@MrsMcNtobe get both, it’s not as simple at just ‘newborn’ though. Each shop has a different weight for newborn, I think sainsburys is 10lb, Asda is 9lb maybe(?). Have a check of the labels, it’s good to get a decent range. I ended up now buying any tiny baby stuff but DC was 7 lb 6oz and 56cms he was so skinny and long nothing fit. Had to get a bundle from Facebook market place that were 5-7lb in a hurry🤭.

I’m gagging to buy stuff, even though we have most things lots have said girl on the scan and I’ll be on a mission if it is a girl 🥳.

A must is the eucalyptus free rider, I don’t think I’ll survive without that with two on the go😂.

Maybebaby29 · 11/03/2021 19:33

Ohhh I was hoping you’re were all going to say you’ve bought loads then it would be me the green light to go crazy 😂🙈 might start buying bottles etc when they are on offer. I’ve been looking at sterilisers and saw they do a UV light one now! Has anyone else seen them? They are meant to be really quick too.
Are you leaving buying bigger items like pushchairs etc until after 20 weeks?

Rach921 · 11/03/2021 19:34

Evening ladies ☺️ Not been on for a few days so just catching up on all the messages! There have been so many! Loving all of the scan pics 🥰

I’ve got my scan tomorrow morning 🤞🏻 I will be 12 weeks exactly.

I feel like I’ve turned such a corner this week! My energy levels are back, nausea pretty much gone and I’m back to eating healthy nutritious food rather than the beige stodge I’ve lived on for weeks! Now I feel better and have my energy back, I’m looking forward to getting back to exercise and just enjoying the pregnancy. The first part I spent most days in tears and so down!

FTEngineerM · 11/03/2021 19:38

Fingers crossed for the scan tomorrow @Rach921 exciting you get to see them.

@Maybebaby29 How long do they stay sterile after the UV one? How does that compare with other methods? Stock up now 😀

SP2Bx · 11/03/2021 19:47

Hey @Gadea I’m very fortunate that where I am the hospitals are linked to this charity so it’s very easy to just sign up and that’s it done, but I know they only do it at certain ones. I wouldn’t know the first thing about it otherwise so I hope you can do some looking into it!

@FTEngineerM I’m definitely going to have a mixture of sizes in the hospital bag for this reason! I remember when my niece was born my sister had taken the newborn outfit she wanted to bring her home in and it absolutely swamped her 😂 so at least one tiny baby for definite!

MrsMcNtobe · 11/03/2021 19:54

@FTEngineerM jeezo I really need to do my research on sizes and what I’m buying 🤣

@Maybebaby29 Amazon had good Tommee tippee deals on bottles etc! We’re currently in a tiny flat so might need to settle for microwave steriliser if we don’t move before baby is here! 😭 I had a look at prams and the website I looked at said 10-14 working days for delivery so I was going to wait til 20/25 weeks.

Have you thought about what pram you’ll get?

2021mumma · 11/03/2021 20:00

@Duesept21 I’m on cyclizine and another drug cyclizine literally knocked me out first few weeks then it got better I’m still super nauseous hope passed soon

Maybebaby29 · 11/03/2021 20:07

@MrsMcNtobe I’ve always used the new shape Avent for my other 2 and they worked really well, no colic or lots of wind so I’m going to try get them on offer! I got a baby bath support the other day because it was on offer 🙈 random! I’ve always had icandy’s with my other 2 I really like them so I’m going for the Icandy peach again! I’m going to get a grey one anyway so I don’t really need to wait to find out the gender but I’m not sure if it’s something I should wait until after the 20 week scan for. @FTEngineerM I’m not sure how long they stay sterile for but it says that they put uv light on them every 2 hours to keep them clean while they are in there?

FTEngineerM · 11/03/2021 20:12

Ah that sounds cool so they live in there, I’ll take a look. I’ve been using Mam bottles which are self sterilising in the micro because we only started bottle feeding at 8m and he already ate mud so not too bothered 😂🤭 but they sick up bloody water if you cool them in water!!!! Infuriating. Going to get different set up for this baby. Don’t know what bottles are good to get though that aren’t Mam?

