Hi all!

Just got my BFP! Approximately 3 weeks and 6 days. Due date calculator has put me to give birth around 8th January. Feeling so nervous, have had two MCs and then thankfully a much loved DC. Symptoms currently are extremely sore boobs, mild cramping, and upper hip / thigh pain on my right leg! Would love to chat to others who've just found out and want somewhere to refer back to!

@bages1977 I'd be similar. I'm concerned it is a bit early (I could be just 7 weeks 2 days based on ovulation rather than 7 weeks 4 days based on period) but they don't have anything I can do the next week, and we are probably going away the next weekend to see my in laws, and I was thinking it'd be good to have had to scan to tell them about it. Will keep an eye on the appointments...

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 11:46

@Missingcoffee22 yeah it's a similar situation for me as I'm quite busy after that weekend. My 12 week scan is also on 22nd June so it will be about 4 weeks before that.

Most say that they can hear a heartbeat at 6 weeks so hopefully just hearing that will put my mind at ease of nothing else!

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 11:50

@bages1977 yes the heartbeat does feel like the most important thing...
Amazing you've had your 12 week scan booked already! Whereabouts are you based? So efficient!

I'm going to annoy them for my 12 week scan too as I'm away from the 25th June to the 2nd July oops

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 11:56

@Missingcoffee22 well it's weird because I called the GP to say I was pregnant and they said I needed to call the local midwife. Before I had even called the midwife I had 2 emails with letters attached detailing my 12 week scan date and a telephone appointment on 04 July. I've still not even had a cal back from the midwife to confirm my booking appointment.

Dunno how they have managed to get me a scan appointment because I've not had chance to tell GP or midwife how many weeks I think I am 🤔

I'm in Sheffield and they do seem to be quite efficient. I did have a miscarriage not long ago though so maybe that's why they booked me in quick. Although there's still no way of them knowing how far on I am etc

Trixabelle84 · 05/05/2021 11:59

Can I join please? Got my BFP this morningGrin . Absolutely terrified something is going to go wrong, been feeling nauseous but I think that may be anxiety. First time pregnancy, I'm 36 so no spring chicken Grin

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 12:00

@bages1977 oh wow! That's all so fast. Timings seem good for your dates though so hopefully that's alright!

I referred online a week ago and got a confirmation with info the next day, saying I'd hear from a midwife within 10 days to arrange my initial appointment. Although the attachment says I'll get letters with appointments. So we will see what happens! Different trust to last time so the process does seem to be quite different.

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 12:05

@Missingcoffee22 it's strange how different all of the trusts are in their process. I think I'll be a while waiting for the booking appointment details now. Think I just had a really efficient person working on the scan bookings that day! 😂

Hope you hear something soon! Feels a bit like you're in limbo with no dates doesn't it.

Also, has anyone told any family or friends? I have told my partner obviously but I moved in to my moms for a couple of weeks to help her out with something and she noticed I haven't had a period so she just flat out asked me 😂 So i ended up telling her but trying to hold off telling anyone else until at least 12 weeks

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 12:07

@bages1977 I've told some of my friends from my DD mumsnet group. I am planning to tell my parents because I'm struggling to talk to my mum without telling her what's going on! Unsure about in laws and other family. Last time we told them early but was very different circumstances. I feel like I'll tell them if we see them (currently haven't seen my in laws since last October). That's why I'd quite like to have had the early scan!

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 12:19

@Missingcoffee22 yeah that's understandable. I told my friends before my mc as we had lots of drinking events and I obviously wouldn't be allowed to drink. But they are aware that I have not been drinking since so I don't feel pressure on telling them now.

I think I'll take the approach of if people ask me I will confirm it but maybe keep it to myself if not for now

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 12:21

@bages1977 that's totally fair. Last time I managed to keep it from a lot of people for ages. I wasn't showing enough to really notice at work until 6 months. This time I'm sure I'll be showing much earlier but currently not seeing many people!

lovelylittlesunflower · 05/05/2021 12:29

Hi Everyone, I got my BFP a few weeks ago, I'm due 7th of Jan, and I'm 5 weeks 5days.
It's so weird as I had no symptoms really....We've been trying for a while and I've been doing the whole tww but this time I just got fed up so stopped symptom spotting. Anyway I got super anxious, panic attacks, doc put me on meds and then it occurred to me to do a test and it was positive.

