@TreeRoad I was fine picking dd as long as you don’t over stretch. I really didn’t want one either, but after 7 days of them trying to induce me I had, had enough. It also turns out my uterus faces backwards, there was no way she could come out that way.
I stayed with my mum after and adjusted things to help me, like I bathed the baby on a table in the lounge so I could get to her more easily. I was walking 20 minutes a day after 4 days and up to 40 minutes after 10.
I do have a very good pain threshold, which they say may be why I was so good after.

Elm98 · 09/06/2021 21:39

@TreeRoad we haven’t even had our 12 week scan but are definitely going to be booking in for a early gender scan, I think we just love seeing scans but also feel we can start buying when we know the sex.

Isn’t it strange how everyone feels so differently about birthing? I’m absolutely terrified by the thought of a C-Section as I just think about pain and recovery time. Where as vaginal birth I’m absolutely at ease with (well until forceps are mentioned Grin ) but everyone has their preference go with what makes you comfortable!

AnonymousXXIX · 09/06/2021 21:46

Same here @Elm98! I am not really allowing myself to think about birth yet as I'm only 10.5 weeks, but I much prefer the thought of vaginal over c-section. The other thing that really scares me is epidurals. Can you tell I have been lucky enough to never spend much time in hospitals? Haha. That said, I was a forceps delivery myself and don't envy mum going through that. I am afraid to ask for the detailed story...

Elm98 · 09/06/2021 22:07

@AnonymousXXIX I try not to think too much about birth yet with only being 11+1; sounds silly but feel like I’m jinxing something.

My partner was a forceps delivery and they left him with a scar under his eye where something went wrong, I’ve heard the story enough times to know the idea of forceps makes me want to curl up Grin

Hopesandsunshines · 10/06/2021 05:29

Hi ladies, thank you for your replies, I feel very emotional about it, I am just very scared about if my midwife will judge me, I feel in the end it is not really my choice but the hospital. C section or not I hope by the baby due date the restrictions on traveling have eased as my mom lives abroad and currently our country is red listed. I think my husband will take 1 week of, and I think my mother in law would help me as much as they can but this is my first baby too and have no idea about what needs will I have and how to cope without my mum. I hope you are all having nice weeks x

Horehound · 10/06/2021 07:46

,@Hopesandsunshines if you are in UK your husband should get 2 weeks paternity at least. Also look into shared paternity leave

Hopesandsunshines · 10/06/2021 08:03

Yes thank you, Its just taking the paternity pay we will feel a big impact in our finances that month, taking holiday sounds like the best option since I'm not going to be working for a year only on maternity pay

Moo37 · 10/06/2021 08:38

I never planned anything for my last two. They were both born in France, where I only understood little. So I stayed blissfully ignorant to it all and just went with the flow. I will be doing the same this time. Midwife already asked me if I had a plan, said no, will just be going with the flow 🤣

Kinsters · 10/06/2021 10:24

People love to say that first labours are hard and take ages but it's not necessarily true. My first was only about five hours and that was back-to-back and with an epidural.. I wouldn't say it was fun but I'm not nervous about doing it again.

Mayneedanextraroom · 10/06/2021 10:40

Sorry it’s a bit late but congrats to those who’ve had scans past couple of days :)

I had a call from a screening midwife yesterday, baby has come back high risk for downs. Went in for the NIPT test which should be back in a week, feeling terrified and all I dreamt about last night was being subjected to test after test 😔 this is going to be a long week…

TakeYourFinalPosition · 10/06/2021 11:16

@Mayneedanextraroom Oh love, I'm sorry to hear that. Best of luck for the NIPT - I hope it's back as soon as possible, and it's got good news.

Pineapple87 · 10/06/2021 11:56

I’m so sorry to hear that Xx

Pineapple87 · 10/06/2021 11:57

My daughter was back to back first child, I had G&A but the midwife didn’t know she was bk to bk.

AnonymousXXIX · 10/06/2021 14:37

Good luck @Mayneedanextraroom !!

Mayneedanextraroom · 10/06/2021 15:39

Thank you all xx

Sparklestars86 · 10/06/2021 17:41

@Mayneedanextraroom will be thinking of you. Hope you get the results back quickly and that they're reassuring. Xx

Lillygolightly · 10/06/2021 19:34

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry but I need to have a freak out….I have my scan tomorrow and just now had some pink on wiping. I’ve had spotting on and off this whole pregnancy and it’s so so stressful. I was already anxious and worried about tomorrow, and now I’m terrified.

I’ve had 3 scans so far and each time both babies have been in there and doing well (last one was 2 weeks ago at 10+2), somehow I feel like I can’t be lucky enough for that to be the case again tomorrow.

I’m so so scared, after the loss of my little boy in February I can’t take losing these babies too. 😢

gizmo167 · 10/06/2021 20:02

@1ce1cebaby & @HPmagic I'm in NI too & have my scan appointment tomorrow, funny all done so different now!

@Lillygolightly thinking of u hun & I'm sure its nothing to be worried about, not too long to wait until tomorrow xx

Sparklestars86 · 11/06/2021 06:57

@Lillygolightly got everything crossed for you today. I have a friend carrying twins and she has had both spotting and bleeds but all was fine.
Fingers crossed you get to see both bobbing about happily today. Hope it's this morning at least so you're not waiting around too long. 💐💞 Xx
.

Lillygolightly · 11/06/2021 13:55

Hi everyone,

So I’ve had my scan and both babies were wriggling around in there and the sonographer had some trouble getting all the measurements she needed as one twin kept hiding behind the other. They are measuring 12+3 & 12+4 which puts my due date now at 20/12/21. Now just to wait on the results of the screening.

I am so relieved!!!

Lindzers83 · 11/06/2021 14:56

@Lillygolightly amazing news. 🤞🏻for the screening results

burtle4 · 11/06/2021 15:02

That's amazing news @Lillygolightly you must be so relieved! I was going to say that in my previous pregnancy my spotting started up again the day before the scan and it completely freaked me out. Thankfully everything turned out to be fine and the spotting completely stopped after that so hopefully it will be the same for you!

@Mayneedanextraroom I'm sorry to hear about your screening results, keeping everything crossed for you that it all works out ok xx

Pompom2367 · 11/06/2021 15:12

Hi can I join was to scared too before now but just had my 12 week scan and finally feel like I can breathe my due date is the 18th December
