@Bubbles1st gosh that sounds so stressful, all that jabbing and poking. One good thing it’s bloody over now woohoo.

Hope your Tuesday scan goes ok👌 . I’m usually fine but they took blood for all sorts of stuff because I just said yes to everything and they have new GD test where they do one now and one fasted at 28 weeks and I looked down in the tray and there were so many vials of blood I nearly fainted. So grim

Has anyone told their employers yet?? I’m 13+4 and still haven’t told them and I keep getting so worried about it.
I work in a school so feel like I need to mention it soon but I’ve only been there 9 months so feel awful leaving them in the shit Blush

unicornpower · 26/02/2021 15:47

Hey ladies,

Baby is absolutely fine and was wriggling away and moving about lots and its grown so much since I last saw it. I'm so so so relieved that it's okay, I nearly cried when the sonographer told us! I need to just relax and enjoy my symptom free time as much as possible! Thank you so much for all your good wishes, it really did help me xx

I'm so glad everyone has had good scans too, it's just magical isn't it when you see them all snuggled up.

@Bubbles1st oh no that sounds so stressful you poor thing, I hope you're relaxing now!

@Squibble84 how long has it been? Hopefully it's not too much longer for you and its good news! Is that the test you have at the 12w scan or did you have a private one?

@darklava09 I told my boss but only because I was so ill with the sickness and I knew he'd be really supportive as he was ace when we had a MC last year so I didn't want to lie about why I was off, he hasn't told anyone else though and it's unofficial until the 12w scan if that makes sense? I dont think you legally have to say anything until 24 weeks is it? But they may need to do a risk assessment for you etc so may be worth thinking about. I know what you mean about feeling guilty but honestly I'm sure they'll be okay xx

Squibble84 · 26/02/2021 15:50

@Darklava09 I also work in a school and I’ve told my head already but with DD1 I didn’t tell her until I was 18 weeks. Definitely don’t feel guilty, employers have to expect that if they employ women of child-bearing age, that there’s a big possibility they’ll have babies! Maybe tell them sooner rather than later though if you’re worried as then it will be a weight off your mind and you’ll have given them lots of notice!

Squibble84 · 26/02/2021 15:58

@unicornpower that’s great news about the scan! Hopefully you can relax now!

It’s been 3 days since they sent the bloods off to be tested. It’s the one done with the 12 week scan - if it comes back high risk, I have the option of taking the harmony through the nhs or a cvs/amniocentesis. I’m trying to be relaxed about it but with a tfmr and a mc under my belt, it’s not easy!

2021mumma · 26/02/2021 16:00

@Squibble84 I had harmony test 2 weeks ago and got my results this week (took a week for results) I did it with last pregnancy too.

Marshmallow123 · 26/02/2021 16:00

Hello! Hoping I can join this conversation? I’m 11w today and due 17th September. Hoping to find other mums to be due in September! X

bewitchingnight · 26/02/2021 16:11

Great news on today's scans! And Happy Birthday @Kirky658 Cake

I'm with you @Bubbles1st blood tests are awful and my body was not cooperative. Hope you've been taking it easy this afternoon. My midwife said the same as yours that it should get easier the further along we get, she also said to drink loads of water beforehand and also that a glass of milk helps. She said a scientific reason why milk in particular but I was a bit wobbly so I can't remember what it was!

primhutch · 26/02/2021 16:42

Hi Everyone,

Is it just me or is it impossible to keep up with these threads?! I feel like some of you follow it so well and really get to know each other and I just don't have a clue haha.

I'm still just in the September club, had my 12 week scan on Wednesday and I was a bit further ahead than expected and exactly 13 weeks which put my due date as 1st of September.

Unfortunately been suffering with HG and not got to enjoy pregnancy yet but stocked up on antisickness tablets and hoping it will pass soon.

Read an article today about gender reveals now being transphobic! Not sure how I feel about that but is anyone planning on doing anything nice for a gender reveal? Feels a lifetime away I know! X

Darklava09 · 26/02/2021 17:00

@Squibble84 I know and most of our school are young and they always employ young NQT’s ect.

I guess because I’m newly senior management I feel more like guilt about it as I’m not that easy to cover and have a specific role but. I will work my way up to it Grin how was your headteacher?

