@Missreginafalange good luck tomorrow, it's all so exciting! 🥰

@HappyVibesxo I'm hoping I will be okay in that case, I am fairly careful with what I eat I've just put on a fair bit of timber since my DD.
I know you have right to refuse induction and I've got it all written in my notes that my wish is for homebirth so hopefully that can still go ahead. My DD was 8lb 6oz so not exactly huge and I was on a MLU, I had her vaginally with one toot of G&A and a lot of mooing! 😆

MeltingSnowflake · 31/03/2021 11:00

Oh all those scan pics are amazing!!! Congrats everyone 🥰 I know this sounds obvious, but I can't believe the change in the little beans from the early scans to the 12 week ones!

Has anyone else's nausea just disappeared? I'm 10 weeks now, but for the last week I've hardly felt sick at all and my appetite seems to be returning to vaguely normal levels, which is great in one way, but a bit worrying too Confused I still get tired and have bloating, indigestion, etc. What do we think?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 11:11

@MeltingSnowflake thank you! 🥰
I wouldn't panic too much about the sickness subsiding, you lucky thing lol!! I'm 12+5 now and my sickness is slowly subiding but everyday is up and down tbh so I'm not getting my hopes up lol.

@Missreginafalange good luck with your scan today, please update us! 💖

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 31/03/2021 11:26

Congratulations @HappyVibesxo @MyGrassIsBrowner on your scans !! Such cleat pics ! Must feel so much more real now💖!! Am also wishing for a home birth this time but DH is still not a fan I really wanted one last time 😢 but hubby was a nervous wrecked with the idea so had my DD in hospital, still had the most amazing hypnobirth so that was the main thing I guess, I managed to have her without pain relief after a really horrible induction experience with first DC so I just think having the baby at home would make more sense for me 🤔 but honestly can't see me be able to talk him round 😂😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 11:37

@sargeantsaltnpepper89 Aww thank you! 🥰
I think I've finally mananged to convince my DH to have a homebirth, he assumed you 'HAVE' to have a birthing pool I said no you divvy you can have a dry landing birth 😆
I'm petrified of needing induction as you never seem to come across positive induction stories and I'm absolutely against the use of forceps which I have made quite clear to the midwife. I hope you manage to persuade your DH into having a homebirth!! 🙈

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 31/03/2021 11:45

Whats your secret!!😅😂😂 I'm going to keep at him but not sure he'll be persuaded unfortunately 😅 I was all for a water birth but have rapid deliveries 🙃and the stupid midwife I had the last time wouldn't listen to the fact I knew DD would be born soon and insisted we had plenty of time as was far too calm and all that nonsense and left it until she was like "ohh sorry this wee babys coming just now" was like "ya think😒"🤣🤣 still had a nice experience but must admit everything I seen her on the ward I felt a bit bitter that she robbed me of the pool😂😂

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 31/03/2021 11:45

Everytime* silly phone 🙈

HappyVibesxo · 31/03/2021 12:15

Also having discussions about where to give birth. DS - 48 hours, epidural, episiotomy, ventouse. Not great. Took weeks to recover from the episiotomy. DD - 8 hours, hypnobirth, MLU, just gas and air.
DC3 - Have been offered birth centre really close to home but no labour ward there or docs so would need to be ambulanced to nearest labour ward (30 mins on blue lights) if needed any intervention. But! Loads of room, lots of MWs, own room you can stay in for as long as you like! No nasty post natal wards to deal with!

Missreginafalange · 31/03/2021 12:17

Scan done, all goodGrin had to go out and come back in 30 mins later as baby wasn't cooperating first of all. Am 12 +5 so only 2 days behind, due date 8 October

Hope everyone else's scans go well today x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 12:29

@sargeantsaltnpepper89 I'll be perfectly honest he doesn't have a bloody say 😆 he's too scared to say otherwise.. no one messes with a pregnant woman 🤣 you need to set him straight!!! Lol.
I have 4 hour labour with my DD.. I'm guessing next one will be quicker although I also know it could be vastly different. I had 2nd degree internal tear and labia tear and I think I've got mild rectocele now I was pushing for England and not really listening to my body. It took me MONTHS to fully feel normal again and not wince everytime I sat down.
@HappyVibesxo MLU sounds like a lovely option, they are pretty amazing especially the fact that you get your own room. Ours was at the Hull MLU and my god it was like a boutique hotel.. I'll upload a pic of our room shortly!

@Missreginafalange ooooh that little baba!!! 😍 I have the same due date as you 💖

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 12:33

This was our room!

