@Aki21 hi! I'm not sure what this is but did he give you any more information? Sometimes they have so much technical terms and I don't feel like they ever really explain it well enough to us. I hope all is well though ❤️ Xxxx

Cpr12 · 02/06/2021 21:34

@milkyway91 we bought our pram a month ago as we got it a good deal second hand! Been buying bits and bobs of clothes. Getting a next to me crib free from my friend. Don’t think we will get much more, so we are mostly done haha!

@aki21 sorry, I don’t know anything about it. Did they give you more info? Xx

Aki21 · 02/06/2021 21:51

Hi jessicakxx & Cpr12,

Apparently some spinal malformation, which results in deformation of the spine such as scoliosis.

Have been referred to the consultant to have anothet but only seeing him on Monday.

Everything else was absolutely fine though but reading about it seems to be something very rare.

I am worried what this means for the baby :(

pixiedust21 · 02/06/2021 23:10

Hi all, I am 19 weeks today, still no movements that I can tell yet but scan next week.

A bit sad I don't look pregnant and have no real bump at all, I do just look fat (I'm bigger anyway so I knew logically it would be a while) but just a bit down about it for some reason.

Hoping all is well with baby next week. Thankfully sickness has been gone a good few weeks now but I agree with a pp, the sun and heat haven't helped and I've been off food again!

Garman · 03/06/2021 07:53

@pixiedust21 it's totally normal not to have a bump at 19/20 weeks, still early for that, everyone's pregnancy and body is different. I'm nearly 19 weeks with my 3rd, size 12 and 5ft 8 (taller people tend to hide babies in their torso a bit more!) and don't have any bump at all, totally normal for me. Usually I don't have a noticeable bump until about 28-30 weeks, it's great, still wear all my normal tops and don't have to have attention from in laws or randomers!

jessicakxx · 03/06/2021 08:30

@Aki21 oh I'm really sorry you are having this worry and having to wait over the weekend to see the consultant, I know it's easier said than done, but please try not to worry until you have seen the consultant. I don't know anything about what he has potentially noticed but I'm preying for you and your baby ❤️ could you perhaps call your midwife for a chat? I called my midwife before with no questions but just to tell her my anxieties and she said they're there to listen xx

Cpr12 · 03/06/2021 09:19

@Aki21 as Jessica says I am so sorry you are having to go through this worry. And to have to wait until Monday is just horrible for you. I would say give your midwife a call too. They will always be willing to chat. I really hope all goes well on Monday for you. Keep us informed and will be thinking of you!

@pixiedust21 I am massive haha! 21 weeks but my bump is huge. I would rather be small, wanted to wait until viability to have every person on the street knowing I am pregnant but there is no hiding it! You always want what you don’t have 😂😂

Kona84 · 03/06/2021 10:13

I am 20 weeks and only have bump in certain clothes and certain times of day- mostly evenings.

I have bought quite a few clothes.
My MIL bought us a miniuno next to me crib (second hand) so bought a mattress for it.

I managed to get a mamas and pappas set of drawers with changing table on top that I am going to upcycle in the next few weeks.
Still got so much to buy- and I need to stop looking at Instagram and feeling jealous of the nursery set ups.

@Aki21, I'm sorry you have this worry and have to wait until Monday. I hope both you and the baby will be fine.
I agree you can try call your midwife team, Google is sometimes the enemy that can frighten us for no reason.
Other than that try to keep yourself busy, I know it's impossible to stop worrying, but being busy night help pass the time. Wishing you well for Monday Flowers

Rmka · 03/06/2021 10:37

@Cpr12, I can't hide it anymore either Wink
Also with covid some of my friends still don't know as I haven't seen them, but I will soon. I didn't want to tell over the phone if I knew I'll see someone in person. But I'm sure it will be funny to just show up with a bump out of the blue. Smile

jessicakxx · 03/06/2021 10:46

@Kona84 don't compare your nursery set up to them on Instagram :) our baby won't have their own proper room until they are around 11
Months as we will be starting an extension next March to turn our two bed into a four bed. So baby will just have a cot in our dressing room/office until then! As long as they baby is fed and looked after and loved that's all they need :)

Cpr12 · 03/06/2021 10:48

@Rmka that is lovely though! To just be like ‘ta-da’ hahah! I couldn’t keep my mouth shut, told everyone via message at about 6 weeks haha!

