Really the first trimester! Well I’m 13 weeks today so I’m officially in the 2nd trimester now! I’m a back or front sleeper, got really bad hip pain last time sleeping on my side 😩

Squibble84 · 28/02/2021 14:10

www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/sleep-side/sleep-position-pregnancy-qa

Just found this link so think I’m ok for a while longer! Phew! 😅

Bubbles1st · 28/02/2021 14:14

That's good, then it's such a minefield with differing advice online. You might fine it becomes more uncomfortable as baby gets bigger and puts pressure on you on your back so a transition is easier for you.

My hips are painful already some nights. I have a huge teddy and wondering if he could act as a pregnancy pillow for a bit Grin

Marshmallow123 · 28/02/2021 14:18

@bluemagicalsky my EDD is 17th September and I’ve got my scan on 8th March so v similar dates! Hope you’re doing well.

@Squibble84 I literally googled this yesterday. Apparently 1st trimester we can sleep however we want. 2nd onwards they say it’ll probably not be comfortable on your front and advise on the side (ideally left)...at least this is the info I found!

@RadDarwazeh love that your scan is on Mother’s Day!

Marshmallow123 · 28/02/2021 14:23

@Squibble84 thanks for sharing the link, v helpful x

bluemagicalsky · 28/02/2021 15:43

Thanks @Marshmallow123 I'm looking forward to scan date, haven't had any yet and just decided to hold out for the NHS one. Hope you're doing well too, not long now!

Mamabearwhere · 28/02/2021 17:14

@Poppysmile I am really glad to hear that some of you have less sickness as you get closer to 11 weeks. I’m am clinging on to that hope as I have really bad sickness

2021mumma · 28/02/2021 19:12

Hope you are all well! I’m 13 weeks and still suffering with sickness and on anti sickness meds. I had two good days last week and thought it was subsiding and it came back. I was sick till 16 weeks last time so roll on the next 3 weeks would love to feel normal.

unicornpower · 28/02/2021 19:38

@2021mumma don't listen to my bragging above lol my sickness came back this evening after feeling lovely all day 🙈 I at least had a slice of cake today which I've been hankering after for weeks so I'm taking solace in that. What meds are you on? Sickness is just torture isnt it, you always feel so jaded and not yourself xxx

Squibble84 · 28/02/2021 19:39

@Bubbles1st a Teddy might do the job - no harm trying! 😂

@Marshmallow123 sleep was my biggest issue last time - I just could not get comfortable! I’ve seen these polo shaped pillows you can get so you can front sleep for longer and your bump sits in the hole! I’m very tempted! 😆

@2021mumma sorry to hear you’ve still got sickness - do the meds help? I’m still feeling really rough with nausea too and I’m 13 weeks - with DD1, I was similar and it didn’t go away until about 17 weeks - that’s what I’m holding out hope for this time! I’m still breastfeeding though and apparently that can make it worse!

2021mumma · 28/02/2021 19:48

@unicornpower oh no! Well at least you got that cake! I’m taking cyclizine and promethazine. I’m also having acupuncture as it really helped last time.

@Squibble84 yes I think they are helping, I didn’t have any with my daughter and I was sick for whole 9 months it was awful and last pregnancy I had the same meds and lasted (son) 16 weeks. You are a trouper breastfeeding throughout this too. I gave up in September before we started TTC again for this one. I am never doing this again and if I have csection im going to request to be sterilised

unicornpower · 28/02/2021 20:19

@2021mumma do you find cyclizine helps? I'm on cyclizine and prochlerperazine (thats probably spelt wrong) but when i was admitted to hospital with hyperemisis they insisted on giving me cyclizine, even though I told them it wasn't working! They eventually gave me prochlerperazine which worked. It was only after numerous sick bowls that they changed my drip, seems like they really don't like going to the 2nd tier drugs for it. I hope you start feeling better soon, it really is flipping miserable and I fully sympathise with you x

FTEngineerM · 28/02/2021 20:57

Still nauseous as hell too, it went away and now every evening it’s back with vengeance. Do the anti sickness meds have any other side effect or is it just plain sailing after you take them?

@Squibble84 good on you for persevering, I stopped BFing 4 weeks ago yesterday because the nip sensation was horrific😬 I don’t know why I didn’t think of that when we were TTC😂. I hope nausea doesn’t last too much longer for you.

