My midwife said they weren't allowed to advise us to have it or not to have it. We need to decide ourselves. But she said something like remember in the third trimester the baby is already pushing up in your lungs and advised me to read the rcog info sheet. I've decided to get mine and booked in for 13+6, the day after my scan

@tuxedocat my 2nd was too small at 12 weeks and I went back I was 14 weeks and it was all fine with measurements

Elm98 · 04/06/2021 21:05

@Scarletpig1 I’m really surprised that MW aren’t supposed to advise, mine was really gearing me up towards having it at my booking appointment before I’d told her I’d had both doses.

I work in really close proximity to people and lots of likelihood for air bourne particles so still wearing full PPE for most of my job but just felt more comfortable having it knowing I’m in a high risk job. I do get why those who aren’t in the same position are apprehensive; we would do anything to protect the little things growing in us.

When is your scan? Are you getting excited to have it?

Scarletpig1 · 04/06/2021 21:28

@elm98 scan is 18th June. Yes I'm excited as I never had an early scan so it will be my first look. Also a bit nervous as didn't realise how common MMCs are until I came into Mumsnet. But mostly excited 🤞

@Scarletpig1 snap! I’ve got my 12 week on the 18th too, I’ve already had an early scan at 8 weeks and it was the best experience just to reassure myself.

It’s my first pregnancy and I’m also terrified of MMC I didn’t even realise it was something that happened until pregnant. I’m keeping everything crossed for all of us on this thread. Flowers

Scarletpig1 · 05/06/2021 03:02

Oh no I'm getting mixed up. Scan is the 17th, covid jab is the 18th

Em39ma · 05/06/2021 06:30

There’s a few of us having scans on the 18th, mines that day too.
We are just setting off on holiday. Wish me luck think traffic will be hell.

MushroomQueen · 06/06/2021 02:02

Scan on 15th. I'm trying not to think the worst- I did same for both my boys and all was well it's just a feeling I can't shake

AnonymousXXIX · 06/06/2021 10:15

Nausea is improving but bloating is getting worse. Does anyone else have the worst post-dinner bloat? I always had this pre-pregnancy, but this week it's been properly painful a few times and stops me from sleeping. I eat really healthy so highly doubt I can make any dietary changes. Last night all I had for dinner was a salad, and it still happened!

chloed121 · 06/06/2021 13:14

Is there still a Facebook page ? The link won't work for me 🤔 x

burtle4 · 06/06/2021 13:24

My bloating seems to have eased off the last few days - it was awful, like I was 5 months pregnant already by midday! I'm now struggling with exhaustion, it really seems to have hit hard today but at 11+4 I thought things were supposed to be getting easier 😂

Sparklestars86 · 06/06/2021 14:18

@chloed121 I think it was closed to new people as it got too large. If anyone knows how to set up another one I'd be interested in joining- had been waiting until after my 12 week scan etc. Xx

SadieSue29 · 06/06/2021 14:38

Hi

I'm new to the thread, due 8th December :) it's my third.

No symptoms other than extreme tiredness. Would love to join a Facebook group if there is one.

flowersatthecastle · 06/06/2021 14:41

@chloed121 @Sparklestars86 @SadieSue29 There is a Facebook group associated with another December babies thread on here. It was a smaller thread so not a massive group. It's private so you can't search Facebook for it - if you private message @Rebsy1991 on here she can add you Smile

On great, thanks so much. I know I'm going to find it hard to keep up on here :)

chloed121 · 06/06/2021 15:54

Thank you @flowersatthecastle ! I have messaged her x

Kinsters · 06/06/2021 16:40

Yes if anyone wants to join just message me or Rebsy1991 and we can add you in. Just send FB name and what your profile picture is so we can find you x

Shazza86 · 06/06/2021 20:20

Hi all! Welcome newbies too 🙂

I've got my second covid vaccine tomorrow, had my first before I got pregnant so have been waiting until after the 12 week mark. Its the Oxfird one, hope I'm not ill again this time. Week 14 for me today, I feel like I'm getting my energy levels back again which is amazing.
I got my screening results back last week and they came back as low risk which was a reassuring.
I've also been referred to an obstetrician (I've had 2 hips operations, and I'm also at a higher risk of having pre eclampsia). That appointment is on the 22nd June, not really sure what will happen. Has anyone else seen one or being referred? Going to start the asprin tomorrow to help lower the risk of pre eclampsia and I think I have to take that the whole way through the pregnancy now, daily.
Hope you're all doing well 😊

@Kinsters will try and work out now how to send you a message to be added to the Facebook group 😀

Kinsters · 07/06/2021 08:06

Ok I think I added everyone who messaged me except one of you I couldn't add as friend so I sent you a message.

Got my 12 week scan tomorrow morning. After two previous MMCs I'm a bit nervous but so far there's nothing to suggest anything is wrong so trying to stay positive.

AnonymousXXIX · 07/06/2021 08:16

Welcome @SadieSue29 : )

Question of the day: has anyone checked if their moisturiser/shower gel/shampoo etc. are pregnancy-safe? It only occurred to me today.

Horehound · 07/06/2021 08:49

@AnonymousXXIX nope it wouldn't never occur to me. Dunno what would be dangerous if it's just on skin for a minute then washed away?? Never heard of it being a thing!

AnonymousXXIX · 07/06/2021 08:58

The back of my moisturiser says something along the lines of 'check with your gp if safe to use when under 18 or pregnant'. I think it may have something to do with certain sulphites in certain products, but I am not sure. Also I know there's certain multivitamins you're not meant to take, if they contain vitamin A, and I guess some moisturisers could contain extra vitamin A for some sort of skincare purpose? All depends on quantities I guess anyway.

Scarletpig1 · 07/06/2021 09:28

I heard you can't use retinol and some things like that so I stopped using skin peels etc but didn't check shampoos etc. I don't use fancy shampoo s or shower gels so assume they are fine.

OP posts:
Horehound · 07/06/2021 09:33

I can understand the vitamin A ones although I'm skeptical to just how much you'd be absorbing...I think they have to just say it to avoid some kind of law suit lol. Imagine how much a dab of cream weighs...not even a gram and then that's not all vitamins so it would be absolutely minute what absolutely gets absorbed.

Id not worry too much about that

Pineapple87 · 07/06/2021 10:34

Good luck @Kinsters also can I be added pleaseeee X