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 12:37

@lovelylittlesunflower congratulations on the BFP! That's good that you're not suffering any symptoms and you can enjoy your good news ☺️

periwinkle86 · 05/05/2021 12:48

I’ve told my immediate line manager at work, as long term arrangements were being made for when I will hopefully be on maternity leave, so she needed to know. We’re waiting to tell our families when we see them face to face - this weekend for my family and in a couple of weeks for DPs. Other than that I’m hoping we will hold out until 12 weeks, though how I’m going to see some of my closest friends in that time and not say anything I’m not sure!

We’ve got an early scan booked at 8 weeks so may crack and tell a few really close friends at that point if all is well.

Benji17 · 05/05/2021 13:22

@bages1977 I have just told my closest friend because I was giving her weekly updates on the ttc journey so she definitely would have been suspicious if I suddenly stopped. Plus I needed to offload my excitement onto someone!! Other than that only my partner.

I don't fancy telling work any time soon but probably will around the 8/12 week mark. They were a bit funny about the fact I didn't tell them until 14 weeks with DS. What time do you guys plan on telling work?

I haven't yet booked an appt with my doc as I literally changed surgery last week and I'm waiting for them to call to tell me in registered!! My typical great timing 😅

willithappen · 05/05/2021 13:25

Sometimes I don't understand how the dating goes lol. I'm currently 4+6 and know for sure my dates due to IVF and my due date is 6th Jan?

I wanted to tell people soon but I'm not going to tell my mum until I have had that 7 week scan so I can see how things are as don't want to get her excited and then something go wrong

RHODXB · 05/05/2021 13:26

Just had apt. Doc did my scan and could see gestational sac and egg sac so she said that looks good. Booked in to check for heartbeat in 2weeks! She said it's early days but so far so good 🙌

willithappen · 05/05/2021 13:27

Fab news @RHODXB how far along are you?

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 13:31

@Benji17 what do you do - as in do they need to know for a particular reason?

Last time I told my manager at 15 weeks or so and our head of department after that. Intending to tell my boss sometime after my scan. Because I'm the only person who does my job now, I want to give him a lot of notice so we can manage the process. But that's personal preference. Unless safety reasons, you shouldn't feel pressure to tell before you're ready (up until the official requirements).

RHODXB · 05/05/2021 13:37

@willithappen I think I am 5 weeks 1 day according to my lmp and she said that looks about right xx

bages1977 · 05/05/2021 13:38

I think I'll tell manager later on maybe 15 weeks as there is no reason for them to know atm.

I think I'll leave it just my partner and mom knowing atm but I've not seen my friends since I found out. Maybe I'll just blurt it out when I see them 😂

Benji17 · 05/05/2021 13:48

@Missingcoffee22 I'm a building surveyor, mostly office based and work in a team of 4 so not a huge rush to find a mat leave replacement. Glad 14 weeks doesn't seem too long.

I'm only 3+4 at the moment, or so my ovulation prediction would say, so I have a good while to go.

I didn't know there was a scan before 12 weeks (I only found out I was pregnant with DS at 10 weeks 😬 so I guess I missed that one last time) is that a thing the NHS does or is that something/somewhere else?

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 13:52

@Benji17 early scans are just something people get privately for reassurance, not essential. I didn't last time!

willithappen · 05/05/2021 13:54

If you have IVF also you will get an early scan at 7 weeks before they 'graduate' you from the ivf clinic :)
So mine is an NHS IVF 7 week scan

Missingcoffee22 · 05/05/2021 13:56

Oh yes sorry I was just talking about non fertility treatment pregnancies, apologies @willithappen!

RHODXB · 05/05/2021 14:01

@Benji17 don't worry at all it's not normal to scan before 12 weeks in Uk. I am in UAE and it's normal here to scan at each appointment. She said she will see me for a scan in 2 weeks (so around 7eeks) and then every 4 weeks after that.
