@Juicytoot287 Oh forgod sake that's terrible. Do you have another hospital you can go to? If not a private scan is a good shout hopefully it will put your mind at rest. I'm sure everything is fine but I remember what a worrying time it was with my first. I wouldn't mind but I was in my 12 week scan for literally 5 mins? It's not like it's a long time you're in there unless there's complications obv. Just weird they are messing you about. X

Juicytoot287 · 12/04/2021 10:28

Called the midwife and she had said it is completely normal atm with so many lockdown babies, they are just calling people and then trying to get them in. Lots of hospitals are also suggesting going private for reassurance and for partners to attend too. Not very good for mental wellbeing i must say which they keep going on about lol!
We do have other hospitals but they are not as close and I would like to be at this one. Midwife says an additional scan isnt harmful so i think I will go ahead with it.

What do you ladies think?

mooloop · 12/04/2021 10:43

That's terrible @Juicytoot287, I'd go for a private one too I think. Thanks

MyGrassIsBrowner · 12/04/2021 10:46

I'd go for a private one in that case. It's odd as I asked my midwife if she thinks there has been a 'baby boom' and she said no, that actually less people are having babies because they are too afraid with Covid restrictions etc. It seems some hospitals are still overwhelmed though but like you say, absolutely no good for your mental wellbeing at all. X

Jl2020 · 12/04/2021 12:00

@Juicytoot287 I had the same response this morning, no date just have to wait as they are busy. I did also speak to my midwife and she is going to chase it for me also.
Iv opted for my first scan in a choice of 4 hospitals near me so you would think one of them would have a date! Aslong as it's before 13+5 apparently it's ok but she's more concerned my bloodwork needs to be done before then so may have to go back to see her for it before a scan.
Apparently in my area there is a baby boom she said she is calling it lockdown lust 😂
I'm also thinking about just booking a private scan but then that means I need to take more time off work which won't be ideal xx

@Juicytoot287 how exciting, good luck for tomorrow 😍 My midwife has just rang me to say my scan is Wednesday 21st and I should receive the letter in the next few days so think I will hold off getting a private scan Xx

mooloop · 12/04/2021 16:15

Hey everyone!

Just back from my scan, measuring 11+2 and due 30th October 🥰 so excited!!

lilomum · 12/04/2021 16:21

That's great news @Jl2020! I'm just back from my scan. Measuring 1 day ahead at just about 13 weeks. So lovely seeing the baby move about. Loved it. Now I keep looking at it, guessing whether it looks more like a boy or a girl Grin

Jl2020 · 12/04/2021 16:36

@mooloop congratulations glad it all went well 💕

@lilomum thankyou! Now I just have to deal with the anxiety of going for a scan after an mmc last year, just don't want to hear those words again! But keep telling myself this is a new pregnancy ☺️
Aww those scan pics are lovely so glad it went well! I'm guessing boy for absolutely no reason lol 💙

lilomum · 12/04/2021 16:40

Definitely, new pregnancy! I do understand the anxiety though. Lovely guess, I have no reasoning for my guesses either. I'm leaning towards girl but only my feeling!

whitershadeofpale · 12/04/2021 18:32

My scan was scheduled for next week, when I’d have been 13+4.

I’ve called today and got a cancellation so am going on Thursday. It’s my mum’s 60th birthday this weekend and I’ll be seeing people that I’d like to tell but wasn’t comfortable until I’ve had a scan (I had one at 6weeks for one sided pain and saw that all was ok and the baby had a heartbeat), one part of me is really excited but the other part is terrified!

pixiedust21 · 12/04/2021 22:21

Haven't been on for a few days, hope everyone is doing okay!

Really struggling with sickness here, couldn't keep anything down today. It's so draining :(

Seems like forever til my proper scan too, after having one where I only measured 10 weeks! Going on the 26th but excited to see baby again and see if they can give me a rough due date. :)

Cpr12 · 13/04/2021 09:58

@mooloop @lilomum congrats both on your scans!

Glad everyone is starting to get their dates. I am totally shocked at how poor the service is in some areas, I already have my date for my 20 week scan!

@pixiedust21 have you spoken to the midwife about your sickness, if you cant keep anything down they may give you some anti sickness tablets. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I am now at the stage where I kind of dont feel pregnant so am a bit like, you ok in there wee one 😂😂😂 is anyone else the same??

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 10:03

@Cpr12 I cant believe how shocking the services are in some areas either! I got my sexing scan through the day after my 12 week scan!

I'm also with you on not feeling pregnant now, and I gutted the downstairs of the house yesterday, like absolutely gutted it, re-arranged the kitchen and all sorts 🤣 I keep hoping I can feel movement so I know baba is okay but nothing yet 🙈

Jelliestogether · 13/04/2021 10:11

@Cpr12 and @MyGrassIsBrowner I'm very jealous of you both feeling not pregnant 😂 I'm looking forward to those days! I'm 11+3 today so hoping it's not too far around the corner!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 10:26

@Jelliestogether I'm 14+3 now so slightly ahead of you chick but I'm sure you and the other ladies will all start perking up soon, it really does get better and one day you'll wake up and the sickness will have just dissapeared! X

Cpr12 · 13/04/2021 10:37

@mygrassisbrowner glad you have all that energy! I am totally taking it easy just incase I have incompetent cervix but defo feel like I have more energy! And yeah, I keep thinking the same. I never got that far last time, but hoping I start feeling kicks soon! When have you felt it previously?

@jelliestogether yeah it wont be long, I am 13+6 so a fair bit further too. But having said that I was feeling pretty sick on Friday. Sometimes it just comes from nowhere.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 11:06

@Cpr12 Oh bless you, I hope it causes you no issues!!
With my first I felt definitive movement at 18 weeks, I took a video of my belly and I could actually see baby kicking as well but my DD was extremely active in the womb. Some women dont feel movement until gone 20 weeks but the position of your placenta can change a l

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 11:07

Typed too fast! lobs phone

What I was saying is that the position of your placenta can effect how soon you feel movement as well. X

Roisin86 · 13/04/2021 11:14

Hello wondering if I can join? Due baby no3 October 20th 2021 xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 11:17

@Roisin86 Hiya lovely, welcome and congratulations! 😁 I'm on baby no.2! How are you feeling? X

Roisin86 · 13/04/2021 11:29

Hi! I'm pretty nauseous, annoyingly it started getting worse at 10 weeks! Hoping it passes soon! How are you feeling? What age is other little one?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 11:36

Mine started later with my first, actually between 14 and 16 weeks. I hope it passes for you soon. Really plain food and iced water was my saviour. I lived off jacket potatoes for a while lol.
My little girl has just turned 1, she's crawling now so I can't turn my back for a minute lol! How old are yours? X

Roisin86 · 13/04/2021 11:54

Ah my youngest is 13 months, walking now! Can't imagine how hard it will be with a newborn too! My eldest girl is 8 so she's a great help most of the time!
Yes I'm loving plain crisps and fizzy drinks... So unhealthy 😂
