We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

I spoke to my health visitor today. I said I wanted to introduce one formula bottle a day to start with and she recommended dropping the early evening boob feed as this is when mamas milk production is at its least productive. Also great for me as hoping it means I can do my eldest's bedtime. She said if I wanted to introduce a second bottle then the 2am-ish feed was another good one to try but she advised to leave it a good few days before the second bottle feed. Obvs your HV might advise something different but thought I'd share this info.

Hope you're all well.

My boobs are feeling seriously worn out today! Ellis has just wanted to be feeding and comforting on me all day. Looking forward to introducing the formula feed tomorrow to give these pancakes a rest Wink. Just hope he accepts it... That's another challenge altogether!!!

AlRRRR · 13/07/2021 19:40

@serenfach1 That’s good to hear! I have done 8am, 2pm and she will have a bottle around 9 tonight :) Seems to be going well :)

Sitchervice · 13/07/2021 20:07

Anyone else's baby skin pealing? Eland has a seriously flaky head!

Lovethatjourneyforme · 13/07/2021 21:33

@Sitchervice mine did, midwife said they're like snakes, they shed a layer 🤣

She also has very mild cradle cap which I mistook for dry skin at first

PinkPlantCase · 13/07/2021 21:55

@Sitchervice mine peeled loads on his hands and feet. Lasted less than a week Smile

TerryRose · 18/07/2021 08:38

Safe to say all babies have arrived by now ?! What an exciting journey it's been .
Hope you are all coping with the heat!!!
My mother visited yesterday which was fab and thankfully she pointed out that the sheets I was using in my LO day cot were too warm for this weather , I never would have thought of it and at the same time can't believe I didn't think of it as I've been Googling every other kinds weather related baby thing in this hot weather! Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else did the same as me!

serenfach1 · 18/07/2021 08:55

@TerryRose interesting! What kind of sheets are too warm for this weather and what would be a better option? It's already so hot here today!

AlRRRR · 18/07/2021 09:20

@TerryRose do you mean a sheet that they’re laid on?

Mine’s in a nappy all day, no clothes day night but swaddles in a merino swaddle or muslin at night with window’s open and a fan going around :)

TerryRose · 18/07/2021 13:40

@AlRRRR @serenfach1 so the sheets were described as 100% cotton so they are the pink yellow ones in the pic and they are just kinda warm feeling so she was getting sweaty in them, the one I changed it for (star white sheets) is described as 100% cotton jersey and just seems a more breathable fabric so not sure if it's just the quality of them.

@TerryRose thank you! Had no idea sheets could make a difference. I'm really looking forward to the end of the week when the temperature drops. Hope you're all managing to cope in this unbearable heat.

AlRRRR · 21/07/2021 16:17

@TerryRose Ah ok!!!!! :)

Sweetmad · 24/07/2021 19:45

How’s everyone getting on? Teds 7 weeks old tomorrow feel like time it flying! X

AlRRRR · 24/07/2021 20:05

@Sweetmad Not very good! 4.5 weeks here, cry’s unless asleep, sick when feeding
both at breast and bottle, and impossible with a 4 year old, either someone starves or someone cries 😩😩😩😩 Not enjoying newborn stage at all, can’t wait for it to end, roll on December 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sitchervice · 24/07/2021 20:07

Eland is doing OK. Colic is almost under control with Infracol. I'm doing a Cross between Co sleep and cot sleep. I know most people are against Co sleep though. But sometimes it's Co sleep or no sleep

TerryRose · 24/07/2021 21:36

@AlRRRR that sound so tough especially with a toddler !

@Sitchervice yeah I've to do the same , mix of cot and co sleep , for the last two nights she falls asleep in my arms but as soon as I move her to her cot she's wide awake again and still won't take a soother 🙈 she just wants to be on me all the time which is grand but also tiring as she's getting heavier🤣 five weeks old today . I think she might have a bit of colic as well, I am breastfeeding but have to wind her so much which is meant to be unusual for breastfed babies, the evening is the hardest, she will feed for a few minutes then start crying and squirming as I think she just gets too tired to latch properly

Sweetmad · 24/07/2021 22:30

@AIRRRR Oh hun😔hoping things Improve for you soon keep going mama you got this! Take each day as it comes. Do you have a partner who can help with your 4 year old?

Things have been tough for me here too. Had to change his milk due to Aptamil being too rich and him struggling to pass wind constantly squirming all night and the endless visits to GOSH for his hypothyroidism haven’t been fun. Trying to push 3ml of thyroxine in a hungry babies mouth isn’t fun every morning and then with holding milk for half an hour whilst it sinks into his system 😫heartbreaking

Keep strong ladies xxx

AlRRRR · 25/07/2021 04:23

@Sweetmad yes i know, 😩😩😩😩😩

are you doing just formula now, which one have you changed to? we were using kenalmil but we think that’s too rich as they use full fat cream, so now trying HIPP organic. We do expressed milk in bottles in day and formula n breast st night (like now) IF she’ll take it, she’s always been a boob hater

Lovethatjourneyforme · 25/07/2021 16:03

We're doing alright, she's a pretty good sleeper at the moment which I think makes so much difference - everything's so much harder when you're very sleep deprived.
Only issue we're having at the moment is fussiness and crying when she's feeding, I think because of wind. We're on Kendamil, I have wondered whether it's too rich but I think we're going to try a different bottle first and just give her little while to adjust to it fully - she was combi fed, kinda still is but is now mostly formula so just giving her a bit longer to get used to having that much of it.

@Sweetmad did changing to Aptamil make much difference to your little ones wind?

AlRRRR · 25/07/2021 17:06

@Lovethatjourneyforme My little one is on Kendalmil, maybe 3 bottles a day and the rest is breast milk expressed and we have just started on dentinox for colic/ wind…. I top, have wondered if it’s too rich and i’ve seen others saying the same but the ingredints are so good and it has a huge demand I kinda wana stick to it! My other alternative was HIPP organic but it has fish oil and rennet in which is a big no no for me!

Some have said going up a size in the teat can help? Does she still breastfeed?

Lovethatjourneyforme · 25/07/2021 18:07

@AIRRRR yeah I'm the same, would like to use it because I like that it has no fish oil etc. Will of course change if needed though.

I tried the bigger teat size because she kept dozing off on the smaller teat, but she chokes on the next size up! We were using MAM bottles, going to give Avent a go instead I think x

Sweetmad · 25/07/2021 18:15

@AIRRR @Lovethatjourneyforme we changed from Aptamil to Cow and Gate as it’s less rich apparently although has same ingredients and is made by the same company. He’s less windy but seems more hungry however think he’s going through a new growth spurt. I expressed for a week with Ted as he wasn’t latching well but it got too much and we changed exclusively to formula

Lovethatjourneyforme · 25/07/2021 18:22

And it's more breastsnacking than feeding to be honest Grin my supply is tapering off now, I do still feed her but can't really do a full feed anymore

PinkPlantCase · 25/07/2021 19:07

Our DS is doing well. 5.5 weeks now, he’s been cluster feeding more during the day for the last few days but he’s much more effective at feeding at night now so the night wakings don’t last as long Smile

I’ve started to feel quite lonely though. Counting down the time sometimes until DH gets home. I don’t know if it just that with the heat in the last week I couldn’t get out as much. I don’t really know many other people who are at home during the day.
