I really feel for you @Elm98. I had a similar experience over the summer after having a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy for a breast lump I found. I felt completely traumatised by the whole thing, mainly because there was very little explanation throughout the whole process and also because there was so much waiting on my own due to covid. Mix that with being pregnant and traumatised was definitely the word. Thankfully for me the lump turned out to be benign and I'm keeping everything crossed for you that they manage to put your mind at rest in your next scan and you'll be able to put this whole experience behind you Flowers

AnonymousXXIX · 08/10/2021 20:21

@elm98 wow what a thing to go through. I don't know what to write that'll help. I hope you have lots of support and that the weeked will be a good distraction or at least an opportunity to rest up from this a bit.

flowersatthecastle · 09/10/2021 07:26

@Elm98 sorry to read this. Doesn't sound like this has been handled in the best way. Would you consider requesting an additional appointment with the midwife to discuss further just so you can understand a bit more before your next scan? Hope you & your OH are doing okay x

1ce1cebaby · 09/10/2021 08:03

@Elm98 I’m sorry to hear that. It must have been very distressing. And so rubbish they make you wait alone - if your husband is in the hospital already why can he not be in the room?! Makes no sense. Hopefully nothing comes of it and your next scan is positive. Whilst 4 weeks I’m sure is an agonising wait, hopefully the fact they are waiting 4 weeks to review is a good sign. I hope you get some info and clarity before then x

Elm98 · 09/10/2021 08:22

I do understand due to covid measures why they are limiting people coming in but what I find so frustrating is that they let my partner in for the first scan and then he has to wait outside of the clinic behind locked doors, so he had already been in.

But then a lady throwing a large argument and abusing staff about wearing a mask and her partner not being able to come in was accommodated in a room with her partner for the whole process. I would never dream of abusing the staff like that; it’s not their fault the restrictions are in place. (Maybe I should be less bitter and concentrate on myself)

They have sent through an appointment for November so we are just trying to stay positive until then.
It was a long day yesterday and feel like this morning we are both in a better place. We are just taking each day as it comes and little bean is busy kicking up a storm inside of me this morning so at least I know she’s ok.
I think I will probably request a midwife appointment in the mean time just to hopefully put my mind a bit more at rest.
Thank you for your support ladies and I really hope you’re all feeling good! Flowers

AnonymousXXIX · 13/10/2021 14:42

@Elm98 how are you doing now, any further news?

Saw my midwife yesterday and bump was measuring small (about 2 weeks behind) so she referred me for an urgent growth scan today - and baby is measuring big (about 2 weeks ahead)!! Don't know what to make of this...

1ce1cebaby · 13/10/2021 15:01

@AnonymousXXIX I’m in a similar boat to you - or the reverse kinda. Had a scan yesterday and baby was measuring below the 50th centile where it was over 95th on my previous scan so hadn’t grown as expected in the time between. It’s quite a big drop. I have to go back for another scan in 2 weeks to check growth and just keep an eye on movements between now and then. How did they leave it with you? I guess the only good thing is that they were two different methods of measurements with a scan being more accurate but still mad to have such a difference!
Hope you’re keeping well @Elm98 and everyone else

AnonymousXXIX · 13/10/2021 15:20

@1ce1cebaby they didn't seem worried at all. I have another scan in a couple weeks to check placenta and they said they would check growth again then as well, but the chord and everything looked fine and were working well.

I checked my own weight against an online chart and I am about 2 or 3 pounds under for 29 weeks so that prob explains small-ish bump size. All seems fine, just a bit surprised. I guess I am small but baby is big? And that's just how we are?

Elm98 · 13/10/2021 15:43

I had a call late Monday afternoon from the hospital asking if I could come in next Monday to do another scan, they did say not to worry. However your mind just goes to worry I think.
I’m glad the scan is coming up sooner just to hopefully put my mind at ease!

Hope all you ladies are doing ok! Don’t stress too much about growth scans I’ve heard of loads of ladies who’s babies fluctuate on the growth scale and most come out at very healthy weights! Baby might just of had a lazy or very heavy couple of weeks when it comes to growth!

Em39ma · 13/10/2021 16:05

I had an emergency scan on Sunday as measure 36 weeks at 29 weeks.
Baby is measuring 2/3 weeks a head on scan and my polyhydramnios is off the scale. Deepest pool was around 13 cm. Being a Sunday there was know one there to talk to me and just had a weird computer call saying I have now got an appointment for next Wednesday now, guess they need to speak to me about it.

Theawkwardblonde · 15/10/2021 09:18

Hope everyone is doing well. Anyone who had really bad morning sickness had it return in the 3rd trimester? I'm 29 +2 and it's got me floored again. Don't know if it's a side effect of the heartburn I've had solidly for weeks.

