@mygrassisbrowner yeah, I have seen that. I was just over 19 weeks and felt nothing. So really hoping it is earlier this time! And hey the ic thing, it just gives me an excuse to not do any house work for the next 10 weeks haha!

@roisin86 welcome to the group! I have been so much more sick this time round! But hopefully think it is passing! Get yourself lots of ice lollies!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 12:23

@Roisin86 oh that's lovely, bet your 8 year old loves helping mummy!! 🥰

@Cpr12 well, you can't really grumble at that can you haha! I'd LOVE not to have to lift a finger for 10 weeks 🤣 not only have I got my DD we have a 4 year old greyhound as well who is bonkers. My house is fun! 🙈

Cpr12 · 13/04/2021 12:29

@mygrassisbrowner i stopped everything as soon as I found out I was pregnant! So already 9 weeks of getting out of doing everything. The only downside is my poor husband is useless. So the house is a tip and take out has been our staple food 🙈 each well only potentially 5.5 months to go 😂😂😂 we have 2 huskies so that also makes the house fun. Especially when they both try to lie in my pregnancy pillow at night with me 😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 12:38

Tbh I actually dont blame you! Pregnancy is hard enough as it is. If the house goes to shit so what! When I had DD I never napped when she did and instead cleaned and caught up with washing but this time I'm doing sweet FA! I had a pretty rough recovery as well which I'm hoping will be a bit smoother this time. Still convinced I've had a mild prolapse as well so trying to do my pelvic floors everyday haha!
Oh wow huskies!!!! 😍 I love big dogs the bigger the better. I want an Irish Wolfhound after this one but they have a pretty short lifespan much like Greys tbh and it's heartbreaking. It's always their legs they have issues with. My grey is just a nutter though but equally super lazy and loves sleeping haha. DD is obsessed with him! X

Cpr12 · 13/04/2021 12:49

@mygrassisbrowner awww sweet, so nice when they are proper buddies! No idea what will happen with my mutts if I bring a noisy child home haha! Yeah for me doing things is not worth the risk. Feels very strange to me and I struggle to sleep at night but until I know if my cervix works or not, I am off my feet haha! Hope this time is easier for you! Pregnancy is rough!!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 14:39

@Cpr12 mine is just quite happy as long as he's getting pats and fusses haha!
What happens if you have issues with your cervix? I've got my fingers crossed for you that everything is as it should be!
Pregnancy can be so rough for us ladies, honestly the things we do! 🤣 x

Juicytoot287 · 14/04/2021 07:08

had my private scan! Baby dated 11+6 until i had to releave my bladder, then it dated 12+1 !! So I am going for 12 in the middle.
Gosh, reassurance scan is definitely what it is and so happy my partner could join me and see it all too. He is just as excited as me so would have been a shame to miss it.

Now i almost want my NHS scan later so spread out my sneak peak at the bean lol!

weetee0102 · 14/04/2021 08:53

I'm sorry to hear some of you are having trouble getting a date for your first scan, as if it's not stressful enough waiting to see baby and to time the screening test right, no excuse for them not being on the ball. I don't know if it's different in Scotland but when I called the midwife service when I found out I was pregnant at 3 or 4 weeks they gave me a date over the phone for my first midwide consult and 12 week scan, got the letters the next week. I had my scan last week at 13 weeks and thankfully everything looked good, just waiting on my combined results coming back, but again got my my follow up appointments and scan dates that same day, so I can't fault them up in Glasgow, so far. I hope everyone I doing well, this is my first post abs it's still sinking in as first pregnancy at 35 x

Cpr12 · 14/04/2021 09:26

@juicytoot287 congrats, glad all went well! Interesting on the full bladder and size! I didnt know that could affect it! Glad your partner got to go too, so unfair this still is not an option in some places 🥺

