@em39ma good luck! I think I hold my breath from getting onto the bed to the first wriggles on the screen! It's my first pregnancy and I was warned by my sister not to panic if they were silent for ages as they did their measuring etc but thankfully mine was lovely and explained everything she was looking for as she went along and confirmed that each measurement was what what she wanted and why.
Hope you've got something to keep you occupied til 12 (even work if all else fails!) Xx

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2021 09:38

Scan at 12 here too @Em39ma! Baby is moving lots now which is so comforting : ) but still v nervous.

Pineapple87 · 11/08/2021 10:11

Good luck 🤞 for your scans today ❤️

Cuddles21 · 11/08/2021 13:49

Hi all 😊
I haven't been on here in AGES but yesterday we has our 20 week scan even though I'm 21.5 weeks and we are expecting a little boy 💙 so excited!!!!
I see alot of you guys have had your covid vaccines but do you mind me asking, we're you advised or did you decide to go for it yourself? I'm so worried as to possible effect on the baby 😣

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2021 14:21

All good on the scan! Finished in 10 mins as baby was positioned perfectly : o I had packed lunch and a book and everything fully anticipating to spend the afternoon at the hospital lol.

@cuddles21 I decided by myself. I did ask my GP, midwife, and vaccination centre for their advice however (back in April), and none of them specifically recommended against it. Their tone was kind of cautiously encouraging, i.e. they clearly didn't want to tell me what to do but especially my nurse and midwife seemed very relieved when I went ahead and got them.

There's no scientific evidence for negative effects on the baby : ) Vaccines work according to a totally different science than baby biology. If anything, I am hoping for positive effects (e.g. why we also take the whooping cough vaccine, to protect baby!) I did for good measure sign up to the Cambridge study (vac4covid) that tracks women who are pregnant at the moment however, so I can contribute to the historical data for the next however many years!

Em39ma · 11/08/2021 14:30

Scan all good. Very wriggly fast moving baby. Still a boy, always worth checking. Measuring about a week plus ahead at the moment. Booked me in for my next scan at 32 weeks. Old mummy extra scans for us.
@Cuddles21 I’ve chosen to have my vaccine now we are pass the everything developing stage. Still waiting to found out when I can have it, my gp has messaged the allergy unit and trying to arrange for me to have it.

Sparklestars86 · 11/08/2021 18:33

Pleased to hear all the good news about scans!
@cuddles21 I decided myself after reading the RCOG guidance and any other official stuff I could find. Was reassured on similar reasons as Anonymous says about the science of how the vaccine actually works etc.
@AnonymousXXIX is signing up for that study something I would have had to do at the time or can they retrospectively include you do you know? I'd be interested in adding my data to the pot as well! Xx

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2021 19:52

@Sparklestars86 you can sign up any time whilst pregnant! I just signed up this week.

I am trying to find the link to the exact news article I read about it, that linked me to the survey. I'll post it here later if I can find it again.

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2021 20:25

Found the link to the study! May have mixed it up with another one before.

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2021 20:27

Vac4covid is about vaccinations and records if you're pregnant & how that's going. The other one is about the impact of living during a pandemic whilst pregnant/having a small child.

Sparklestars86 · 11/08/2021 21:28

@AnonymousXXIX thank you! I'll look into them both. Xx

Lindzers83 · 12/08/2021 06:09

I've got my 2nd dose next Friday. I've had covid so it wasn't about protecting me as I know I've had worse colds. but I read that the baby will have antibodies and a level of protection.

AnonymousXXIX · 20/08/2021 22:24

I don't mean to be that pregnant hypochondriac, but... a bug just bit me 3 times going up my arm (I swept it off earlier today but just realised it was still there when I went to bed!!). It was sort of buried in there and has left 3 red spots (from bleeding/a reaction, not itchiness). If I didn't know that ticks were bigger & only bite once. .. I'd say it was a tick. Stupidly got rid of it before identifying more closely. Anyone have any idea wtf it was & whether I should worry? Will obv monitor & call GP if anything changes the next few days... but until then all I can do is sit around and worry. .

Kinsters · 21/08/2021 03:53

I wouldn't worry too much, there's nothing that can bite you and make you ill in the UK except ticks carrying Lyme disease I don't think. You could go see a pharmacist, they might be quite familiar with stings/bites.

Sparklestars86 · 21/08/2021 06:47

I did some 2am reading on it as it (like so many things pregnancy throws at us) hadn't even occurred to me as something to worry about or check up on. From what I could see only need to be concerned if you have an allergic reaction (which presumably would have happened straight away) or if it gets infected.
Hope they're not too itchy or annoying in the meantime! Xx

Lindzers83 · 21/08/2021 07:19

We finally have movement at 24 weeks! Can relax now for a bit x

Sparklestars86 · 21/08/2021 09:13

@Lindzers83 excellent! Very reassuring. 🥰 My little monkey was hitting me right in a ticklish bit just inside my hip bone loads the other evening. Making me jump and squirm everytime!
I really feel like I'm bonding more since I can feel it too 💞Xx

AnonymousXXIX · 21/08/2021 09:55

Thanks ladies :) That helps!

Pineapple87 · 21/08/2021 10:24

@Lindzers83 brilliant news!
I’ve been feeling movement for a few weeks now the weird ones are where they vibrate in ya lady parts 🤣
I think my boy like to lie transverse which have been extremely uncomfortable but very much worth it.
How is everyone’s pregnancy going? XX

Lindzers83 · 21/08/2021 14:37

Yeah going well. Still really tired. Have midwife next week so looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again x

Pineapple87 · 21/08/2021 14:59

Aww that’s exciting, can’t wait for my 25 week appointment to hear mine I’m yet to hear it, although I did borrow a machine not sure if it was my heart or baby’s.

BrodieKD · 21/08/2021 19:28

Pregnancy is going well for me so far. Just choked with the cold atm which feels so unfair. I can't believe how quickly pregnancy is going.

We've started to get the nursery decorated and we've ordered the pram too. Feels like it's all starting to get quite real.

How is everyone else getting on?

Scarletpig1 · 21/08/2021 19:55

Agree seems like the pregnancy is going so fast . Struggling with pram ideas. Buggyboard doesn't seem to fit in my single pram so looks like it needs to be a double buggy. But they mostly seem to be forward facing. The ones that have a parent facing pram are really expensive.

OP posts:
Sparklestars86 · 22/08/2021 07:56

Definitely feeling more real! We ordered pram 2 weekends ago and just ordered baby furniture yesterday. Will probably just feel pleased with myself about that for a while now and have another blast at decorating/buying smaller things in a month or two.
I've not heard the heartbeat yet at all- cannot wait for my appt but it's not until week after next. Xx

Lindzers83 · 22/08/2021 08:46

No way did you not get to hear it at your 16 week appointment? I found heating the heartbeat more emotional than the scan.

We're doing terribly on the nursery front but have bought a pram and car seat