Sparklestars86 · 15/10/2021 21:55

I was lucky I guess- constant nausea but was only sick a handful of times in the earlier days and then cleared up into 2nd trimester. Not really had heartburn either (yet..!) Xx

Em39ma · 16/10/2021 07:31

@Theawkwardblonde mine never goes away, but my iron tablets have made it slightly worse.
It could just be the heartburn, worth talking to your doctor and get omoperzole as you may find that’s enough to stop the sickness too.

Elm98 · 20/10/2021 19:29

So we had our appointment on Monday and the consultant scanned me. She was such a lovely woman and she made me feel so much better about things. She thinks baby has no problems and she couldn’t get the measurements as high as the last person who scanned me but has said as precaution I’m being referred for a MRI (just waiting on the appointment coming through as it’s at a more specialist hospital) She just put me at such ease.
She did warn me about Notches on my uterine artery which can put me at higher risk of Pre-eclampsia but she told me to take an aspirin a day and that she will keep an eye on it at further scans but again she isn’t too concerned.
I know it doesn’t put us completely in the clear but it definitely makes us feel so much more comfortable and excited for baby’s arrival.

I’m taking omeprazole for the heartburn and I absolutely swear by it, I felt terrible in the first two trimesters like my throat was on fire and omeprazole has been a life saver!

I’m still feeling pretty comfortable apart from baby seems to be pressing on my bladder so I go for the most pathetic dribble wee and then by the time I’ve stood up again feel like I need to pee but there is nothing there (TMI)
Any ladies leaking really small amounts of urine throughout the day?
this sounds terrible but at first I thought it was just increased discharge in my knickers but I’m becoming increasingly aware it may actually be small amounts of urine Blush Blush

AnonymousXXIX · 20/10/2021 20:19

Ah @Elm98 that's such a relief : ) I hope the MRI goes well.

I have the worst heartburn when I lay on my left side at night. So since we're not meant to sleep on our backs I can now only sleep on my right side - and in turn that's getting really uncomfortable for my back now, because I basically can't change positions... I tried to google it but Internet says that heartburn is meant to be worse on your right and better on your left because of where your stomach is! I don't understand at all.

Elm98 · 20/10/2021 20:26

@AnonymousXXIX oh that sounds dreadful, I can fully sympathise as there was no way I could lay to help it and I was trying every heartburn product out there. I can only swear by the omeprazole.

I’m so rubbish at the not sleeping on my back, I have a pregnancy pillow wrapped all round me and I still wake up in the night pillow gone and on my back and it’s now become a full acrobatic performance to get back into the pillow Grin

flowersatthecastle · 20/10/2021 20:48

Great news @Elm98! Hope your appointment comes through soon.

I know what you mean about going to the toilet thinking you have a full bladder and then... nothing!! I have had some sneezing/laughing related accidents Blush best get on to the pelvic floor exercises I should have been doing for months now Confused

Lindzers83 · 20/10/2021 21:10

I'll 2nd omeprazole and can finally sleep on both sides.
I've also been losing liquid but it doesn't smell like urine. Have to wear a pad every day. Had a scan Monday to see if my placenta had moved but as it stands not enough so have another scan at 36 weeks. They checked my fluids and they are normal so no idea where the Liquid is coming from.

How long do you have to stay in hospital after a c section?

burtle4 · 20/10/2021 22:25

@Elm98, so glad you had a better experience this time around and your mind has been put at rest, hopefully you can now get on with enjoying the rest of your pregnancy!
@AnonymousXXIX I'm exactly the same as you! Heartburn at night gets so much worse when I lie on my left! So I spend half the night trying to sleep propped up and then eventually, around 2am, I manage to slip down the bed and am able to sleep normally. Definitely a symptom I won't miss!

Em39ma · 20/10/2021 22:26

I’ll 3rd the omoperzole been on it since 10 weeks, I can’t do anything without it.
I am having the problem with leaking wee too, but with all my fluid and a big boy in there I think it’s because I alway need a wee, from everything pressing on my bladder.
@Elm98 glad the consultant has put you somewhat at ease.

Room4onemore · 21/10/2021 09:05

Hi ladies is anybody going to be using reusable nappies?

Em39ma · 21/10/2021 13:28

@Room4onemore we do. Have tots bots, use to buy direct but now I get them from welovefrugii..

Sparklestars86 · 21/10/2021 18:09

@Room4onemore I'm definitely intending to try- though probably not straight away. This is my first baby and feel like we need to find our feet on general first.
Interested in any recommendations/endorsements! Xx

Em39ma · 21/10/2021 19:20

I don’t use them straight away normally around 6 weeks plus. Dd was out of nappies by 15 months, so use them when doing really big weeks, but highly recommended the tots bots. They have a number of different types and you can order a trail pack which in 3/4 nappies to try out.

Em39ma · 21/10/2021 19:20

Didn’t use them when doing bigger wees
