@Raem1
I had 12 week scan yesterday and we didnt hear the heart beat, she didnt even mention it and i dont know but we didnt ask. I could see it though and on the paperwork it says there was a heartbeat present. I know the 20 week scan is the anomaly scan where they do check these things as by they its much clearer.

reference food i am eating either toast or chocolate porridge for breakfast and some fruit or biscuits/cereal bar.

Lunch is either sandwich or soup and toast.

Tea can vary so much depending on appetite, however its been a lots of carbs, either wraps/sandwiches. Sausage and mash with veg, fish and rice, quite plain pasta.

I am always eat something sweet, that why my bmi is high no doubt no so change for me. yoghurts, ice cream, sweets, chocolate,. I'm more sweet that savoury, however i do still east nuts and crisps.

Squibble84 · 03/03/2021 09:23

Definitely got a bump! It’s come out so much earlier than last time!

I found the most comfortable bras last time were M&S bras. I went and got measured so I had some that had a proper fit!

That’s a gorgeous bump Squibble84. I just have the same flabby tummy as I have had ever since having DS2! My friend is about ten weeks and similar to you.

I have gone from not eating much at all, to be starving all the time. Yesterday, I ate two hot-cross buns and a decaf latte for breakfast, then a two small bags of Wotsits late morning. I had bean chilli and yoghurt for lunch, followed by a banana and some breadsticks in the afternoon. I then had two bowls of Thai noodle soup for dinner, and a slice of toast before bed. This is way up on what I would normally eat, but I guess what I need at the moment.

Whoever it was that said they were doing so much exercise - what you are eating sounds absolutely normal.

FTEngineerM · 03/03/2021 09:32

Good luck for the scans today, fingers crossed they go well.

@Squibble84 deffo a bump!

@unicornpower yes!! I noticed this morning when led down flat that they’ve popped out of my pelvis and can feel them just under my belly button now. Crazy. Feels real.

unicornpower · 03/03/2021 09:46

@Squibble84 ahhhh thats definitely a bump!

@FTEngineerM it's so crazy isn't it! I have been bloated since day one bit it definitely feels like it's popping a bit- like you say it makes it all feel real

bewitchingnight · 03/03/2021 09:51

Lovely bump @Squibble84 !
I had a bit of a belly anyway and feel definitely chubbier. No bump yet though I just think I look fatter...! I had to order two new bras from m&s because my normal ones had turned into tiny torture devices.

Eating wise probably more than normal in that I seem to need a snack mid morning and mid afternoon. I'm pretty nauseous in the evenings but managing to have more normal sized meals and even some veg every once and a while. I'm impressed with how much exercise some people are doing! I'm trying to do a YouTube video every other day (ish) and go for a walk every day. I'm looking forward to swimming pools opening, always used to like swimming and keep hearing what good pregnancy exercise it is.

Good luck for the scans today! Mine is tomorrow I feel sick about it!

FTEngineerM · 03/03/2021 09:54

Oh god, also I keep feeling incredibly sick in the evenings. Actually gagging now at really minor things like changing nappies 😬

I’ve been reading that you have more hormones if they’re a girl, I do hope this doesn’t last?! And mums of girls and boys confirm or deny 🥺?

@bewitchingnight ooooo swimming sounds so great right now. I’m hoping they open the outdoor pool in our town after lockdown evening swims are sooo good, and you’re weightless so great later on.

FTEngineerM I don’t know what this one is, but I wasn’t too bad with my first, but could barely stand up in the early weeks with my second. Everyone said it was because the second was clearly a girl, but no, they are both boys! Will be interesting to see what this one is - I think it’ll be another boy, but clearly, for me, the level of nausea Ian my overly indicative.

Equimum · 03/03/2021 10:08

*isn’t

Kirky658 · 03/03/2021 10:10

@squibble84 that's a gorgeous bump ❤️

I'm deffo getting a bit of a bump, usually have a very flat tummy due to all the exercise I do ( very fortunate) now there's definitely a small bump starting to protrude haha!

On bras - I got my DH to measure me up, I'd gone from a 32B to 32C so just ordered some maternity bras from asda. 2 for 15 quid and so comfy.

Thanks for all the food input ladies! Nice to know I'm not the only one snacking away lol xx

Poppins2016 · 03/03/2021 10:21

I've also got a bump!

I'm about 13 weeks pregnant now, but I look the same as I did in my last pregnancy at 15 weeks... really intrigued to see what happens later in pregnancy, my fundal height was consistently 10 weeks behind with my DS, I wonder whether it'll be more in line with standard expectations this time due to the pre-stretched muscles!

I'm getting a bit apprehensive about a consultant appointment next week, the midwife referred me as I'm asthmatic and use steroid inhalers to keep it under control (this wasn't even an issue last pregnancy!) plus my DS was a low birth weight (but healthy) when he was born.

Apparently if this baby looks to be low weight I'll need extra monitoring during pregnancy (extra scans - fine - had those last time due to low fundal height measurement) and extra monitoring during labour (not so sure about that) due to new guidelines. I'm apprehensive about the idea of 'over medicalising' labour when DS was fine and it's quite likely I just make small babies (as the midwife put it)! My instinct for labour last time was very "hands off" and I was pretty much left alone in the birthing pool to let my body get on with it, I felt as though my fantastic midwife was there 'just in case' rather than because she was 'needed' and she just kept quiet in the background. I don't like being poked and prodded, so I'm hoping for the same low stress approach again...