Garman · 03/06/2021 12:58

In 7 years of parenting and on baby number 3 we have never had a nursery, ignore Instagram!

We've told nobody except my dm, nearly 19 weeks now. Will tell people at about 22 weeks, I hate telling people so leaving it as long as possible!

Rmka · 03/06/2021 14:09

@Cpr12, haha, true. I first told close family at 8 weeks. We wanted to wait until 12, but it was too much for me Smile

We are also not planning to have a nursery, my husband needs the spare bedroom to work and when the baby is older, we'll probably move by then.

I am trying to make more space now, giving away clothes I don't wear and other stuff I don't need. I still don't know how much space we need for baby stuff...

Aki21 · 03/06/2021 15:40

Thank you @Rmka, @jessicakxx, @Cpr12 for your kind words and support. Google hasn’t helped...since the scan we’ve been reading about it and thinking about worst case scenario.

We have booked in for a private scan tomorrow ahead of the Monday’s one. I’ve been crying my eyes out and haven’t slept all night, so if there is a slight chance for everything to be ok, i would rather find out tomorrow!!

jessicakxx · 03/06/2021 16:53

@Aki21 good idea to book a private scan in before Monday as you will not be able to settle until you've had the scan. I'm really sorry you are going through this worry, stay strong and I will keep you in my thoughts tomorrow xx

Rmka · 03/06/2021 17:02

@Aki21, that's a good idea. I hope everything will be fine. Flowers

mooloop · 03/06/2021 17:42

@Aki21 I'm sorry to hear about your worries after the scan ❤️ I hope it all turns out ok.

Cpr12 · 03/06/2021 17:51

@jessicakxx @Garman I am seriously considering not doing a nursery until the baby is 1. We will see, it just doesn’t seem all that necessary!

@aki21 good luck for tomorrow, thinking of you and please let us know how you go xx

Kona84 · 03/06/2021 19:05

Yeah the baby will be in with us until we can move.
We have an attic but this is my office for working from home, it’s also got some gym equipment in and I don’t think I’ll feel comfortable having the baby on a different floor.
Really hoping we can move before they turn 1.

Juicytoot287 · 03/06/2021 19:31

Really interesting, have not considered not having a nursery. Always assumed it was necessary.

We may still do it as we won't be moving for a few years yet so a cot bed that we just age up and lasts a few years may be best. Doubt we will go all out though, especially as they are hardly in there whilst babies

jessicakxx · 03/06/2021 20:19

How's everyone sleeping with their growing bumps? I'm quite big now, I am quite small so there's not much room to hide it's all popped out and I look 7 months I'd say 😂

I'm struggling with being comfortable on my sides all night: I find myself waking up on my back, but I have read we're not to sleep on our backs after 20 weeks but it's the only
Comfortable position from the early hours? I've started propping myself up with three pillows to lie on my back, thinking this helps reduce the pressure on the baby.

Is anyone else wanting to sleep on their back? X

mooloop · 04/06/2021 09:22

@jessicakxx I'm small too and feel the same! I'm only 19w tomorrow but because I'm quite little (about 5'2 and a size 10 usually) I feel like I just have this round bump poking out already, it doesn't have much space to go upwards in my torso I guess 😂 I keep googling to see if it's normal but it seems to vary from woman to woman so much.

I woke up at 4am this morning with really bad lower back pain and had to go and get a paracetamol and a hot water bottle 😑 I always used to sleep on my back but I'm trying to train myself to sleep on my side (wedging myself between the pregnancy pillow helps!)

Jaymar · 04/06/2021 10:13

@Aki21 good luck with your scan today Flowers Hope you get some reassurance.

nevergiveuptrying · 04/06/2021 12:34

Hi ladies, just want to say my 20-week went well. Good luck on those who will have heir scans!!
