:44

Morning, hope everyone is well and enjoying the cooler (ish) weather! I'm still hot though!

Bit random but thought I'd try my luck and ask. Has anyone thought about getting a waterproof mattress protector or have experience using them? Does anyone know any products / brands that are decent and actually waterproof, that don't rustle?

I've been looking for one for our bed just in case there's any spillages in the near future. Checked Amazon but can't trust reviews half the time, or reviews say they're not actually waterproof.

Any suggestions I would really appreciate Flowers

Dunelm Mill sell one which I was going to get, but reviews are poor.
Xx

unicornpower · 27/07/2021 11:09

@suma2021 I got ours from Dunelm and its good, doesn't rustle and seems waterproof so far but I have not really tested it to the max!

Suma2021 · 27/07/2021 14:56

Thanks @unicornpower ! I'll go for that then! Smile

SillyBry · 27/07/2021 15:09

I would say not sweaty/plasticky is super important for your bed as I had terrible night sweats in the early months. Waterproof cover did not help that at all!!

I’m sorry to hear you guys have had poor midwife experiences. Mine is lovely although I’ve only seen her a few times as appointments are far scarcer second time round. I would say that they are ticking off boxes in appointments, so if you have stuff you want to address, it’s best to go prepared/take it to them as they don’t have time to cover everything.
I have my 34 week appointment on Friday and then see her every two weeks until birth.

We’ve just driven home from a little holiday in Devon. I swear the baby spent the entire journey kicking me in the bladder… constant flipping fanny daggers!!

FTEngineerM · 27/07/2021 15:52

Maybe not practical but those puppy pads are not rustly so one or two may work under a sheet.

They have a get type fabric then a thin blue sheet of plastic underneath, I keep them in our nappy bag for explosions or dodgey changing tables when out and about too.

FTEngineerM · 27/07/2021 15:52

Felt not get

SillyBry · 27/07/2021 16:11

Oh yes, puppy pads are awesome!!

Kirky658 · 27/07/2021 19:17

Puppy pads also a winner haha, we use them in the car as dog gets car sick sometimes!

@sceptre86 sounds like BH, I've had similar over the last couple days and deffo waddling now. Feel like there's a bowling ball sitting on my vagina...

RadDarwazeh · 27/07/2021 20:12

I'd like to be added to the new group to whoever is making it plz thanks 😊
25th sep - suprise gender baby 💛

Sad to hear some of you aren't having nice midwife experiences. It does feel rushed at times.

Haven't began a birth plan but will read the positive birth book, Ty for the suggestion!

Been building the nursery furniture with DH after two days it's finally done. Mamas and papas cotbed was awful to build. Should have gone IKEA all the way like the wardrobe and chest of drawers! I'll pop some pics up too

@raddarwazeh your nursery looks beautiful 😍

FTEngineerM · 27/07/2021 20:25

I looooove it @RadDarwazeh well done on putting all that together 😂

RadDarwazeh · 27/07/2021 21:02

Thank you so much, girls! @Kirky658 @FTEngineerM

Just need to decide where to put things for the wall art and decor. Main bits are all built now thank goodness. Phew xx

GWhiteley · 27/07/2021 21:53

@Bubbles1st so sorry to hear you've been having a rubbish time with your midwife, I would most definitely have done the same if it were me - bloody cheek! I've got my birthing plan midwife app tomorrow & already have a couple of things I want to talk about. Don't know what others have been told, but I'm fairly sure it is used by the midwives in the hospital when you do go into labour.

I'm 34+4 today & am really starting to feel uncomfortable, especially in the evenings when she's most active. She's moving around so much its really unpleasant & almost makes me feel sick. She's also doing some serious kicks! Is anyone else at my stage feeling the same?

Kirky658 · 27/07/2021 22:03

@gwhiteley I'm 33 weeks tomorrow so just behind you but feeling the same. She's so active constantly throughout the day and now she's head down it's so uncomfortable . And sometimes her kicks, wow, she's strong!!!

SillyBry · 27/07/2021 22:35

@GWhiteley I’m 34 weeks and have had nauseating fanny dagger kicks all day. Definitely feeling quite lumpy and uncomfortable now!!!

Bubblegum20 · 27/07/2021 22:41

@GWhiteley you're a whole week ahead of me and my little bambino is so active too, constantly kicking and moving around!

I've got my first consultant appt in person on Friday it's been telephone appts until now and just seeing the midwife in person, not sure what to expect think it's probably the same type of thing as a midwife appt as I'm not seeing the midwife from now on just the consultant! Has anyone else had this before?
