We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

@Normando91 I’ve had the balloon inserted. It wasn’t exactly pleasant but my cervix apparently was particularly uncooperative which didn’t help, so they had to give it a good few attempts and some uncomfortable manipulations but they did get there. Lots of cramps for a couple of hours after like really bad period pains but has settled now. I expected it to be really painful having it inserted but it was really more uncomfortable than anything else.

@Waitingforbabypage Ah okay! Got ya

ChasingARainbow · 13/06/2021 17:25

I've just started a pessary induction, really wishing I didn't have the reduced movements yesterday and I could have waited a bit longer to try and start naturally.
I've really enjoyed my pregnancy so far but actually dreading this part x

AlRRRR · 13/06/2021 18:13

@ChasingARainbow did they induce you because the movements have changed? x

AlRRRR · 13/06/2021 18:14

@swifttGoodluck then!! Do you have to stay in? x

MimiDaisy11 · 13/06/2021 18:15

@Sitchervice
Sorry things haven't gone well. Hopefully, things have progressed/are progressing.

@swiftt
It's good to read the update on the balloon. I was thinking about asking about this if I have to go in for induction which I'm convinced I will have to. Is it fine to move around with? Do you notice it? I was reading the leaflet they gave me with the different options and they said for both the balloon and the pessary you can just go about life normally but I'm wondering if that will be the case. If I go for induction I'm hoping to be an outpatient in the beginning.

ChasingARainbow · 13/06/2021 19:53

@AlRRRR I went in yesterday morning for reduced movements and they booked me in for today. I've been on the CTG machine for an hour today and baby was moving well- wish I had thought to ask to go home as the movements are back to normal.

swiftt · 13/06/2021 19:58

@AlRRRR no, I’m at home thankfully!

@MimiDaisy11 oh I can definitely notice it but I’m reasonably comfortable, more just aware that it’s there. There are 3 plastic tubes hanging out of my bits down to my knees 😂 it’s a bit awkward for going to the loo and stuff, but I’ve been able to drive, get up and down the stairs, bounce on my ball, etc. The cramping for the first hour or so was awful but totally fine now. And so glad to be able to relax at home instead of being induced on the ward. About to have a nice warm bath too. I’m much happier with trying the balloon first as it’s not meant to cause uterine overstimulation and really intense contractions like the pessary can, it’s meant to be a much more gentle induction. Fingers crossed anyway.

@ChasingARainbow totally understand how you feel. Part of me keeps thinking I wonder if I should have given things more time. My CTG was fine and movements back to normal too. But at the end of the day, I just want baby here safely now. Could have ended up leaving things to go naturally and still needing induced at 42 weeks. This is the kind of thing I’m telling myself anyway! Hope the induction goes smoothly for you. Flowers

Dear all,
Good luck to all you ladies in the process of inductions. I was booked in on Wednesday for a balloon induction at 41+5 weeks. Started spontaneous contractions at 2:30am on Wed that were 10 mins apart all day. Went to my induction appointment and was told was already 5cm dilated but they wouldnt admit until contractions were 2 every 10 mins so was sent home to wait.

Things snowballed from there leading stalling of labour to having my waters broken, failure to progress (dilating less than 1cm in 6 hours) even after the drip and resulted in an EMCS.

But after all this our baby boy, Thomas, safely arrived on Friday afternoon. Worth everything over the last few days.

ChasingARainbow · 13/06/2021 23:04

@swiftt hope you're getting on ok tonight. I'm getting quite instead cramping in my pelvis and down the top of my thighs.
Had some codeine earlier but committed within 30 minutes so just bouncing on a birthing ball now.
@fluffybunny86 congratulations, I'm trying to concentrate on the end result so it's good to hear your story. X

AlRRRR · 13/06/2021 23:07

@swiftt ah good!!!!

AlRRRR · 13/06/2021 23:09

@ChasingARainbow Good luck’ Lots of deeeeep breathes! I birthed the 1st on coedine and paracetamol every 4 hours! x

Sitchervice · 14/06/2021 01:48

He's out!! So tired photos to follow tomorrow/today

swiftt · 14/06/2021 04:12

@ChasingARainbow wide awake and feeling a bit deflated that I’ve had barely any pains since the balloon was inserted. Slightly worried it means it’s not working, or maybe I’m just lucky. Who knows. Hope you’re doing okay!

@Sitchervice great news - congratulations!

@Sitchervice congratulations!!! Welcome to the world little Eland xxx

Normando91 · 14/06/2021 10:32

@Sitchervice Congratulations! Love the name Eland 💙

@swiftt Hope things have started progressing for you today 🤞🏻

I’ve had some cramping this morning and baby boy had a mad active night last night but I don’t think I’m anywhere close to anything happening 😂

Sitchervice · 14/06/2021 11:35

@AlRRRR I had a 3 day labour and took the epidural which I do not regret. He came out pretty quickly once I hit 10cm. I'd say it was a positive birth as pain is always going to be a part of birth.

Only bit that wasn't good was the induction.

AlRRRR · 14/06/2021 11:41

@Sitchervice Aw that’s brill! Well
done you!!! :)

PinkPlantCase · 14/06/2021 11:42

I had a sweep today at 40+ 6 I am 1cm dilated and cervix is very thin Grin think we might be meeting baby soon!!

Sweep was fine, I couldn’t really feel much when they did it, I think because things were already looking favourable so all quite easy for midwife to do.

I actually can’t wait to eat my labour food, I’ve got a stash of sweets that we’ve been saving.