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 31/03/2021 12:39

Congratulations @Missreginafalange lovely scan pic🥰 💖 I still have another 2 weeks for my 12 week scan although I did have an earlier scan at 9 weeks so have already seen bubs but still can't wait 🙈😂.
@MyGrassIsBrowner my last delivery was just over an hour by a few minutes so he may not have a choice 😂😂 I think the big thing that's worrying DH is if anything was to happen and us not be at the hospital, we live quite close to our nearest maternity unit and hospital but our DD was rather poorly when born and need to be in hdu for the first week of her life so I can totally get where he's coming from, on the other hand with covid etc id rather be at home 🙈 am going to speak with my midwife when I get the chance and see if she has any thoughts as with how quickly I labour id be so worried about having this baby at the side of the road 😳🤣.

sargeantsaltnpepper89 · 31/03/2021 12:41

Wow thats gorgeous 😍, so I'm i right in saying you don't automatically get your own room?.
Where i live you always get your own room on the labour ward then transferred to the main ward after and your not rushed either unless there's a huge demand for the rooms which I've not came across as yet.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 13:20

@sargeantsaltnpepper89 holy moly that is quick!!! 🙈 I'd deffo speak to the midwife if I was you though. I think if your labour is that quick you might have no choice but to birth at home, lol! So sorry you had a rough time of it previously.
Well on a MLU I'd assume you'd get your own room from the off. With ours the MLU was only 3 private rooms but luckily when I went in one room was available and we stayed in it until we were discharged. The labour ward was next door I assume when you're at the pushing stage you then go into the delivery suite then back onto the ward when you've delivered. I've locations since having DD and the labour ward at my local hospital is sooooo run down. There is only 1 birthing pool as well so it's pot luck if you can use it 🙄

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 13:23

Meant to say I've changed locations.. bloody typing too fast lol.

whitershadeofpale · 31/03/2021 14:16

@MeltingSnowflake I’ve been feeling the same but then was sick this morning, it was odd as I hadn’t felt particularly nauseous.

I’m 10+2 but feel like I’m really far behind you all! My scan isn’t until 22nd April and I’ll be 13+4.

Jessica86Shropshire · 31/03/2021 14:57

Congratulations to everyone for their beautiful scan pictures!

I think there's quite a few of us at or nearing our official NHS 12 week scans and I wondered what you were all doing about telling friends and family.

Having looked into the 20 Anomaly week scan it seems there's so many issues they can't and don't pick up until then so I'm thinking I'll tell family after my official 12 week next week but not everyone else until we get the okay at 20 weeks. What is everyone else doing? Am I being overly anxious?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 14:58

@whitershadeofpale you're not that far behined us hun, you might end up giving birth before all of us anyway haha!! 🤣

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 15:12

@Jessica86Shropshire is this your first lovely? It's always a daunting experience and it doesn't get any easier or less worrying with subsequent births. My motto is what will be will be. I've announced it on Facebook to friends and family now. They do say at 12 weeks chance of miscarraige is greatly reduced. X

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 15:13

This is how me and DH announced it on FB this time 🙈

milkyway91 · 31/03/2021 15:25

@MeltingSnowflake I'm exactly the same. 10 weeks +3 (I think!?) and feeling a lot less sick. So you're not alone there! Got back ache on my left side which is a new thing- probs slept funny...

The scans are all beautiful. Such a good looking bunch of babies!

I'm totally overwhelmed with birthing plans etc... How did you all know what you wanted? Or does it just come from research etc?
@Jessica86Shropshire I've told my parents, best friend and boss... Will tell everyone else after 12 week scan hopefully! My husband didn't want to tell his parents until the 12 week scan so we are waiting for that.

Jl2020 · 31/03/2021 15:34

Congratulations on the scan @Missreginafalange glad it all went ok 💕

All the talk about births make me nervous haha the reason I never got pregnant until this age (30) is because I'm so terrified of giving birth! I know women are made to reproduce and millions of women do it every day but I have the biggest phobia of it all 😂 ideally I think I would probably choose to have a water birth if possible but other than that I have no idea what else I would or wouldn't want or where I would want to be lol x

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 15:58

@Jl2020 I would say with it being your first, just go with flow! Nothing is ever set in stone with your first as it can go every which way possible! I'd recommend reading books on hypnobirthing and giving birth in general though, it helps and can alleviate any worries.
A tip for all you first timers though, all fours position tends to result in less chance of tearing or at least minimise it! Although I will say that if you end up with an epidural they will get you to birth on your back generally. Just listen to your body and if your contractions are too much, dont be afraid to ask for pain relief. I had a back to back baby and my contractions were hurrendous! I was in an MLU so unfortunately you only have access to Pethidine and gas and air. X

MeltingSnowflake · 31/03/2021 15:59

Thank you @whitershadeofpale @MyGrassIsBrowner & @milkyway91 - sometimes I think it’s fine and other times I get so worried. I have my NIPT+ scan on Sat so I guess I’ll know then!

@milkyway91 I found The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill great for thinking about what I want for my birth plan - like you, I had no idea!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 31/03/2021 16:00

Any questions ladies, feel free to message on here or a private message. I'll always be happy to answer anything and I'm sure the other ladies on their 2nd and 3rd babies will be happy to answer too! X
