Oh do you think they are braxton hicks? I just assumed (as it happens more often in the evening) it was just stretching and a bit tight in there from a day full of food/drink? Was really hard and tight yesterday evening.
First baby for me so all of this is brand new and 26 weeks today.

@MrsTD88 that sounds like a boring day at the hospital! 😄 I've got my 28 week scan @ 9am and then the GD tests after, it's due to my dad being diabetic they want to test me so praying it's all ok.

We're being given a 4th hand buggy system, one of the fancy and expensive icandy's. Although with it being 4th hand I don't think it's going to look as fancy as I'd hoped! 😁

queenie273646 · 06/07/2021 11:08

@MrsTD88 I'm glad your sickness has passed it really runs you down the first trimester , hopefully the next few month won't drag for you I felt like It took ages to get to 12 weeks and then all of a sudden I was 6 months!
@Mrsserenalewis ive went for the egg2 this time had an icandy with my first , also got the maxi cosi 360 car seat, I was looking at cybex but I had a cybex sirona with my first and found it abit clunky to use so decided to go for something different. My first baby was 8 days late waters went first labour didn't progress ended up on drip which did sod all 😂 and she popped out and l was 7.5 pounds me and my husband were heavy babies so I was expecting a whopper but we did ivf and apparently ivf babies are born smaller on average .

Moominmiss · 06/07/2021 11:24

@Mrsserenalewis so for me it means I have to be super strict with my diet, lots of learning about pairing foods as I can’t have naked carbs, so it’s trial and error to see what foods my body can tolerate.

I will be testing 4 times a day. Once first thing in the morning which is my fasting test, then once after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hoping I can keep it under control with diet alone but I’m not hopeful, as I just don’t understand it all.

I honestly just thought diabetes meant limiting sugary things 🙈

There’s a possibility I will end up on metformin or insulin to control it. If I end up on insulin then it’s likely my c section will be brought forward to 38 weeks rather than 39.

Ah I like Stokke ones too! I’ve gone opposite to you. All the prams I’ve had in the past have been sensible neutral colours like grey, so this time I’ve gone for a gorgeous blue egg. He’ll be my last baby so thought why not! Lol

Aozora13 · 06/07/2021 19:14

Well 28 week check was fun! Looks like I’ve got a UTI (joy), need to speak to the GP to see if I can get physio for my pelvic pain and blood pressure is still v low (which explains why I’m a bit wobbly!). At least I’ve got my Mat B1 form so can start formally looking forward to mat leave Grin

@Mrsserenalewis I have my own personal sling library! I like the stretchy wrap for carting a newborn at home but prefer the more sturdy baby bjorn one for outside (mainly psychological I think!) then I switched to an ergo 360 after about 3 months. If I had to pick one it’d be the ergo though.

In answer to your question, DD1 came the day after her due date and weighed 3.4kg and DD2 came 5 days early and weighed…3.4kg. I’m hoping DD3 will also come early so I can avoid induction but they already moved my due date forward (to a biologically impossible conception date) so we’ll see. Plus I also have a low-lying placenta so will depend on that moving too…

@Moominmiss hope you can manage the GD with diet - I have to say I also thought it was just dialling back the Haribo and fizzy pop!

MrsTD88 · 06/07/2021 22:03

@Mrsserenalewis I'm so exhausted at the moment, an overwhelming tiredness. How are you feeling?

@Kiza hopefully all comes back clear for you too! It is such a long day but so worth it just to know all is good.

@queenie273646 it definitely seems to jump from 1st trimester to third. Just hoping the next few months go in quickly.

@Aozora13 oh no I hope your UTI clears up and your blood pressure regulates for you!

Mrsserenalewis · 07/07/2021 10:08

Also so drained but hopefully the six weeks holidays will give me a little breathing time.

The grandparents are taking the children for a week during the holiday. My husband will be working. I plan on sleeping the whole week 🙈

Anyone managed to book antenatal class. I can only seem to find online classes.

Finding it a little bit lonely this time I don’t know anyone that’s pregnant in my area this time around x

Monstermunch87 · 07/07/2021 11:33

Hi. We are doing “new life” antenatal classes in Bristol and we had our first in person one last night!

I’m shattered- managed only a few hours sleep last night. Nothing wrong just couldn’t seem to get back to sleep between 2-5am. Bring on the school holidays!!

MrsTD88 · 07/07/2021 15:49

@Mrsserenalewis a break for a week sounds amazing! I'm in Scotland so our schools are already off ... for just shy of 8 weeks!! 🙈 my 5 year old is already fed up and ready to go to school as I'm working from home every day, thankfully family having been taking her for days out.

Mrsserenalewis · 08/07/2021 15:29

Anyone near Hertfordshire area know of any antenatal or new mum groups.
X

@Monstermunch87 I'm from near bristol :)

I have been knocked off my feet this week with cold, being pregnant and asthmatic really doesnt help I hope I feel better tomorrow... officially on leave now though yayyy.

My 1st DD was born at term +13 induced for post dates.

2nd DD induction at 39+2 for pre labour rupture of membranes. Keeping everything crossed for a natural labour third time!

