Thought we could continue on here? Unless someone has made a different one.

Hello everyone, it's nice to see everyone's bumps and sharing symptoms.

Bad news at my NT scan this morning Sad Sad. The NT measurement was 6mm which is really high, so combined with my age they told me there's a 1 in 2 chance of trisomy 13/18. It's a real shock, as I've had no issues at all with this pregnancy, no bleeding, heartbeat and measurements seemed fine at early scans. I'm 41 though, so I always knew that would mean a higher risk. DH was thankfully able to be with me as it was an early private test - I can't imagine what it would have been like to receive bad news on my own. We haven't told any friends/family - I was always going to wait until 12 weeks (I'm 12+1).

I'm booked in for a CVS test next week, which will give a more accurate diagnosis. I've already had 2 Harmony blood tests, but both came back inconclusive. Now I just have to wait and see - everything seems suddenly up in the air.

Squibble84 · 03/03/2021 16:29

@duchessrose I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s such a tough time when everything is in limbo. Our first baby was diagnosed with T13 after the NT measuring 9mm and a cvs confirmed it. ARC are such a good supportive charity to ring if you need practical advice and the ladies there are all lovely - most have been through it themselves. I’ll try post a link to them here - www.arc-uk.org/

Also feel free to DM me if you want to chat! I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and keeping everything crossed for you! Xxx

Squibble84 · 03/03/2021 16:30

Also my current pregnancy has come back medium risk for T13/18 so I had the nipt done today and waiting on results hopefully next week.

Kirky658 · 03/03/2021 17:22

Hey ladies, thanks for all your support earlier. Good news is little bub was very wriggly and very healthy measuring at 12 weeks today exactly so slightly further ahead! NT measurement was 1.4mm so looks OK, had the bloods done too.

MrsTD88 · 03/03/2021 17:26

@Kirky658 aww that's a great photo! Congratulations 🥰

Squibble84 · 03/03/2021 17:31

@Kirky658 that’s fab news and what a gorgeous scan picture! 🥰 it’s lovely when they’re wriggly! You can relax now and hopefully get a good night’s sleep tonight!

I hope everyone else who had scan today had a good one and lovely to see the bump pics! X

Bubbles1st · 03/03/2021 17:34

@duchessrose sorry to hear about your unsettling scan today, so pleased your DH was there with you.

I'm sure this next week will feel very long whilst you wait for the cvs, I have everything crossed for you that the 1 in 2 chance results in a healthy baby for you. Lots of love.

MrsMcNtobe · 03/03/2021 17:37

I’m unsure if this is nationwide or just Scotland that does these big books, I got it at my booking appointment and every once in a while I’ll have a quick glance, I noticed today there was a section about when to get medical assistance and it says discharge.... I thought discharge was completely normal unless an odd colour/bloody?

duchessrose sorry the outcome of your scan wasn’t as positive as you would have hopper. I know this week will seem very long, but I have everything crossed for good news from the CVS test.

Kirky658 congratulations, and what a fabulous photo.

MrsMcNtobe I’ve not seen the booklet, but would assume you are right. When My Gp was assessing my UTI symptoms last week she asked if I had discharge and I said that I had more than usual, and she confirmed that as long as it was white/ clear and don’t smell offensive, it was completely normal for pregnancy.

duchessrose · 03/03/2021 18:18

Thanks for the messages @Bubbles1st and @Equimum and the link @Squibble84 - it was really helpful. I'm doing far too much Googling and reading research articles beyond my understanding - I can see myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole over the next week. I hope your NIPT results come back OK.

Lovely photo @Kirky658 and glad your measurements are good.

Mamabearwhere · 03/03/2021 18:39

@duchessrose oh I’m so sorry you didn’t get more positive news at your scan today. Fingers crossed for you for the coming week.

@Kirky658 aw what a lovely photo, so pleased for you.

@MrsMcNtobe that’s strange and I haven’t heard that before. I wonder if it means towards the latter part of the pregnancy when it could be mistaken for leaking waters. But it’s definitely unclear and seems quite anxiety inducing. Have always had normal amount of discharge throughout my pregnancies which I’ve thought as normal.

CobleCloud · 03/03/2021 18:54

@duchessrose sorry you didn't get such positive news you were hoping for today. Got everything crossed for next week.

@Kirky658 glad everything went well, great pic and glad the measurements went your way! Smile

Hopefulmummie · 03/03/2021 19:08

Hey everyone it's hard to keep up with this thread now so many messages. I've took a promotion at work so extra busy this week too.
Hope everyone is ok

I have my 12 week scan in the morning and I'm so nervous just want everything to be OK. I had a midwife ring me earlier to go through a few things she was lovely.