FTEngineerM · 11/03/2021 20:14

Suck up**

Mamabearwhere · 11/03/2021 20:17

@MrsMcNtobe I have a bugaboo chameleon that I used for both my children and was amazing. A buggy board for those having their second is a must btw, so nice for the toddler to ride on it while baby is on the pram. I am dying to buy the Doona stroller, have you seen them? It’s an infant car seat that transforms into a pram. It’s going to be a lifesaver for when I’m doing the school run and baby is asleep. I sold all my other things when I was going through my PND thinking I won’t have anymore but luckily my best friend had a baby last year so she has kindly offered to give me all her big baby items since her baby will have outgrown them!

@FTEngineerM the dr brown bottles are always top of the list of best baby bottles. I used them with my second baby (first was breastfed and refused bottle) and they were great. I hate that most bottles have a million and one pieces and makes washing/sterilising so long but guess they help keep the wind out and avoid unsettling their tummy. My friend was mentioning that apparently glass bottles are meant to be best now but I haven’t looked into them yet although I can imagine many accidents and breakages already.

@Sillysocks998 I'm feeling something similar! I was describing it to my partner as if I had a ball down there that was being inflated every so often. No idea what it is

@SP2Bx thanks 😊 I will ask my midwife about it on my next appointment

SP2Bx · 11/03/2021 21:03

I have got SO much to learn/look into as a first timer 🙈 I don’t even know where to start with bottles. Do I need them straight off if I’m planning on trying to breastfeed? I’ve been looking at travel systems but will definitely wait a while and then try to take advantage of a sale somewhere - anyone had the Cosatto Wow Continental? Read some good reviews and love the patterns but don’t know anyone who’s actually had one... It’s an actual minefield out there, so much conflicting information! I’ll be winging it 😅

Sillysocks998 · 11/03/2021 21:13

@Gadea bless you for replying to my randomness! Lol. I feel like I need that big yoga ball to find some relief! It's like I need a number 2. But I don't at all. I'll run it past consultant tomorrow and see what she says. Night all x

bluemagicalsky · 11/03/2021 21:29

@Sillysocks998 I had this a couple of days ago. It felt so uncomfortable. Tried to ignore it best I could for that day. Has calmed down now but I know it's going to be back! One of the many rubbish pregnancy symptoms 😳

Rach921 · 11/03/2021 21:42

@SP2Bx I feel the same as a first timer! It’s all very overwhelming! I don’t know how I’m going to learn everything and work out what to do 🙈

AdventuresAwait · 11/03/2021 21:46

Me too @Rach921 & @SP2Bx! Grin

FTEngineerM · 12/03/2021 06:06

Thanks @Mamabearwhere I’ll take a look, I suppose glass bottles is about micro plastics? I was reading that somewhere.

@SP2Bx no you don’t have to get any, I didn’t last time. Bought some bottles when I got the pump at about 6 weeks then only used about 1 a month. I’m learning about it all now and he’s nearly 9m😂🙊They’re sold everywhere too so if there’s an emergency you go go tesco and get some.

I am good for most apparatus, we have the egg pram and OMFG it’s heavy, slightly dreading making it a double. But it is robust and been good for the carrycot when they’re tiny.

It’s such an exciting time preparing for a baby 🥳.

Jay3004 · 12/03/2021 07:29

@Maybebaby29 I’ve gone crazy and bought loads if you want to use that as your green light Grin

unicornpower · 12/03/2021 07:30

I'm another first timer and have no clue what I'm doing tbh! I keep looking at things online and wondering if I'll actually need them or do i just want them. Prams etc I think we'll leave until the 3rd trimester, is that enough time?

Sorry I haven't caught up with everyone, been feeling rubbish again with the nausea and have been back at work this week so I'm exhausted 😴

@Rach921 good luck for your scan this morning! And you @Sillysocks998! Mine is this afternoon so already feeling sick with nerves! (Hope i havent missed anyone off who has a scan today- good luck to everyone) xx

SP2Bx · 12/03/2021 07:45

Rach921 · 12/03/2021 07:54

Thank you @SP2Bx You too @unicornpower and @Sillysocks998! Looking forward to hearing how you get on! Mine is at 10.40. I’m nervous but also excited - you know that feeling of when you wake up to go on holiday 😂 just hoping it’s all ok. Can’t believe it’s finally here! X

Sillysocks998 · 12/03/2021 08:03

Thank you girls xxx