@weetee0102 I am edinburgh and exact same here. Had my dates the day I called. Congrats on the scan! I am the same, had my scan last week and just waiting for results, but as it has been a full week now I already know they will be fine or they would have called 😊

weetee0102 · 14/04/2021 09:46

@Cpr12 thank you and you too its a relief to see your baby doing well on the scan. See they didn't say anything to me about calling in 3 days if anything was wrong, although almost every thread I've read says that they will do that but wasn't sure if it was different in Scotland. I did call on Monday but my midwife isn't in until tomorrow, they just said it can take up to two weeks, a call if something is wrong and a letter if ok
I'm. So impatient. She'll probably call me now to return my call and I'll have a heart attack.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 09:48

@Juicytoot287 so pleased it all went well! Bet it was lovely to see little bean 🥰

@weetee0102 hey hunnie welcome and congratulations! Very exciting times! Trust me I dont think you ever fully come to terms with being pregnant, it's a crazy, wonderful and super exciting if not slightly nerve wracking journey! X

lilomum · 14/04/2021 10:23

That was the same for me @weetee0102 @Cpr12, phoned just after the positive test and got all appointments through within a week. I'm in Edinburgh also. Can't fault the service at all. I've seen in other areas that women can't take their partners to the scan still, which is such a shame. I'm so glad mine got to experience it. Very thankful for that.

Jl2020 · 14/04/2021 11:20

@Juicytoot287 so glad your scan went well and everything is ok 😁

Fortunately in my area you can now take your partner to your scan but they have to leave straight after so won't be able to stay whilst bloods are done or anything which is fair enough. I really didn't want to have to go alone again this time after being on my own for all the appointments and scans last year when it wasn't good news.

Hope everyone is feeling ok xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 12:38

I've just had a midwife appointment over the phone, quick catch up regarding how I'm feeling etc. They said my next face to face meeting with them wont be until 28 weeks! Which I'm shocked at but they said as it's my 2nd baby you're pretty much left to it unless I have any worries then just to call the delivery suite at the hospital, which is fair enough.
I finally got my screening results through from my bloods and I am 1 in 12,000 for downs and 1 in 50,000 for Edwards and Patau. Just going to roll with that now, what will be will be! I'm also booked in for a GD glucose test at 26 weeks as my bmi is 30.2 so just over the threshold for being at risk of GD. I did ask the midwife if I can still be considered for homebirth if I end up having GD and she said as long as baby isn't massively over percentile a home birth wont be a problem. I'm only 1 mile from the hospital so a transfer can be easily done if I came into any complications.

lilomum · 14/04/2021 12:46

Wow @MyGrassIsBrowner, that is so late. It's also my second child but I had one face-to-face at 8 weeks, scan at 12, next midwife face-to-face at 16 weeks, scan at 20 and they said to me that's the normal. Just looking at the NHS website and it looks that the later regular ones are indeed just for first time mums: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/ I had no idea! Though that seems be in England only as in Scotland you seem to do them all even in subsequent pregnancies: services.nhslothian.scot/Maternity/PregnantWhatNext/WhatMaternityCareWillIHave/Pages/default.aspx they did say to me though that due to COVID antenatal classes are only offered for first time parents. How are you feeling about it? Are you quite relaxed or do you worry?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 13:13

@lilomum I've had one face to face appointment with them when I had bloods anf urine dipped well before my 12 week scan, I've got my appointment for my 20 week scan now too (partner is allowed at that one fortunately)
I'll be honest I'm quite chill about the whole pregnancy this time round, I'm sort of just taking each day as it comes. I haven't really had much time to sit and really connect with the little bean this time as all my energy is on my little girl and my big bonkers Greyhound lol. DH is having a really shitty time at work atm so is looking for another job so kind of have my mind on others things at the moment and not letting my pregnancy consume me. I just hope I can start feeling some definite movement soon! I'm super eager lol. How are you feeling this time round? X

lilomum · 14/04/2021 13:21

That's good then @MyGrassIsBrowner. I'm feeling absolutely fine, no symptoms really apart from sudden tiredness every in the early weeks. Hopefully it continues being uneventful! To be honest I don't really feel pregnant yet. It's all a bit surreal. Probably once I start showing and it it will all settle in! Can't wait for movements. I can't remember when that started first time round but it's probably still another month or so away. I'm 13 weeks exactly today. How have you been keeping so far?

