Because the government is still issuing work from home advice and we are classed as clinically vulnerable from 28 weeks I cant stay at work in my role. I work in nhs with patient contact so I cannot keep more than 2 meters distance so they have to suspend me on full pay :) I have no work from home alternative

Aozora13 · 29/06/2021 18:43

@anniee8ava I’m quite jealous of you getting full pay for not working! I’m totally over work by now. Starting mat leave in early September but have holiday to use up so finishing 13 August, cannot wait!!

Does anyone have any advice for PGP/SPD? Didn’t have it in my previous pregnancies but I’m already hobbling round like an arthritic rhino at 27 weeks. Going to speak to the midwife at my next appointment but any tips much appreciated! Although hopefully none of you have it!

Kiza · 29/06/2021 19:56

@anniee8ava wow you're lucky. I also work in nhs and patient facing but was told the government website no longer issuing that therefore no shielding for me. Tbh I'm grateful as the idea of trying to do my role from home full time is a nightmare so I get to continue with flexi working until may leave 22nd sept.

@Mrsserenalewis yes I'm having to be tested for GD due to my dad being diabetic- praying it comes back fine! 🤞🏼 the drink we have to take sounds a bit rank! 😆🤢

anniee8ava · 29/06/2021 21:19

@kiza I would not be happy with that! With the cases of covid rising and last time I checked the government guidance they are not giving out a blanket self isolation anymore for pregnant women but it said if you cannot social distance at work from 28 weeks you should not be at work x

MrsTD88 · 29/06/2021 21:20

@Mrsserenalewis I'm having the Glucose Tolerance Test on Monday when I'll be 28 weeks followed by a growth scan. Never had one last time round so a bit apprehensive.

Kiza · 29/06/2021 21:54

@anniee8ava ahhh that makes sense, maybe it's because I can socially distance at work. I'm a psychotherapist within CAMHS so 50% of my caseload remains virtual but the high risk patients I only see in clinic (no home or school visits) as we can ensure better infection control
In clinic and can sit 2 meters away from them, with windows open and wipe down the room inbetween each patient.
@MrsTD88 let us know if the drink is really as bad as they say! 😄

MrsTD88 · 29/06/2021 22:12

@Kiza a few ladies on another group have said it tastes like melted calpol but I'll let yous know on Monday 😁

anniee8ava · 30/06/2021 22:01

Ah okay fair enough. Sadly I cannot social distance as I spend a lot of my shift in close proximity to people with hands on care lol.

I am very glad though, this pregnancy has killed me, everything hurts. I hope the last 3 months go quickly!

Moominmiss · 30/06/2021 22:15

@Mrsserenalewis I work in a school too. We also break up in 2 weeks for the holidays. But my maternity leave will officially start on 2nd September (when the new term starts). I’ll be 37+3. My c section will be scheduled for at least 39 weeks, possibly 38.

My dad is diabetic so I was sent for a fasting glucose test on Monday. I looked at the results yesterday on my nhs app and it showed my fasting level was 6.5. Anything over 6 is high. So I’m waiting to speak to the midwife tomorrow to see if they want me to do the full GTT with the 2 hour gap and drink etc. My appointment on Monday was meant to be that, but they’d forgotten to order the drink into the dispensary so instead just did the fasting test.

So at the moment I’m unsure whether I have GD or not. Praying I don’t but just want to know so I can start managing it properly.

Mrsserenalewis · 05/07/2021 18:31

Had my bloods today. Midwife this afternoon said my results are normal.

Baby still breech. Apparently sitting in a split position head up. She could feel a foot on each side.

Said my uterus is already near my rib cage no wonder I’m so breathless

28 weeks tomorrow

How are you all

What buggy system did you all go for x

Thought I would jump on im due October 23rd , pregnancy is really starting to go slow now!

Moominmiss · 05/07/2021 18:52

@Mrsserenalewis that’s great about blood results all being good.

I had confirmation last week that I do have Gestational diabetes. Picked up my blood sugar monitor on Friday although yet to use it as I’m awaiting my telephone appointments with the diabetic nurse and a dietician and have been told not to start testing until after that.

29 weeks today and feeling enormous and uncomfortable all the time.

As for travel system I’ve gone for a baby style Egg this time. I’ve had SO many different ones in my previous pregnancies. Bugaboo being my favourite, but wanted to try something new and love the look of it ☺️

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2021 19:21

@Mrsserenalewis glad all your results are good. Sorry to hear you're having to test @Moominmiss

I had my GTT this morning. My results have already been posted on my app and thankfully all normal.

Also had my first growth scan and baby is measuring perfectly and weighing roughly 2.6lb. She has long legs like her sister too. Back again in 4 weeks for another one. Time is going so fast now, 28 weeks today!

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2021 19:22

Congratulations @queenie273646 do you know if you're having a boy or girl?
Kiza · 05/07/2021 20:06

How did you ladies find the GD drink? As bad as some people make out? Did you also have to sit in the uncomfortable hospital chairs for 2 hours too?