MrsMcNtobe · 03/03/2021 19:51

@Equimum @Mamabearwhere I will ask midwife next time I speak to her but (sorry for TMI) but my discharge has really been the same as normal changing consistency, haven’t noticed a change in the amount either! Maybe its if you’re further on or if anything seems unusual they ask you to seek help

2021mumma · 03/03/2021 22:41

So many scans today! I also had my scan today measuring 13+4 I told the sonographer we knew it was a boy already and she said well if you didn’t already know you can see here he is! It was there in all its glory 🤣 baby all healthy and due to harmony not having any further bloods and NT 1.2. Haven’t told anyone yet I’m pregnant so we will do that now all seems well but dreading telling work was on call with my boss today talking about the year ahead 😬

Kirky658 · 04/03/2021 06:28

@2021mumma brilliant! I'm telling my boss today, now I'm officially 12 weeks, eep

2021mumma · 04/03/2021 06:51

@Kirky658 good luck telling them today! Hope it goes well. I should have done it last night but was a chicken! Xx

unicornpower · 04/03/2021 07:55

@duchessrose sorry you had unsettling news, that must have been awful for you, I really hope the CVS comes back and all is okay for you! Keeping everything crossed xxxx

@Hopefulmummie good luck for today! Hopefully it's a nice early scan so you haven't got to hang around all day waiting! Thinking of you!

Congratulations to all the others that had scans yesterday, feels very real now everyone's reaching that milestone!

Thanks for all the bra recommendations, I really like Freya bras already @FTEngineerM so that one will def be on my list! My mum recommended M&S bras in general too so as soon as we can try things on im going to go and have a mooch!

Equimum · 04/03/2021 08:04

On the bra front, unless you are comfortable spending a fortune, it might be worth buying cheaper ones to start with as you may find your breast size fluctuates quite a bit (Mine certainly grew again during previous pregnancy, got enormous for a few weeks after birth, then settled down. I got through quite a few sizes!).

Kirky658 good luck telling your boss today.

It’s an hour and a half until my scan. Have hardly slept but keeping everything. Crossed. I believe there are quite a few people with scans today, so good luck everyone!

Hopefulmummie · 04/03/2021 08:10

@unicornpower thank you. Its at 11 so not too bad though I've been awake since the crack of dawn lol

Good luck to everyone having scans today

leftitlate37 · 04/03/2021 08:19

good luck this morn @Equimum and @Hopefulmummie!
SOrry to hear about your scan @duchessrose - will keep everything crossed for you, must b a stressful tim but glad you had your partner with you.
Congrats @Kirky658 and @2021mumma on yours! I told my boss this week, was happy for us and hed been really supportive when we had a MMC last year so wasn't too hard for me to say anything really. wont be telling anyone else at work yet a while i dont think.
good luck for everyone else with scans etc! got my 16wk appt thru, seems so soon, eeeeek!

Rach921 · 04/03/2021 09:28

@duchessrose sorry about your scan. Keeping everything crossed for you for the CVS x

@Hopefulmummie @Equimum good luck with your scans today! Keep us updated

Hope everyone is ok today. Glad the scans went well @Kirky658 and @2021mumma! Hope it goes ok telling work. I ended up having to tell mine earlier as I was so poorly and not performing - very target/numbers driven job so the slightest dip is picked up. They were great, but 2 of my colleagues are also pregnant so I think they’re panicking a bit as we aren’t a big company!

My scan is next Friday. Had my booking appointment on Tuesday so it’s starting to feel a bit more real now x

MrsMcNtobe · 04/03/2021 10:13

Good luck with scans today everyone!

Kirky658 · 04/03/2021 10:28

Good luck with scans today everyone ❤️
So I'm now 12 weeks and I've just been sick for the first time, wtf 🤣

AdventuresAwait · 04/03/2021 10:52

@Kirky658, I had the same thing! Was nauseous before but when I hit 12 weeks, I was actually sick Smile.

I'm getting confused with threads and not sure which I was originally on but I recognise a lot of usernames on here, so going to try to be more active and stay in touch now!

I'm 13 weeks today. Had my 12 week scan (didn't have screening) and feel like it's a long wait until my 20 week scan, which is at 21 weeks! I've booked a private scan for 17 weeks to see if we can find out whether we're having a boy or girl. Can't wait! Will be counting down the days.

Going to read back and catch up on the thread. All the best for those having scans today or in the next few days xx