Mrsserenalewis · 09/07/2021 08:36

Very jealous. Enjoy your maternity leave. Put your feet up

Can anyone recommend a good belly support band. I walk every where. My bump feels so heavy and achy x

Apologies of this is TMI for some people but seeking advice as I've tried calling my GP but can't get through and midwife fobbed me off.
I've got very swollen vagina lips (both inner and outer) and feel dry most days (although still getting pregnancy discharge in my pants).
I assumed it was thrush so have been using cannistan cream for 2 weeks - no joy!

I've read pregnancy can cause swollen vagina lips and wondered if the swelling is causing the dryness and a bit of friction rubbing causing the slight itchiness.
My widowed just said call the GP but I can never get through after calling 4 times during my lunch hour.

Has anyone had this? I'm not sure it's thrush as I'm not itchy every day... 🤔

Moominmiss · 10/07/2021 11:14

@Kiza yes! Me. I’ve got this on and off. It’s horrible. At first I also assumed thrush but like you it’s not every day. But looks swollen down there and is itchy on and off.

I’m pretty sure it’s just another delightful pregnancy symptom!

MF1981 · 10/07/2021 11:37

@Kiza yes I have this too. It’s not itchy very often but I do feel like down there is way more prominent than it usually is!

Kiza · 10/07/2021 21:25

Thanks ladies, spoke to my mum (a retired sexual health nurse) who confirmed it's not thrush (cos if so the anti fungal cream would've sorted it). She reckons clean with water after every wee, go commando as much as possible and an organic water based vaginal moisturiser on days when it's dry could help.
Also buy the biggest and loosest granny pants I can manage! 😆

MF1981 · 11/07/2021 08:54

@Kiza good tips thank you. I could only go commando at one point because it was so uncomfortable 🙈

Kiza · 11/07/2021 13:55

@MF1981 yeah and going commando wearing jeans or trousers would just feel weird!! Baggy hareem pants and loose dresses it is from now on! 😄

Mrsserenalewis · 13/07/2021 06:32

Got to love all these pregnancy symptoms. I hope your feeling more comfortable now.

Anyone else feel like the last week went so slowly xx

Aozora13 · 13/07/2021 22:24

Glad to hear everyone’s foofs are getting a good airing Grin

@Mrsserenalewis I think time is actually going backwards! I took this week off work to potty train my 2 year old and now my 4 year old’s bubble has burst so back to jolly old home schooling too. A magical family bonding experience it is not! Hope you’re doing ok.

Mrsserenalewis · 14/07/2021 06:44

They say when it rain it pours 🙈🙈
Hopefully your coping okay.

I’m okay counting the day until summer holidays. Just to get a little more sleep.

Not due my next midwife appointment until 34 week (16th aug)
The gap seems to long x

OP posts:
Kiza · 14/07/2021 08:16

Hahaha my foof is well and truly being aired this week- still feels big and swollen 🤦🏼‍♀️
Didn't feel little man move Monday morning (and he's a big strong kicker) so called and went in for monitoring. Sod's law he started having a party when hooked up to the machine, even though all looked great because I'm 40 I've got to have a scan tomorrow and go in each day for monitoring until then- thank God I'm off work this week!

@Aozora13 wow that's dedication to take a week off to dedicate to potty training! Is that what us FTM's need to expect? 😆

@Mrsserenalewis did you manage to find a belly support band?

Aozora13 · 14/07/2021 12:48

@Kiza that sounds a lot having to go in every day for monitoring! But better to err on the side of caution. I swear there’s something about the monitoring machine that babies can’t resist booting - I had the same w DD2. Hopefully not too stressful for you.

The potty training thing depends on your approach - we use the “oh crap” method where you basically ditch the nappies and have a week long boot camp! It worked well with DD1 but I was on mat leave w DD2 so didn’t take time off. I really hate potty training (there is wee everywhere!) but wanted to get it done before the baby comes to limit the number of nappies we’re dealing with!!

@Mrsserenalewis I’m not seeing the midwife til 34 weeks either - they just let you crack on after the first one, don’t they? This time it’s broken up a bit as I have a scan to check my placenta at 32 weeks (hoping it’s moved up) and a growth scan at 36 which apparently is now standard in my trust but I didn’t have in 2016 or 2018 with my others.

Monstermunch87 · 14/07/2021 14:33

I’m 28 weeks now but having to isolate so won’t see midwives until next week. I’m a secondary school teacher and last week was mental. 3 people in my department are off with Covid and most of the rest of us have been pinged to isolate so only 1 was in out of 10!

So relieved to be out of there now. Fingers crossed I get to Sunday without any issues and then I can rest a bit easier. It’s ridiculous that I’m in my third trimester and have had to get 2 pcr tests in the last 2 weeks

Sorry to hear lots of people are uncomfortable at the moment. I hope you feel better soon and manage to stay comfortable in the heat

Kiza · 15/07/2021 11:05

@Monstermunch87 must be so tough working in schools in these times. Not long to go for you before you get some time off.

Well ladies, looks like I may have a mahoosove baby growing inside me. 20 week scan showed 95th percentile and scan today (27 weeks) shows the same. Also found out today my partner was 11lb when he was born!!! His mum suffered greatly and was apparently told not to have any more children after him! Dear Lord- I'm now thinking elective c section! 😆

Oh my goodness 11lbs. Here I was worried that she said my baby will probably be the same as my daughter at 38 weeks (7.2lb) thinking if I go full term she’ll be around 8lb.
Hopefully that’ll hey are kind enough to induced you earlier 😬
Will they keep a close eye on baby weight in the coming weeks x
