I'm still reading here Smile

Everything is a bit hectic at the moment so haven't been posting much - nothing to report on the pregnancy front but my toddler is keeping me busy Confused

Sparklestars86 · 30/07/2021 07:50

@Pineapple87 when I went for my scan the baby was hiding in my pelvis and she told me I'd probably struggle with my hips throughout 😩
A few nights ago I had excruciating pain where you describe- woke me up and took my breath away 2 nights running. My bump seems to have popped since then though so guessing it was just that. This is my first so everything was very much knitted together beforehand- felt like it ripped rather than stretched though! Xx

Pineapple87 · 30/07/2021 09:08

@Sparklestars86, that’s not good it’s such a worry isn’t it, I just feel uncomfortable all the time I’m actually not very big I’ve lost half a stone, my last pregnancy was 14 years ago so maybe it’s like starting a fresh I’m not sure Wednesday can’t come quick enough for my scan so hopefully will get some answers i don’t like calling midwife as she community one was nasty lady time I called and I was very upset, I just worry as I doubt the right thing by not calling, I hope you fell more comfortable soon, this is a whole different pregnancy this time but being 34 could have something to do with it I don’t know 🤷‍♀️,

AnonymousXXIX · 30/07/2021 09:51

I have been reading 'how to give birth like a feminist' before bed, and had a nightmare about it last night. I have never really worried about giving birth, or how 'natural' or 'medical' it is. Maybe it's because it's my first baby but I feel pretty chill about it. But now I had a whole dream about doctors in the hospital not listening to me and lots of horrible stuff happening. Has anyone else been adversely affected by pregnancy literature that's supposed to be empowering?

Kinsters · 30/07/2021 11:05

Anyone with hip pain my only advice is take it really easy and definitely don't do any breast stroke swimming! I had awful pain with my DD from about 12 weeks after I did 20 minutes of breast stroke. I couldnt walk properly and needed so many pillows and blankets to sleep on. It was agony if I rolled onto my back. This pregnancy I've been super careful, no swimming and hardly any walking and so far at 19 weeks it's only a little twinge of pain every now and then.

Had my second Covid vaccine yesterday and today am absolutely floored! I nearly fainted this morning while standing in the kitchen... doing nothing... Hoping a good night's sleep will fix it, we've made it through the day with a fair amount more TV than I'd normally allow the kids to watch and a lot of me snoozing on the sofa!

AnonymousXXIX · 31/07/2021 19:35

@CityGirl182 oh sorry you're feeling bad! DH and myself has zero side-effects, besides a mildly sore arm. Reckon it could just be pregnancy rather than vaccine? Yesterday afternoon I had an accidental TWO hour nap in the middle of the workday : o Going to have to finish some work on Sunday now...

CityGirl182 · 31/07/2021 20:08

@AnonymousXXIX yeah, not sure, it could have been pregnancy related but I haven't felt like that before, even in the worst of the sickness

NightDreaming · 01/08/2021 14:49

Anyone else’s boobs, specifically nipples going berserk??? I’m having to moisturise them all the time. Jump between itchy and painful, often both. Gah. 😵‍💫😖

AnonymousXXIX · 01/08/2021 15:49

@NightDreaming yes itchy here too!

Was it your second dose Pfizer? Apparently the side effects are worse with second dose Pfizer than first. Although having said that my sister suffered really badly after her first Pfizer, she felt awful for a week but not sure how exactly.

I had my first dose of AZ a couple of weeks ago and felt pretty rough - two nights of aches and fever and one day of being ridiculously tired. DH had one night of fever and was a bit tired for a day but had an awful headache for a couple of days which I was very glad to dodge as having a headache is so miserable. I was really worried I was getting one but then it went when DD stopped tantrum-ing 🤣

Hope you're feeling better now!

CityGirl182 · 01/08/2021 20:27

@Kinsters interesting, yes, it was my second dose. But feeling alright today, whatever it was was short lived at least!

