We’re coming to the end of our last thread so here is, hopefully, the final instalment of our journeys. I’m going to compile a list of due dates and births from the last thread and I’ll post them below.

Hopefully we’ll have lots more baby announcements on the way! How is everyone doing?

@Firsttimeconcerns consultants have a really good way of wording things to make the option that they love, sound the best (sections are easy for them). Remember that third trimester scanning can be very inaccurate. Your body will make a baby thats the correct size for you, why would it make a baby you cant birth? Its been that way since the beginning of time. Also, flip the stats. If they are saying risk of baby getting stuck, whats the percentage that baby WONT get stuck. Just something to think about for you x

Firsttimeconcerns · 15/06/2021 10:09

@Taylor1896 thank you. Really useful to think about. I did so much hypnobirthing reading towards the start of my pregnancy and I'm forgetting to practise what I learnt. I need to trust my body more I think.

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 10:40

@Firsttimeconcerns They said my baby was really small and she came
out 7’7 as they scanned me at in 3rd trimester, Loads of women have babies
that are 8/9/10/11/12 lbs and manage, how big are they predicting?

PinkPlantCase · 15/06/2021 10:52

@Firsttimeconcerns though I agree that generally a big baby shouldn’t be cause for concern, as @Taylor1896 said bodies don’t generally grow babies that are too big for them! Though I’d be a bit more wary of induction, if you went into spontaneous labour then your body will have done lots of things to get baby into the best position for birth etc. Whereas induction can be quite different to spontaneous labour, maybe talk more about the outcomes of inductions for different scenarios where the baby is large with the doctor tomorrow? Eg. How likely is an instrumental delivery as part of the induction process or how many women in that hospital go onto have a emcs after an induction.

Of course though as you say baby may not be large at all!!

Firsttimeconcerns · 15/06/2021 10:53

@AlRRRR I have another growth scan tomorrow. I'm 38 weeks now. The last scan at 36 weeks said baby was already 7lbs 6 so on track to be 9lbs 5 or above by 40 weeks.

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 10:55

@Firsttimeconcerns okay! I suppose all you can do is see what your scan says tomorrow and be guided by that! A planned CS is 100% better than an EMCS, so go with your gut feeling! xx

Firsttimeconcerns · 15/06/2021 13:18

@PinkPlantCase thank you for the advice 🥰

TerryRose · 15/06/2021 13:22

Just wondering do you think raspberry leaf tea really works ?? I haven't tried it as I hate raspberry flavour 🤣🙈 but I'm 40 weeks 1 day with no signs of labour so eager to get the ball moving any little bit .

I used the hot tea mama raspberry leaf tea I just tasted like peppermint tea which was nice .

Not sure it had any effect though didn't feel anything specific after drinking it

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 13:34

@TerryRose It doesn’t taste of raspberry one bit haha! It’s the leaves that you stew and it’s more akin to a green tea flavour than anything else! I add honey once cooled a little :)

I drink it in general anyway but have been trying to have 2 cups a day as oppose to one every few days ☺️☺️

I drank it with my 1st preg and she came
on due date… I’ve been getting some
cramps / period pains etc but no idea if it’s related. You really need to drink it from week 33 ish to have a great effect (i think) and people pair it with dates, whether or not this all works is anyone’s guess but it’s
suppose to shorten labour slightly strengthening the uterine muscles

Sitchervice · 15/06/2021 17:07

@Firsttimeconcerns you may have already been told this but scans can only give an estimate, Eland was estimated to be late 6s but he's 7.5. We were also told he'd be really long and he's not that long.