I can't believe I'm currently so stressed about labour even though I'm only a third of the way through this pregnancy! I hope the consultant can ease my concern... eek!

Ha! It’s all wives tales then, never mind🤭.

I don’t mind either way but I’m definitely excited to find out. Wishing the next few weeks away though so I can live without feeling sickGrin

FTEngineerM · 03/03/2021 10:46

@Poppins2016 I think it’s normal to be worried about birth, it’s a really big event for you and your body at the end of the day.

I was hoping to be left alone last time but it didn’t work like that, speaking to the midwife apparently it’s ‘easier’ on the second because your body ha done it before. I have everything crossed that that’s true.

Hi @Raem1, I had my 12 week scan on Monday and was also surprised not to hear the heartbeat. She pointed to it and I could see it but didn't hear it all all...

Maybebaby29 · 03/03/2021 10:50

You guys are making me feel awful for the lack of fruit I’m eating 🤣🙈 you all seem to have quite balanced meals! I normally feel sick as soon as I get up in the morning so I usually just grab the quickest thing to get rid of the nausea (today was coco pops 🙈) yesterday for lunch I had a couple of mini birds cobs with chicken in, I don’t normally eat lunch so I’m kind of forcing myself to eat it. For tea I just don’t have much of an appetite at all. I made a huge Sunday dinner last week, everything home made, slow cooked my lamb for like 5 hours and I barely touched it, I can’t eat nearly half as much as I use to! I’ve decided I need to start eating quite a few smaller meals but healthy ones during the day. Although I’m back at work next week and I don’t normally have time for lunch. What have you ladies been having for evening meals? I’ve completely gone off cooking at the moment.

MrsTD88 · 03/03/2021 10:50

@Raem1 I'm sure the midwife looks for it with the doppler at the 16 week appointment.

Maybebaby29 · 03/03/2021 10:52

In regards to maternity bras I’ve never had any in any of my pregnancies for some reason, my boobs kind of look fuller but they don’t seem to be getting bigger if that makes sense. I’m already at 34GG-H I don’t think I couldn’t cope with them being much bigger 🙈 although I got a really nice “comfy home bra” from Sainsbury’s yesterday no underwire or anything which I normally burn that fits really well and is quite supportive it was only £9

KHR1 · 03/03/2021 11:14

@Squibble84 lovely bump!

I have a high bmi so worried I just look like I've been overeating over lockdown rather than pregnant. I feel like I can see a change in it but not sure if it's just bloat... My jeans and tops have been pretty tight for about 4-5 weeks.

@Maybebaby29 I'm the same with grabbing the first thing I can find in a morning.
I wretch pretty badly in a morning until I eat something. My snacking has definitely got worse, I find it so much easier to graze throughout the day than eat big meals but definitely need to start making the snack a bit healthier...
I've found good maternity bras really hard to find, last time I got asda nursing ones so they weren't underwired but they weren't great.

Maybebaby29 · 03/03/2021 11:24

@KHR1 you sound like me, I’m the same, I like grazing but no full on meals or anything too filling. On the days I have a bit more energy il have to start prepping like little salads and things I can just go on the fridge and grab. Luckily I haven’t put any weight on yet but I can imagine it won’t be long before I do! It’s hard especially when you don’t fancy really eating anything.
Anyone with other children, when do you plan on telling them about baby?

Gadea · 03/03/2021 11:25

Good luck to everyone that has scans today!

@Squibble84 wow that's a nice looking bump 😊

@bewitchingnight my scan is also tomorrow! I'll be 13 weeks and literally can't wait, the last couple of days have felt like the longest of my life! What time is your scan?

FTEngineerM · 03/03/2021 11:27

@Maybebaby29 ours is almost 9m so other than trying to eat the scan pictures he hasn’t got a clue what’s going on. How old are yours?

OP posts:
Mamabearwhere · 03/03/2021 11:27

There’s no hiding my bump anymore! Mine popped from about 9 and a half weeks. I’m almost 11 weeks now. Even my 4 year old asked me why my tummy was so fat this morning haha! My kids don’t know yet as waiting for my scan before I tell them 🙈

September 2021 thread 2🥳
FTEngineerM · 03/03/2021 11:29

Also from maternity bra point of view, this is a cracker: www.next.co.uk/style/st180146/150497 it has underwire though so obvs avoid if you don’t want an underwire.

OP posts:
Maybebaby29 · 03/03/2021 11:36

@FTEngineerM haha aww bless! That’s a nice age gap between them! Mine at 8 & 5. My 8 year old is a bit suspicious because my tummy is looking rounder! Also she keeps listening to bits of mine on hubby’s conversations about baby when we think they are out of ear shot so she knows we are talking about babies. She knows we have been ttc for a while she’s constantly asking for another baby brother or sister. I’m just nervous if anything goes wrong she will be devastated. We have had a private scan last weekend baby was 11+6, my nhs one is next week I will be 13 + 3. I’m just slightly worried if the bleed around baby hasn’t gone it might have consequences, but I suppose things can happen anytime.
@Mamabearwhere deffo a cute bump there 😍 I’ve just had some H&M maternity jeans come I’ve not tried them on yet tho but part of me feels like I’m tempting fate ordering some 😩

MrsMcNtobe · 03/03/2021 11:43

@Kirky658 my eating is really out of sorts for me, I’m usually a BIG eater and snacker but the last 3/4 weeks I get hungry in the morning then super hungry around 2/3pm and that’s me for the rest of the day. I have to force myself to pick at things. Also not in the mood for chocolate or crisps or even takeaway.. it’s so odd how we’re all different
