I was thinking about it. We have a nappy library near us. www.uknappynetwork.org/find-a-library.html

TinToms · 22/10/2021 07:01

@Elm98 this is just like me, sometimes it takes me half an hour to leave the house because I have the urge to wee and only the tiniest DROP comes out. As soon as I stand up I’m desperate again. I’m changing my underwear multiple times a day as I just can’t feel it. Tiny amounts but enough to make me think wtf! I’ve just got a pelvic floor exercise app to try and remind me to do the squeezes as terrified this is life for ever now…

Sparklestars86 · 22/10/2021 14:39

@Lindzers83 that's so helpful! I've found one near me so will definitely get in touch with them! Xx

AnonymousXXIX · 22/10/2021 18:30

@Room4onemore

Hi ladies is anybody going to be using reusable nappies?
Yes! Hopefully from birth but will get a box of 'eco' nappies as a backup in case that goes out the window for some reason. Currently trying to work out how many and what sort of inserts/boosters I need, and what size, and what material... it's a bit confusing!
Room4onemore · 22/10/2021 21:57

Yes this, I’ve got one tots bots newborn nappy and an all in 2 I think?! But I’ve just ordered 4 close pop ins newborn, but I’ve read that people also recommend using muslinz with a wrap while they are still small so I’m going to get some of them as well

Theawkwardblonde · 23/10/2021 17:39

Totally sympathise with the ladies saying they're struggling laying on their side at night. No matter what I do I seem to wake up completely starfished on my back 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've still got no relief from the heartburn. Midwife said it'll pass but it's getting worse, especially on a night! Even drinking water triggers it!

Em39ma · 23/10/2021 17:51

@Theawkwardblonde water can make it worse, called a water rush.
Have you tried some vanilla ice cream before bed? Can really settle heartburn.
If midwife still not doing a lot try your gp, mine is really good and will say it’s not worth suffering.

burtle4 · 23/10/2021 22:49

@Theawkwardblonde I've found that having some milk helps when it happens, although quite often it's the middle of the night when it strikes and I can't be arsed to go downstairs so I keep a pack of Rennie next to the bed and stay propped up for a while, that normally helps!

Kinsters · 24/10/2021 06:48

@Theawkwardblonde do you have omeprazole? That's the only thing that helps me. I need to take it an hour before I have dinner for it to work properly. I forgot it last night but wasn't too worried as we'd only had instant noodles so I took it an hour after eating...couldn't get to sleep until 2am as whenever I lay down I'd throw up 🤢

Theawkwardblonde · 24/10/2021 07:18

@Em39ma oh I didn't know that about water! It's all I really drink. I think it will be a doctors trip however I don't have an appointment until end of November! Earliest I could get at my local surgery.

@burtle4 I tried milk but it made me sick. I don't drink milk anyways as I hate it but attempted a drink of it as a last ditch attempt 😂 I do agree the propping up at 2am helps it. I've stockpiled rennies in all sorts of places around the house!

@Kinsters no I don't have omeprazole. Im guessing I'd need it prescribed? Can't get in to see a gp until end of November!

Another question for you ladies-what is the purpose of a health visitor home visit? I've received a letter saying I've got mine this week. No idea what it entails but I've been assured it's standard. Google wasn't much help either. I'm a FTM so not much clue on what happens at these visits.

Em39ma · 24/10/2021 07:26

@Theawkwardblonde the health visitor visit is a bit of a waste of time.
They come and talk to you about the things they offer, see if you are ok etc. There a bit useless to be honest, just talk to her then you won’t here anything again.

burtle4 · 24/10/2021 07:43

@Theawkwardblonde I hate milk too soo I use banana nesquik instead 😂 I think the health visitor thing is just a first time mum thing where they're basically secretly checking your living arrangements and talking to you about what they're useful for. To be fair, I found my health visitor really nice and was lovely after baby was born for any help or advise I needed x

Louloulou123 · 24/10/2021 08:14

@Theawkwardblonde I had my health visitor visit this week, it’s just an informal chat they tak about safe sleep and breast feeding and what visits they will do once the baby is born. She didn’t leave the living room which was annoying as I’d cleaned the whole house!
Definitely get some omeprazole it’s been a life saver for me!
Is anyone else suffering with carpal tunnel? Only bothering me at night but im getting fed up with waking up with numb hands now!