2021mumma · 28/02/2021 20:58

@unicornpower it wasn’t working when I was only put on them it was when I was prescribed the promethazine the combination is better but not great. Am tempted to go back to gp and ask for something else but I keep hoping I only have 3 weeks to go. It’s the worst isn’t it I’m currently feeling ready to throw up the only time I don’t feel like this is when I’m asleep. Awful you were admitted to hospital hope you are ok x

Mamabearwhere · 28/02/2021 21:16

@2021mumma ah that sounds rough being sickness the whole pregnancy with your daughter. Glad the meds are helping you. I was on cyclizine got a few weeks but they did nothing but make me more sleepy and fatigued so I stopped them. Got prescribed xonvea but loads of people recommended not taking them because it’s so new and strong etc so I chickened out.

I was also thinking of getting sterilised as will def not be doing this again as much as I wanted to have 4 kids but the nausea is enough to put me off pregnancy again. Although I think after labouring 3 kids and going through the pregnancies, it’s DH who should take one for the team and get the snip Wink

Bubbles1st · 01/03/2021 08:11

12 weeks today, scan tomorrow, was getting nervous due to minimal symptoms and finding it a bit difficult to believe im that lucky - when in everything else I certainly am not.

Then last night, like a little sign sent from within a hemmorhoid appeared - how incredibly lucky 🤣

Fingers crossed tomorrow is all good and I can get this pile gone and hold off any more!!

unicornpower · 01/03/2021 08:16

@FTEngineerM cyclizine definitely makes me more tired but other than that I havent noticed any side effects, I still didn't feel well on them though and was still vomiting most days but taken as a combination with another one they do help! I hope you start feeling better soon, I hope it doesn't last much past 12w haha

@2021mumma I really hope it starts clearing up for you soon you poor thing! Definitely see if you could get something new? You don't want to suffer all your pregnancy x

Squibble84 · 01/03/2021 08:49

@2021mumma @FTEngineerM I am SO ready to finish breastfeeding but my daughter is still so obsessed with the boob, I try and distract her but nothing works! 😭 I only planned on feeding to 1 year and she’s 17 months now 😅

I’m also thinking if I have to have a csection again, I’m going to get sterilised, I’m definitely done after this one!!

@Bubbles1st good luck for your scan tomorrow!!

Equimum · 01/03/2021 08:59

Bubbles1st good luck with your scan

Squibble84 I really feel for you. I was still feeding our first when I got pregnant with our second and I really struggled.

Mamabearwhere my DH has already asked the doctor what he needs to do in order to the have the snip after this one (hopefully) arrives. Would yours consider it?

Mamabearwhere · 01/03/2021 09:06

@Equimum we’ve never talked about it but he’s extremely squeamish, nearly fainted getting a Covid test. He doesn’t take any medical procedures well so I really don’t think he’ll be buzzing at the idea. I was doing some reading on it last night and I think the discussions with a doc would put him off but if he was to walk into hospital, get it done and leave without a word he’d be fine. But not if they have to have pre op detailed talks of what happens, side effects etc etc.

Kirky658 · 01/03/2021 09:57

Morning lovely ladies, hope everyone is OK!
I am starting to get very nervy now, scan is on Wednesday at 11+4...

Also has anyone else had a letter from their local antenatal clinic at the local hospital? I've had one through for 23 weeks but no reason to say what for, my mum thinks it is consultant led but I'm wondering if it's because my mum had severe pre eclampsia and they wanna keep an eye on me....

bewitchingnight · 01/03/2021 10:15

I had an unexpected letter /appointment last week at 11 weeks which turned out to be a consultant one. I rang the department to find out what it was for as I wanted to be prepared.

Good luck for Wednesday! Mine is on Thursday, I'll be 12+6 and I'm so nervous!

Squibble84 · 01/03/2021 10:17

@Kirky658 good luck for the scan! If you’ve had a letter, it’s probably due to something that cropped up in your booking appointment. I’ve had a letter through, it doesn’t say what it’s about but I’m assuming it’s because I said I want a Vbac (vaginal birth after caesarean) and that has to be approved by a consultant. Is this your first?

Kirky658 · 01/03/2021 10:32

@bewitchingnight do you know what yours was for now then? I never thought to phone lol I'll do that later on.

@squibble84 that's what I'm thinking, yep my first so completely clueless with all this lol

Squibble84 · 01/03/2021 10:35

@Kirky658 it would be helpful if they just said what it was about in the letter! No one wants to turn up at an appointment where they have no clue what it’s going to be about! 😅
