We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

@ChasingARainbow oh congratulations, sorry you had a bit of a rollar coster. Its weird the first hours can't stop staring. Thinking I made this!!

Normando91 · 16/06/2021 06:26

Been contracting for 4 and a half hours. My god they are intense! Managed to tidy the house a little and have a warm bath between the pain. Rang triage and they’re quite happy with how I’m coping, contractions currently 8 minutes apart. No waters but had blood when I went to bathroom.

Think I might be having my baby boy today 🥺💙

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 06:29

@Normando91 awww and we were just talking yday about when it might start! ;)

Have you told them about the blood? My birth centre said to ring triage if I see blood or unclear waters

Normando91 · 16/06/2021 06:32

@AlRRRR Yeah, she’s said to put a pad on which I already had and phone back in an hour, earlier if my waters go or there’s more blood.

The contractions are so irregular. I really hope it doesn’t stop, I’ve got myself as mentally prepared as I can be! 🙈😂

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 06:34

@Normando91 you’ll be fine!! If it’s first baby, it’s normal for them to be irregular and take a day or so to get going ☺️☺️☺️☺️ It’s all happening for you now! :) Keep us updated

Normando91 · 16/06/2021 10:23

So after contracting for 7 hours I suddenly stopped 🙈 Phoned my midwife as I had an appointment at 1pm today anyway and she’s advised just going in for a sweep, reckons it’ll get things going again. She said from what I’ve told her, baby should be along within the next 24 hours 😬

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 10:48

@Normando91 Oooo sounds promising!! Good luck and don’t worry about the timing etc, get all those feel good hormones flowing and keep relaxed!!

PinkPlantCase · 16/06/2021 12:52

Our baby boy arrived in the early hours of this morning at 40+8. He was born in the birth pool in our living room as planned Grin it was pretty amazing tbh. Things did move faster than expected so we did have paramedics with us for a bit until the midwife got there just before baby started crowning. Paramedics were great though, they helped me get in the pool and then just stood back.

Baby’s been so chilled, hoping that continues.

Taylor1896 · 16/06/2021 13:03

@PinkPlantCase Wow! Beautiful! Congratulations to you and your family!

@Normando91 good luck to you!! Sounds like things are happening. Hopefully baby will be with you soon!

Its my due date today, had a sweep this morning, LOTS of bloody show since, no cramps yet. We shall see 😘

TerryRose · 16/06/2021 13:23

Congrats @PinkPlantCase !!

TerryRose · 16/06/2021 13:26

So had my appointment today , I am 40
Weeks 2 days (due date was Monday ) she tried to do a sweep but failed as my cervix is high and kinda off centre so she said to get on the ball and try and get it centred, I had a feeling a sweep wouldn't work , it was painful but more so because she couldn't reach 🤣🙈

Baby heartbeat and fluid is fine and she is hopeful I'll go into labour naturally as the head is well done but I am booked in for an induction next Wednesday and she reckons it would be the 24th at the latest for arrival .

She recommended evening primrose capsules to be inserted vaginally , I bought some but googled it and saw on other forums that some midwives don't recommend doing it vaginally , my friend said it did help her with contractions but she still ended up being induced.
Just wondering has anyone else tried it or any advice about the evening primrose oil capsules ??

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 14:44

@PinkPlantCase Oh wow !! How amazing, well done you! 🙏🏻 for chilled times ❤️❤️

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 14:45

@TerryRose oh gosh, an off centre cervix! Yikes hahahah Not heard of any capaules that you insert vaginally sorry!

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 14:45

@Taylor1896 Good luck!!

TerryRose · 16/06/2021 14:50

@AlRRRR I know didn't even know that could happen 🤣 yeah so apparently just the ordinary ones you buy in Tesco evening primrose, they can be inserted either end 🙈 but not sure how I feel about that 🤣

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 14:57

@TerryRose Gosh me neither 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Don’t think I’d dare put anything up there, feels like sacred ground of something 🤣🤣🤣 hahhaahha.
My MW said she would do a sweep from week 40, and then every 48 hours if I wished, sounds epic 🙄🙄🙄🙄 How often will yours do it ?

TerryRose · 16/06/2021 16:15

@AlRRRR they aren't going to do any more sweeps as no point with the way the cervix is so she said just keep on the ball and gave me exercises to do and I won't be back in hospital until next Wednesday for induction!

swiftt · 16/06/2021 16:49

My baby girl finally arrived this morning. 8lb 6oz, Grace Violet. Absolutely besotted with her.

An update on how my induction went. Had balloon inserted Sunday at 1cm dilated. Nothing happened. Had it removed Monday, barely 2cm. Back Tuesday to have my waters broken at 12pm. AgainX 1-2cm dilated and cervix hard - basically, my body was not ready at all. Pretty quickly I had terrible pains in my back. Baby was sitting back to back and the syntocin drip made the contractions so intense. After a couple of hours, I decided to have an epidural as I wasn’t coping. Basically, it didn’t work - I was still getting intense pains at one side of my back, so the next couple of hours were pretty horrific whilst they tried to reposition it. Eventually I did get some relief for a couple of hours and felt like a new woman! But after 8 hours on the drip up at 16, I was only 3-4cm dilated. At this point the epidural failed down one side again. Managed to get a top up which seemed to work. Another couple of hours later and it failed for a third time down one side and the tops ups of fentanyl weren’t even coming close to touching the pain. Eventually decided on an emergency C section which absolutely was not my plan, but I had 14 hours of labour and had still only reached 5cm. I couldn’t physically tolerate the drip being ramped up any more and with the epidural being so hit and miss, I had to make the decision to go for a section. She’s here and she’s healthy and that’s the main thing. Don’t want this to sound like a negative story, but my birth plan was water birth, hypnobirthing, staying upright and mobile etc etc. Babies really do want they want! I did feel like I’d missed out on the vaginal birth that I so wanted, but the surgeon also said that I’d made the right decision with the position that she’d been in.

Hope everyone is well and the babies are arriving!

@swiftt ahhhh congratulations lovely!!! Beautiful name! Hope you are all doing well! Lots of love ❤️

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 17:11

@swiftt Oh gosh !!! Glad it’s over for you now and baby is here safe and sound! Labours are soooo unpredictable!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

AlRRRR · 16/06/2021 17:54

@TerryRose Ah so at least you have an end date!! Anything could happen between now and then 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Nellle · 16/06/2021 18:03

So interesting to hear about all the different experiences everyone is having! The common denominator is that it's all worth it when beautiful babies arrive! Congrats to everyone who is there already.

I'm 40+3. Everything is as it should be for now, so I've declined sweeps and haven't booked an induction. Will have a rethink next week. Until then, lots of ball bouncing!

TerryRose · 16/06/2021 18:41

@Nellle it really is and it just shows baby is boss at the end of the day 🤣😊 best of luck

Sitchervice · 16/06/2021 19:15

@TerryRose baby is indeed boss XD

Lovethatjourneyforme · 16/06/2021 19:46

Congratulations to everyone that's had their baby, lots of arrivals in the last few days 😊

For those who have already had theirs, what are your little ones wearing during the day and night in this weather? Our bubs have picked an incredibly hot time to arrive haha