TerryRose · 15/06/2021 17:28

@AlRRRR @123feraverto

Ahh ok I thought it would be like some sickly raspberry taste haha probably too late for me to start drinking it at this stage 🤣 hopefully spicy food and bouncing the ball will get things moving for me

Normando91 · 15/06/2021 17:38

Oh I loved the Raspberry Tea Leaf, ran out and forgot to order more and it’s probably too late now 😂
I’ve been trying to walk up and down my stairs loads today. My PGP is so intense I don’t want to go outside as the waddle is ridiculous and at least at home I can scream and wince as much as I like 🙈 Getting so fed up of people telling me he will come when he’s ready… I know that, but why can’t he be ready now!! 😂😂😂

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 17:48

@TerryRose Yes I probs wouldn’t bother 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 How many weeks are you now, did you say 40+1?

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 17:49

@Normando91 I know, you just sit there wondering, when will it actually start, 1/2 scared, 1/2 excited 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 How many weeks are you?

Normando91 · 15/06/2021 17:57

@AlRRRR Everytime I get any feeling in my belly I’m like, this is it, this is it!! Nope, just indigestion 😫
I’m 39+2 now. I have the midwife tomorrow and will be given my induction date which I imagine will be sometime after the 25th. So stairs, walking, bouncing, spicy food (if I can handle it) fresh pineapple and clary sage baths are all happening!

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 18:18

@Normando91 Ooooo sounds like a plan! I’m 4 days behind you, and the MW has booked the sweep for 40 weeks, are you having that too before the induction? x

Normando91 · 15/06/2021 18:39

@AlRRRR Yeah, I’ll be offered that tomorrow for 40 weeks but I think I’m going to decline unless they think it’s really necessary. But if I’m going to be induced at 41 weeks regardless, I’d rather just continue trying to get things to go naturally.

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 19:25

@Normando91 how come they induce you at 41 weeks and not 42, is thar just your local authorities policy? :)

hopefully you’ll just start! Have you has any BH’s or pains etc?

Normando91 · 15/06/2021 19:30

@AlRRRR
Yeah, just my hospitals policy.
I don’t think I’ve had any BH. My bump goes quite hard sometimes but it lasts ages, not like a couple minutes. Had some sharp pains, but really don’t think it’s the start of anything. Haven’t lost my plug or had any show.
How are you getting on?

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 19:34

@Normando91 Ah okay! I’m super nosey and just wondered what other trusts do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well I’m feeling super uncomfy and getting pains / aches in lower back (sporadically) and lower cervix ‘area’ pains but with my 1st, it just started and was obvious contractions. It hurts when baby moves now, twisting and pushing down, MW said 3/5 head still out but she probs bobs in and out 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣 feel quite nauseous and boobs leaking a lot at night, which also did not happen with 1st

Normando91 · 15/06/2021 19:44

@AlRRRR Oh yes, my boobs are leaking so bad. I have to put pads on when I leave the house. Quite sad waking up and realising how much colostrum is being wasted overnight 😔
I feel you with the movements, I swear he moves his bum from one side to the other now and it feels like my entire organs are being shifted! He was 3/5 engaged on Wednesday so hoping they will tell me he’s further along tomorrrow 🤞🏻 Just feels like the days are dragging now!

AlRRRR · 15/06/2021 19:47

@Normando91 it gets bloody uncomfy towards the end!! Someone asked me today if I’d like another one, weird since this one is firmly still inside 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Like asking someone if they’d like another meal when one’s still in front if them… weird 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Normando91 · 16/06/2021 02:31

Currently awake after being woken for the second time with the most intense period like cramps. My stomach goes rock hard when it happens and I feel it all mostly in my lower back/bum… I spent a good 10 mins on the loo first time as thought I was just constipated 🙈 Waddled downstairs for some paracetamol and a glass of milk. I’m not getting my hopes up as I’ve had absolutely no other signs and I know even these pains can come and go and last days. Have midwife at 1pm, hopefully she can tell me if it’s anything… if I make it to the appointment 😳

ChasingARainbow · 16/06/2021 02:40

So after starting an induction on Sunday at 5pm our baby arrived earlier this evening after a bit of an emergency and unplanned c section, will type more tomorrow. All's well that ends well though and I'm currently sat staring at her in her little cot x