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 13:37

@lilomum Lovely that you're having non of the nasty symptoms. With my first I felt movement at 18 weeks and I remember it vividly. I'm 14+4 so slightly ahead of you but midwife did ask me if I'd felt movement and wouldn't be unrealistic to feel flutters around now with it being my second.
I've had really hurrendous nausea from around 6 weeks which fingers crossed has finally subsided now. Still waiting on that pregnancy glow but I'm not exactly going out at the moment so just my DH that has to put up with my ugly face right now 🤣

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 13:41

@lilomum forgot to ask, are you low risk pregnancy? Have any ideas on where you'd like to birth?

whitershadeofpale · 14/04/2021 14:55

Did anyone else have a freak out the day before their scan? I’ve felt awful all week with nausea and yesterday felt fine and was eating things I haven’t enjoyed for weeks and now got myself into a right state this morning, convinced that I’d had a MMC.

lilomum · 14/04/2021 15:17

@MyGrassIsBrowner good your nausea has subsided a bit. That would be quite tricky to handle. No pregnancy glow here either! My skin has gone particularly dry and certainly don't feel very glowy!
Yes, low risk for me too and midwife wanted me to consider a home birth as apparently I'd be a good candidate. I don't think I'd fee too comfortable at home, worrying about disturbing neighbours. I ended up with an epidural the last time and was glad doctors where about for that when I needed it. I've got a really good midwifery unit close by with birth suites so I think I'll go for that. Not too clinical but if things go south, I'm close by for help. How about you? Are you considering a home birth?

@whitershadeofpale, I've had some last minute apprehension. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine and I think it's very normal to suddenly ask yourself "oh gosh, what if I don't see what I want to see?" Fingers crossed for you!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 15:39

@lilomum haha no I get that, see I dont care but thankfully we have pretty thick walls and on good terms with our neighbours so I'd probably just get my DH to give them the heads up.
I was in a MLU with my first and it was lovely, you're limited to only being able to use gas & air and pethidine though so bare that in mind. If you want an epidural they have to then transfer you onto a ward instead.
I managed on the pethidine but it was painful as DD was back to back. I have a strong pain threshold though apparently 🤣

I've since moved and where I am now there is no MLU so it'd be straight on a ward which I really want to avoid so hoping I can go through with having a homebirth.

@whitershadeofpale Nerves are totally normal! I'd be more worried if you weren't nervous. I'm sure that little bean is absolutely fine! I think the worry is always heightened at this stage as we can't feel them moving yet. Good luck! X

Juicytoot287 · 14/04/2021 15:45

@whitershadeofpale oh my gosh yes! I was so nervous and convinced myself too good to be true so i think a bit of worry is normal. Try to take your mind off it, I did some cleaning and put a film on to help time pass quickly. I did also find voicing my fears with my partner really helped rationalise it! Only worry about what you can control he always says, which i suppose is very true!

All will be worth it tomorrow when you can get excited all over again!

Cpr12 · 14/04/2021 16:24

@whitershadeofpale totally normal to worry! I think until you can feel movement it is only natural. Especially when you go from feeling horrid to feeling totally fine! If it wasn't for my massive bump (at 14 weeks 🙈) I wouldnt even know I was pregnant anymore.

@lilomum @mygrassisbrowner I never even thought of neighbours if you have a home birth!! Haha! That could be a fun Halloween for someone 😂😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 14/04/2021 16:37

@Cpr12 To be honest we heard our neighbours shagging in their hot tub a few months ago (me and DH laid in bed like.... ermmmmm.....) so I'm gonna make a right old racket hahaha!!