SouthwestSis · 02/08/2021 20:11

I'm 2 weeks out from my 2nd pfizer jab and feeling so relieved now that my defence shields are almost up to full power haha! Feel more relaxed going out and about which is nice after being so careful for a long time. Will probably be a bit more careful again once I get to third trimester but it's such a nice feeling knowing I'm as protected as possible,

Sparklestars86 · 02/08/2021 20:46

Im due my second Pfizer on Saturday- was originally later in the month but brought it forward when they reduced the gap to 8 weeks. It seems rife at the moment near me- so many colleagues both in my office but other firms too seem to be coming down with it from separate sources. And worringly it's the healthy active ones who seem to be hardest hit when they do get it! I can't wait to feel like my "defence shields are up to full power" too! 🤣
Bracing myself for the possibility that second dose might bring effects though after comments above- had nothing more than a sore arm with my first dose. 🤞🤞Xx

MushroomQueen · 03/08/2021 23:49

I'm a million years behind. Hope everyone is doing ok. Baby is moving and kicking as I type this at 20 weeks. I had the Pfizer jab and only had a sore arm

Lindzers83 · 04/08/2021 06:02

I'm 22 weeks and still no movement first baby. I also have a low lying placenta so wonder if that's why. Have another scan booked at 32 weeks to see if the placenta has moved. Anyone had the same? X

Sparklestars86 · 04/08/2021 08:10

Successfully had my nearly 9 month old twin neices sleep over whilst my own twin sister was at a wedding. One little stir at just after 4am but that was it. Husband did his first properly dirty rather than just wet nappy and it was he who went to settle them in the early hours- so he now thinks he's conquered it all and ready for full on fatherhood as a result 🤣
My sis is on her own with them (husband passed away a few years ago and they are his miracle IVF legacy) and she does amazingly even being outnumbered by them. So can't really fault husband's logic that we will instead outnumber our singleton baby- but wouldn't go so far as to say it'll be the doddle he's now expecting! xx

burtle4 · 04/08/2021 08:15

@Lindzers83 yes! Just had my scan on Monday and they said that my placenta is low against the back wall but part of it may be attached to the front wall as well so they're worried it may be partially covering the cervix. I have to go back in 3 weeks as they want to get a better view of what's happening and my bladder wasn't full enough to get a clear picture. They've said that if it is the way they think it is I will have to have a c-section but I think in most cases where it isn't attached to front and back like yours, it just moves up and out of the way of the cervix so you can have a normal delivery, but they'll check this at 32 weeks x

Lindzers83 · 05/08/2021 06:11

Thanks @burtle4 let us know how your next scan goes. I'm really hoping to feel some movement soon. I think I've got 2 more weeks before I can start freaking out and call the midwife. Are you meant to feel something inside as well as out? I have neither x

flowersatthecastle · 05/08/2021 06:30

@Sparklestars86 congratulations on the successful parenting trial! Call it pregnancy hormones but reading about your sister's twins made me a bit choked up, how lovely (but I'm sure also incredibly difficult for her) x

burtle4 · 05/08/2021 09:16

@Lindzers83 I only just started feeling proper movements a few days ago at 20 weeks and this is my third. Even now though I'm worrying because I haven't felt him move very much yesterday/this morning but I'm telling myself they're still really little and they can easily get themselves into a position where you can't feel the kicks. Maybe have a word with your midwife anyway and let her reassure you? She might offer to listen for the heartbeat to put your mind at rest x

Sparklestars86 · 06/08/2021 11:53

@flowersatthecastle thanks! (They are super good babies to be fair so just got to keep our fingers crossed that our little one as an equally placid temperament!)
And it still makes me emotional when I think of how special their journey to get here was. They're literally little pieces of their daddy living and breathing again which is just amazing. And they're going to go grow up knowing all about him and how proud of them he will be- we will all make sure of that! 🥰🥰 Xx

Theawkwardblonde · 07/08/2021 10:27

Had my twenty week scan yesterday. Thankfully all okay, but I have an anterior placenta. Luckily it's high not low.
Don't think the midwives were impressed with me 😂 the baby faced us during the scan so we saw a mouth and eyes. Midwives were all ooohing and ahhing. I thought it was the creepiest thing ever 😳🤣

Sparklestars86 · 07/08/2021 19:28

@Theawkwardblonde I just "aahed" along with ours when she was pointing things out.
"Oh, look that's a beautiful view of its cute lips". Even though it was a really clear scan in general I couldn't orient myself to what we were supposed to be looking at apart from the obvious like hands and feet so couldn't make out half of what she was showing me. Obvs didn't want to be judged as a bad parent already so went along with it! Xx

Em39ma · 11/08/2021 06:57

Scan day for me. Roll on 12, why do we still get nervous for them
