@Kirky658 that’s good about your pay next month!! One more pay before baby is here 😱.

I’m tidying bits a time as it’s just been too hot and I need to have a break all the time! At least it’s getting done even if it is really slowly!

Bubbles1st · 24/07/2021 07:33

Hey ladies! We will soon need a new thread which could potentially be the last before the babies start arriving 😳

I have a seen a few new ladies join over recent weeks however short of going through all the messages I don't know who you are and your due dates!

If you would like to be included in the list on the new thread please tag me in a post with your due date and sex if known and I will include you.

One of those topics which I don’t want to think about but have to also! I keep hearing rules in hospitals might change when it comes to maternity. Does anyone know where we can find details online about the trusts in our areas? Last thing I knew I could have one birth partner the entire Labour and a 2nd one in established Labour… then after the birth I assume it’s either set times or visiting hours depending on what ward you would be in.

CherLW · 24/07/2021 18:39

Also… ALDI Baby Event starts 29th July or online 25th July!

Kirky658 · 24/07/2021 18:39

@cherlw I'd guess the best person to speak to would be your midwife. Ours isn't changing, just one birth partner still.

I've packed mine and baby's bags today 😍

KHR1 · 24/07/2021 18:58

@CherylLW some hopsital trusts have the rules on their website, I googled my hopsital trust and "maternity rules" and it shows all the guidance. Really hope it doesn't change though as it's so important people get support through and after labour.

CherLW · 24/07/2021 19:18

@Kirky658 @KHR1 I keep looking at things just seem like the haven’t been updated. I’ll definitely talk to my midwife tho… I just hate the not knowing.

Suma2021 · 24/07/2021 19:36

@Bubbles1st Hello! Yes please include me in the next thread too Smile

Due 21st September with a boy.

Thank you for arranging Flowers

marshmallowmode · 24/07/2021 20:29

@CherLW My trust update their Facebook page when they review the rules. Unfortunately the last few times the update has just been "no change". We're still at 1 birth partner in active labour only and only 2 hours of visiting a day for that 1 partner on postnatal wards 😢. I don't see that changing for the better now so just have to cross my fingers and hope for a straightforward birth I guess. Seems to be the strictest trust I've heard of with regards to maternity rules.

crobo87 · 24/07/2021 20:30

@CherLW definitely ask your midwife. Ours have been relaxed for some but we can still only have 1 birth partner throughout. I am also
Worried though that they may change them again with the rising cases

crobo87 · 24/07/2021 20:32

I'm just home from a 2 night stay in hospital. Blood pressure isn't playing ball again.
They've upped my medication from 300mg per day to 900mg per day and it's still high 🙈.
They've sent me home with twice weekly midwife checks and I have to be admitted again if the bottom number goes above 100. It's currently sitting between 94/95 mostly.
Baby is fine & all my blood & urine tests have been normal, no signs of pre eclampsia or anything.

Kirky658 · 24/07/2021 20:47

@marshmallowmode same as our trust unfortunately they seem to be one of the last in the country to change the rules 😭

@crobo87 sorry you've been suffering hun, glad they're keeping an eye on you.

CherLW · 24/07/2021 20:48

@marshmallowmode @crobo87 I just saw my trust is still 1 partner for the whole time and a second one for the end bit. I’m only having 1 but hoping the babies dad can come in soon after the birth as my 2nd one. They have to leave within 3 hours I think and then one person can visit for 3 hours on visiting hours. I’ll definitely be staying in as I have gestational diabetes… I guess what will be will be, as long as baby is safe and healthy I’ll be ok

CherLW · 24/07/2021 20:49

@crobo87 thinking of you, hope they are getting g things under control for you x

AdventuresAwait · 24/07/2021 20:56

I've just googled the current rules for my hospital with regards to a c-section. If in a room, partners can stay the whole time until discharged. If not, they have to leave overnight but can come back in the morning. Really hoping I get a room! But the rules might change in the next 6 weeks anyway I guess. Not sure about other visitors xx

SP2Bx · 24/07/2021 21:07

Re. Birthing partners it will vary trust by trust, but don't forget, in most cases you aren't admitted until you're in "active/established labour" anyway, ie. you'll get sent home unless you're at least 4cm. So it only really affects you if you're going in early to be induced or something - sounds much scarier than it will actually end up being for many of us.

Good to keep an eye on what the guidelines are so that we can all prepare as best we can, since whatever happens will be out of our control! I think the best place to find out would be your trusts website.

@crobo87 ❤️

KHR1 · 24/07/2021 21:16

@CherLW hopefully they are updated for the better soon. My area seems to have relaxed them quite a bit, 1 birth partner for the whole thing then visiting 9-12, 2-5 and 6-8. Really hope more areas make their policies better, should be consistent for everyone.

@crobo87 sorry that you've been having trouble with your BP, hope the upped medication helps

MrsTD88 · 24/07/2021 21:20

@CherLW my local hospital has details for their hospital visiting/maternity etc on their website. The local Trust have just updated their rules. At the moment mine is one birth partner all the way through and then a second later if wanted. Then birth partner and one designated visitor afterwards. Expecting that to change though with all the uncertainty at the moment. They also want you to isolate for 3 days before an operation so guessing my elective section will fall into that category.

@crobo87 I hope things improve for you now your medication has been upped.

Kirky658 · 24/07/2021 22:16

@khr1 I'm coming to live wherever you are! Our visiting is 9-1 or 2-6. Neither of which would be suitable for my DH as he's a teacher. I don't want him to waste his paternity leave only being able to spend 4 hours or so with us each day so I'm hoping for an easy birth so we can make the most of our time together. It's something I am really fretting and worrying about but I know I can't change it.

In more positive news for any of you that remember my friend who gave birth at 31 weeks - her DS has been allowed home just 4 weeks after birth and spending time in the NICU! They'd originally said he'd be in till his due date so I'm over the moon for them.

KHR1 · 24/07/2021 22:48

@Kirky658 guessing where I live has been updated recently as before it was 1/2 hours visiting, hopefully more areas will follow. Yeah, would seem like a waste of precious paternity leave for him if you were in for a few days - hopefully you will be out quickly. I was in for 2 days after my DD was born and would have really struggled if visiting times were so specific, I understand why hospitals need to be careful but if someone is allowed to visit anyway I don't understand why the times are so restricted.