Hope GD doesn't cause too many issues for you @Moominmiss

I'm 26 weeks and one of those days when the bump has gone super hard and tight, other days it's more comfortable and squishy. Assuming it's a growth spurt as seems waaaaay too early for Braxton Hicks.

@Mrsserenalewis I imagine there's still plenty of time for your little one to move to a better position but yes must be uncomfy!

Aozora13 · 05/07/2021 20:32

@Mrsserenalewis good news on the test results! Interesting about the baby’s position. I’ve been really breathless today and was starting to worry but maybe it’s just the baby squishing my lungs. Got my 28 week midwife appt tomorrow so will ask then.

Glad to hear your GD test was clear @MrsTD88 but sorry yours wasn’t @Moominmiss. Hope it doesn’t cause too many problems. Are you waiting for a test @Kiza? I’ve not had one in previous pregnancies and hoping I don’t have to this time - fasting and funky drinks does not sound v pregnancy friendly!

In answer to the travel system question, I have a Maxi Cosi Elea which is UGLY but does the job! Never gets much use though as I prefer the baby carrier. I really like the look of the Egg though.

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2021 20:47

@Kiza it was OK, mine was orange flavour. It was cold and in a pouch kind of like a capri sun. It tasted like flat lucozade. I just drank it quickly and was allowed water afterwards. Yeah had to sit in the hospital for 2 hours then I had lunch and had to wait around for my growth scan. I was hoping to get a walk outside but it was raining so just ended up sitting in the hospital reading.

@Aozora13 thank you 😊 I've been getting quite breathless too. My blood pressure was so high today too but after 5 minutes and taking my mask off it was perfect again. They didn't seem too worried and thought it was just a blip.

queenie273646 · 05/07/2021 21:14

@MrsTD88 I'm having a boy this time I already have a 5 year old girl so one of each ☺️ a little worried as I had a partially covered cervix (low lying posterior placenta) at my 20 week scan but hoping it's moved by 32 weeks! Hows your pregnancy been so far ?

Monstermunch87 · 05/07/2021 21:47

Hello. I seem to have fallen very behind in the conversation!
I’m a secondary school teacher and will be 28 weeks at the end of this week. My school are letting me work from home from next week which is a huge relief- I’m exhausted all ready I don’t know how teachers coped outside of COVID times! Because of this I have said I will work right up toy due date

The egg is very stylish. We are considering getting a cosatto wow 2, we really like the funky designs

I’m sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes. I hope it doesn’t effect everything too badly.

Ah lovely one of each! This is my first :)

I’m feeling pretty good (but tired) at the moment. My big issue though is that a few times I’ve felt what feel like more of a sudden gush down there and had to call the antenatal clinic in case my waters had broken. One time they told me to come in and the other they told me to wander around for a bit with a pad on and if it wasn’t damp at the end of that time it was probably fine. It didn’t seem damp but that has put me a bit of edge ever since. Has anyone else had this or is this just my wacky body?

anniee8ava · 05/07/2021 23:23

What number baby is it for you Kiza? I have been getting braxton hicks since around 18 weeks this time (3rd baby) they have been stronger and more frequent recently (not not labour).

I am also feeling so breathless, 27+2 baby is also moving so much more and he feels all over the place...

Glad to hear about the majority of the GTT tests being negative, I'm so glad I dont have to have one.

I cant be any help for a travel system I'm going to wait and see how this baby behaves as my youngest girl hated car seat and pram and we never used it! I have two slings already though:)

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2021 23:36

@queenie273646 aww that's lovely, my little girl is 5 too. Fingers crossed it has moved up by your next scan. It's been OK, the first trimester seems so long ago but glad the sickness has passed.

Mrsserenalewis · 06/07/2021 07:04

Welcome lovely

The last few have certainly dragged.

How you feeling x

OP posts:
Mrsserenalewis · 06/07/2021 07:33

@Moominmiss it’s good that they can catch it so early on. What does this mean for you. How often do you need to test.
I’ve gone for stokke this time as it’s the last one. I had a egg shape one last time. I love those ones. Went for greyish colour this time I think I went a bit over bored with the pink last time 🙈

@MrsTD88 that’s a good healthy weight. How you feeling. We are due date buddies.

@Kiza you’ll end up having braxton hicks more often. They can completely stop you in your tracks. The joys of your body preparing for labour. How you feeling

@Aozora13 which baby carrier would you recommend. It’s lovely having the baby so close

@Monstermunch87 it’s lovely they are letting you work from home. I’ve got 2ish weeks left then summers holidays. I go back for 2weeks afterwards but I will be just plodding about rather than stuck in one classroom.
I haven’t had that feeling yet. Pregnancy can be so strange. You may need to keep going with the pads.

Those with babies already. When did you go into labour with your last pregnancies
1st was 5 days late (8lbs)
2nd was induced 2 weeks early (7.5lbs)
3rd was induced 2 weeks early (7.2lbs)
I’m worried if I go full term she’ll be a big baby. Also my waters have never broken on thier own x
