Hello ladies,

Just an update - had the private scan earlier, unfortunately the suspicion of hemivertebra was confirmed, albeit very mild. Everything else seems fine. The doctor was very re-assuring but has recommended that we speak to the NHS consultant on Monday and ask for a referral to a pediatric neurosurgeon. She will most likely develop scoliosis (curved back) but we just don’t know when...A bit terrified for the next 20 weeks in case something else comes up!

Jaymar · 04/06/2021 15:39

@Aki21 that must be so stressful but it’s good to hear that it’s mild and everything else looks healthy. Hopefully you’ll get referred to a really helpful expert who can give you some reassurances about what to expect and what treatment options might be available down the line, if needed.

jessicakxx · 04/06/2021 16:50

@Aki21 thank you for the update, as @Jaymar said I am glad to hear it is mild and that they've noticed it early on and can get the relevant checks done and plan any potential treatment needed. I hope you are feeling a little better after your scan 💞

Cpr12 · 04/06/2021 20:15

@Aki21 I am glad you at least got some more information and glad it is mild. Hopefully the appointment on Monday will give you lots more information. Xx

Cpr12 · 04/06/2021 20:18

@jessicakxx do you have a pregnancy pillow? I have a big u shaped one which helps me not sleep on my back. I get very uncomfortable but never lie on my back and try my hardest to sleep on my left. The pillow is definitely a huge help.

jessicakxx · 04/06/2021 20:58

@Cpr12 I don't have a pregnancy pillow but I am going to order one now especially if it'll stop me waking up on my back! Xx

effoffpigeon · 04/06/2021 21:22

Hello can I join please? I’m due on the 15th

Juicytoot287 · 04/06/2021 21:23

@aki21 Really sorry you have to go through any of the worries but happy to hear it is mild. Rest now and try to put it to the back of your thoughts until Monday.

@jessicakxx I used to sleep on my back, infact i reaallyyyy miss it. Same as you, will wake on my back. 3 things help:

  1. Pregnancy U shape pillow, life saver
  2. If i feel the roll, I have like a pillow barrier which props up one side. I feel as though I am on my back but my belly is angled to the side so I am not flat - temporary relief.
  3. Spoke to a midwife, they said waking on your back is no need to worry as you likely woke due to being uncomfy, just simply go back on your side. That made me feel less guilty lol

Hope you find a way to get comfy soon!

jessicakxx · 04/06/2021 21:35

@Juicytoot287 thank you!! This is good to know and the pillow making you feel as though you're on your back sounds good! I hope I get comfy soon too, I'm going to thoroughly enjoy sleeping on my back post pregnancy 😂

mooloop · 04/06/2021 21:59

@Aki21 hope you're feeling better after your scan and hearing the condition is mild, as tough as it must be to deal with the news ❤️ it'll soon be Monday and hopefully the consultant can give you proper information.

Welcome @effoffpigeonSmile!

Totally agree on the pregnancy pillow recommendations - mine is just a cheap one from asda but it really helps!

Rmka · 04/06/2021 22:07

@Aki21, glad you got more information and that the condition is mild. I hope the appointment with a specialist will go well.

Agree with everyone regarding pregnancy pillow. Money well spent.

pixiedust21 · 04/06/2021 23:44

So tonight I was lying on the bed and suddenly felt a distinct "pop" in my stomach like a bubble popping - I then lay on my back and have felt a few random bubble/twitch type things. And almost like my stomach is rumbling?

I have an anterior placenta so not sure if this is baby or just wind but I have read that they can feel similar haha.

Very excited anyway and will see if it continues over next few days!

jessicakxx · 05/06/2021 07:13

@pixiedust21 aww yes that's it! My placenta is anterior too and until a few days ago, I'm 21 weeks today, that's what they felt like! Yay xxxx

Jl2020 · 05/06/2021 15:33

Iv ordered my pregnancy pillow and cannot wait for it to arrive I sleep on my left side anyway as that is most naturally comfortable for me but the pain in my hips and back is getting to me. Not sure why though as I don't even have a bump yet so not sure where the pain comes from 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
@Aki21 just been catching up on all the comments on here and I'm glad to hear the condition is mild!
@pixiedust21 how exciting to be able to feel movements😍 I still haven't felt anything but now I know I have an anterior placenta I'm not worrying about not feeling anything.

Went shopping today to try and buy some baby clothes but didn't get a single thing as it's all summer stuff lol didn't really think that through 😂

JuicyGreenApple · 05/06/2021 19:24

Hi all, can I join? I know I'm late!! Due DD2 20th October.

Had such a lovely group of Internet friends when DD was born and the group is still going strong! Was hoping to find something similar but nothing yet.

DD1 is also an October lady so will just be turning 5 when this one arrives!

Lovely to meet you all

pixiedust21 · 05/06/2021 19:47

Welcome @JuicyGreenApple Smile I'm due on 27th so not too far behind you! Yay for October babies.

Hope you have been feeling well so far?

I told my husband about the bubble feeling last night and he was like "yeah that's just gas" HOW DO YOU KNOW, I told him it can feel similar but also he's not in my body so has no opinion. Grin

Cpr12 · 05/06/2021 19:59

@effoffpigeon @JuicyGreenApple welcome! Do you know what you are having or are you waiting to see??

@pixiedust21 to begin with I was like, is this wind, but now defo baby. The stronger it gets the more I am like, yup defo baby!! Just waiting for kicks strong enough for my hubby to feel!

Cpr12 · 05/06/2021 20:01

@jl2020 that is the problem, wrong time of year! I have got quite a lot second hand online, I have even got Halloween things 😍

Jl2020 · 05/06/2021 21:42

@Cpr12 I gave up looking in the end as definitely don't need to be buying her summer clothes yet lol.

aww I bet the Halloween things are adorable 😍 😍

effoffpigeon · 06/06/2021 00:35

Thank you for welcoming me😊 I’m having a little boy, we already have DS1 so I’m really excited to give him a brother. My DH was one of 2 boys and was really close to his brother so we always wanted 2 boys☺️. I know what you mean about buying clothes, we’re lucky to have kept DS1’s clothes but it’s so difficult trying to buy in advance

mrssunshinexxx · 06/06/2021 00:41

Hi ladies please could I join? Sorry I'm so late I am on a Nov board but I will be havin planned section very late October probs 28th

mrssunshinexxx · 06/06/2021 00:44

@jessicakxx side sleeping not necessary until 28 weeks xx

Garman · 06/06/2021 06:30

@Jl2020 the pain is probably from your pelvis moving and separating, as well as the hormone relaxin making everything looser. A massage or physio can help if the pillow doesn't.

Kona84 · 06/06/2021 12:28

Last night laid in bed chatting to partner, my hand on my belly just below belly button and I felt the baby kick. I’m 21 weeks today.
I am ashamed to say I screamed- it freaked me out and I almost jumped out of bed.
I’ll be prepared next time.

It’s definitely feeling more active lots of squirming feelings