SouthwestSis · 24/10/2021 12:02

You can buy omeprazole over the counter, it's not cheap but probably worth buying a couple of weeks worth to tide you over until you can get to the GP.

Room4onemore · 24/10/2021 13:22

I’ve got bottles of gaviscon by my bed lol

Em39ma · 24/10/2021 14:13

I found my health visitor patronising, but I’m a lot more qualified than she is and told her so. She kept speaking to me as if I was 10 and didn’t know a thing. So I asked her had she read what I did for a living, to which she replied why would that make a difference. She look at it and went oh, guess you probably know more than me. I was nanny for 24 years and specialised in newborns and sleeping.

Theawkwardblonde · 24/10/2021 22:20

Thanks for the insight re the health visitor ladies. Tad annoyed about the visit as I've had to re arrange things for this visit (work, appointments etc) but needs must. I'll likely have some questions on the day that can be asked.

Thanks re advice for heartburn. Will look at getting omeprazole over the counter to help as rennies barely touch the sides. Actually propped up in bed typing this as I'm crippled with it again!

Lindzers83 · 26/10/2021 20:15

Has anyone had a planned c section due to low placenta? I have my consultant appointment on the 10th November but wandered when its likely to be scheduled for. Week 39 maybe? X

Em39ma · 27/10/2021 07:13

I’m having planned c section mines booked in for 39 + 1 consultant said that is now standard practice.
Mine is probably being moved forward next week, but that’s because of my polyhydramnios.

AnonymousXXIX · 27/10/2021 10:41

Ehm.. I've never heard of a health visitor?

Sparklestars86 · 27/10/2021 19:45

My health visitor called to book an appointment. Coming out next Thursday. Got nothing set up for the baby- furniture not arrived yet, so hope she's not wanting to see their bedroom or anything! Xx

Lindzers83 · 27/10/2021 20:19

Thanks @Em39ma

My HV was over the phone. I think they become more useful once baby is born. They can help signpost if you have any concerns with development

Room4onemore · 27/10/2021 21:34

How is everyone feeling, baby girl is right under my breast bone and it’s uncomfortable sitting down, off to get a gym ball on Friday to start bouncing on to try and move her a bit

Sparklestars86 · 28/10/2021 13:17

@Room4onemore I have been soo uncomfortable the past few days. Been working mammoth hours (14/15 hours some days- from home in front of a laptop which I know is easier than for others in physical jobs but it's really not been fun!)
Sleep also gone out the window as cannot get comfortable in bed and just spend all night performing very convoluted and clumsy acrobatics to turn over- with absolutely no benefit when I finally get on my other side!
Hopefully over the worst of the work pressure so going to get back into some gentle swimming and fingers crossed that helps me.
Hope your ball does the trick for you! Xx

I haven’t posted here in a while and I hope everyone is getting on well with their pregnancy’s and feeling great. Unfortunately we have had the morning from hell and I just need to vent. Sad

We went for our 28 week growth scan today and the sonographer straight away picked up that something in baby’s brain wasn’t measuring right.

I had to wait on my own for two hours (darn covid) for a foetal specialist to come and scan me.
When he did scan me he said that baby has an enlarged cavum septum pellucidum in the brain, he did say it was only slightly enlarged and not to panic as they will scan me again in a months time however both mine and my partners brain has gone into panic mode. If I’m a months time it is still enlarged I will have to go for an MRI.

Unfortunately we can’t find any more information on the internet of other cases of this or even what can cause it, I’m absolutely out of my mind with worry especially considering we thought all was absolutely fine after the 20 weeks scan. SadSad

Elm98
