With my little boy we didn’t find out the gender we did with my daughter. My husband doesn’t want to find out this time but I really do I’m too nosy! I might just find out before and not tell anyone I know 🙈

AdventuresAwait · 11/03/2021 16:26

I'm 39 too @Noodles4me! I wondered if anyone was my age but didn't want to ask 🤣

AdventuresAwait · 11/03/2021 16:27

@Maybebaby29, I hadn't heard of them so am glad you told us! Smile

Mamabearwhere · 11/03/2021 16:57

Ladies what are your thoughts on placenta encapsulation? Have any of you done it before? Previously it grossed me out but apparently it’s amazing for avoiding postpartum depression and I’m really determined to avoid getting depression again after I did with my second baby

@Mamabearwhere I am so interested in this too! Apparently there's not much scientific fact to it, but lots of women swear by it. I'm really tempted to do it, even if it's just for a placebo effect. As you had postpartum depression with your 2nd, I absolutely think it would be worth a try if you're thinking about it. Would also love to hear from anyone that has tried it.

Hello! Please can I join. I've been following for a while but feel brave enough to post following my 12 week scan on Tuesday. My due date is 21st September. Starting to feel a bit more real. Only told a few people at work because of a few early scares. Waiting to tell our parents on Sunday. First grandchild for both sets of parents. Lovely to finally say hello to you all Smile

Sillysocks998 · 11/03/2021 18:03

I'm 36 first baby!
Hello @Clouless were a good bunch.
I was thinking, we've only had this group and support of each other for a 3rd of our pregnancies. I want to tell my sister tomorrow. She will be mad with me that I didn't tell her. But I was scared. Still am. But hopefully she'll take the news well and be happy 😊📰. Scan tomorrow I am feeling more nervous now. Just hope the baby is developing OK and there is a heart beat. So interested to see him or her. @unicornpower

Squibble84 · 11/03/2021 18:07

@Kirky658 is there a number in your letter that you can call? On my letter with the results on, there was a number for the screening team at the bottom and I spoke to them about why my results were higher (1 in 650 for edwards/patau) as well as age/previous history, they look at the hormone levels in the blood. Because my Papp-A and HCG were both 0.4, they can be potential markers for those syndromes, or it can mean absolutely nothing! I got the nipt in the end as our first baby had patau syndrome so for us, it was essential to know. Nipt came back less than 1 in 100,000 for both syndromes. The NHS screening test can be wildly inaccurate!

Squibble84 · 11/03/2021 18:08

@Clouless welcome and congrats!

@Sillysocks998 good luck for your scan tomorrow! X

Duesept21 · 11/03/2021 18:17

So scan went well and so pleased to see just one baby in there! One very, very uncooperative wriggly baby!

Got a fab photo right at the end though. Would love to hear your ideas on gender? I think boy but my partner thinks girl.

@unicornpower just been taking 1 tablet most days so it I can make them last longer! Usually get to work and decide if I feel sick enough to take them (almost every day) then don't bother with another when I get home and just lie around feeling sorry for myself and trying to avoid housework!

September 2021 thread 3 🥳
Sillysocks998 · 11/03/2021 18:21

@Squibble84 thank you 😁
Has anyone got right side pain? It's like a pulsating feeling just comes and goes. I have been rubbing my ribs downwards in the last week too. Is that really ligament pain? Anyone experiencing this?

AdventuresAwait · 11/03/2021 18:33

Wow - That's a great pic @Duesept21!

Not heard of placenta encapsulation @Mamabearwhere, will look it up!

Welcome and congratulations @Clouless Smile

Clouless · 11/03/2021 18:39

Thanks everyone!

Kirky658 · 11/03/2021 18:41

@squibble84 that's really good to know. There is a number on the letter so I might call and ask them. Mine went to a different hospital to be analysed so hopefully that won't make any difference. Tbh I've just had a good long chat and a cry with DH and we both came to the conclusion that we want this baby more than anything so whatever will be, will be! Xxx

Maybebaby29 · 11/03/2021 18:43

@Sillysocks998 I have that but on the left side! Must be growing pains! I also get a bruised feeling on parts of my tummy sometimes.
Has anyone bought anything yet? I’m dying to start buying bits and bobs when I see them but I’m scared I’m going to jinx it

SP2Bx · 11/03/2021 18:46

Cute scan @Duesept21! Did they confirm your EDD?

I won’t be doing anything with the placenta, I am donating my umbilical cord though to a stem cell charity :)

SP2Bx · 11/03/2021 18:48

@Maybebaby29 I have bought a little Dumbo outfit 🙈 it’s way way too early but walked past it in Tesco and couldn’t resist. Plus I wanted to be the first to buy anything and didn’t want my mum or his getting in first 😂 I’m not overly superstitious though and it’s out my system now🙈😂

AdventuresAwait · 11/03/2021 18:49

I get a bruised feeling on my tummy too sometimes @Maybebaby29! Wondered what it was.

We have bought all big things that we need. I am loving looking at things and making lists of what else to get nearer the time.

Bubbles1st · 11/03/2021 18:56

@Maybebaby29 I bought an outfit on my way home from the early 8week scan we had. Mainly just because we were in the supermarket and I thought I've bought so many clothes for so many babies for other people over the last 15 Years and I couldn't believe I could actually buy something for my own baby!!

I haven't bought anything since other than a pregnancy pillow.

We have decorated and put new carpet in the nursery but to be fair that was more circumstantial as we about to redecorate and thought lockdown would be ideal whilst out business was closed!

Mamabearwhere · 11/03/2021 18:58

@Maybebaby29 I’m dying to start buying too but I want to confirm gender first because if it turns out to be a girl I really don’t need to buy a thing for the next 6 years 😂 if it’s a boy then I can go crazy and buy everything which will be equally exciting and daunting as don’t know the first thing about dressing a boy

OP posts:
Gadea · 11/03/2021 19:10

@SP2Bx I would also like to donate the umbilical cord however I understand not all hospitals can facilitate that? Do you have any more information on it? I'm really interested! Have you spoken to your midwife (or anyone else) about it?
Sorry for all the questions 😇

MrsMcNtobe · 11/03/2021 19:13

@Mamabearwhere I was really interested in that and looked at a girl who done it locally buuut it was a lot more expensive than I realised so now I’m not sure what to do 😂

MrsMcNtobe · 11/03/2021 19:16

@Maybebaby29 omg the bruised feeling! I’ve had it a lot over the last couple of days, good to know it’s probably normal if some of us have it.

I haven’t bought anything yet, I thought I’d be ordering everything but I don’t know whether to go for newborn or 0-3 months?! Babe looks very leggy from my scan so think he/she might be long (daddy is tall lol)

Sillysocks998 · 11/03/2021 19:23

@Maybebaby29
I ovulated from my left. Saw that in my early scan. Great big hole on the left side ovary! So this right side thing is new. Will ask consultant tomorrow. Also tmi here... I feel like my anus (trying to be professional here) is being pushed outwards. 😭😂😕. Is that pressure building up. I am only small, 5 foot 1 and 50kg! Anyone else feeling these possible growing pains? Making me so restless.

Duesept21 · 11/03/2021 19:25

@SP2Bx oh yeah due date has come forward a couple of days to September 19th