Babynum1 · 26/02/2021 17:40

@FTEngineerM congratulations on the scan! It’s wonderful isn’t it? So pleased it went well for you ☺️

@unicornpower so pleased that your scan also went well! X

@Kirky658 happy birthday!! X

Bubbles1st · 26/02/2021 17:44

Pleased to read those who had scans went well. Still nervous about mine on Tuesday!

I am feeling much better about my ordeal today, I know it probably wasn't that big a deal in hindsight but pregnancy does strange things to your emotions!

I will remember the milk for next time but it wouldn't have been possible today as I had to fast since last night. Hand warmers and water next time though for sure too.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I'm working all day tomorrow - boo.

However least it will be quicker than just a lounge day!

FTEngineerM · 26/02/2021 17:50

@Babynum1 yes! A huge relief, I was laughing a little because they kept moving and making the measurements hard for the sonographer to take.

I’m already finding myself trying to figure out the gender already😂, I have no self control. Lots have said girlie shown the picture too. It’s soooooo cool you get the gender with the Harmony testing, is everyone finding out or not bothering?

@primhutch no need to keep up with the thread😀 they’re just here for support if/when you need them aren’t they.

@2021mumma depending on the results, I’ll go harmony before a cvs but I had a bad experience with the company I had a harmony with last time and there’s nowhere else close by doing it due to covid!

@Marshmallow123 welcome! How are you feeling?

@primhutch glad your scan went well - sorry about the sickness, hopefully the tablets help!

@Darklava09 the teacher guilt is always there isn’t it! 🙈 my head is never best pleased when someone announces they’re pregnancy- you never get a congrats - she just wanted to know when my mat leave would start! 🤷‍♀️

We found out the gender with DD1 but we’re going team yellow with this one and won’t be finding out (unless I cave at the 20 week scan! 😂)

Marshmallow123 · 26/02/2021 18:19

@Squibble84 thanks!

I’m feeling ok thanks, nausea on and off but generally ok which is a relief. Had a MMC in September so have been rather anxious about everything.

How about you?

Saw you mentioned Harmony test, had mine done on Wednesday so just waiting for those results now! Fingers crossed all is ok!

I’m also a teacher! There seem to be a few of us!

Gadea · 26/02/2021 18:22

@FTEngineerM We will be finding out the sex, I can't wait!
Two friends of mine are pregnant and both were told the sex of the baby in their 12 week scan!!

CherylLW · 26/02/2021 19:02

@unicornpower I’m so happy for you! Feels so nice being able to relax knowing all is fine doesn’t it!!

Noodles4Me · 26/02/2021 19:07

Glad everyone is doing okay.

Got my NHS screening result which came back low risk so I imagine harmony will be same. I'll find out the sex though. No gender reveal stuff, don't like all that personally.

Struggling to get married before birth, everywhere is prioritising those cancelled during lockdown...even though we want May and still restricted Sad

leftitlate37 · 26/02/2021 19:10

great news @unicornpower! you must be so relieved! easier said than done but hope u can manage not to stress until 12 week scan!
Glad yours went well @FTEngineerM :) such a good pic!
thankfully all fine with ours today, took a bit of time to get measurements as wasn't in right place - so strange to see them moving when u cant feel it at all! it was doing a headstand at one point?! both proper relieved and feels bit more real now. had a lovely student midwife who was ace and had a much better blood taking experience than booking appt!!! apparently poss got a UTI which might explain why back aches today and felt some lower abdo pain but just thought it was normal...so need to wait for confirmation and see what to do.
glad all the scans have gone well!

Squibble84 · 26/02/2021 19:26

@Marshmallow123 so sorry to hear about your mmc! It does make pregnancy afterwards that much more of an anxious time! Have you had an early scan? My sickness was pretty bad but it seems to be getting a bit better! 🤞

@Noodles4Me that’s great that your nhs screening result came back low risk! Hope you manage to get your wedding booked in before the baby comes (although if you don’t, you’ll have the cutest flower boy/girl ever! 🥰 )

@leftitlate37 that’s great your scan went well! How could they tell about the uti? From your urine sample? I’ve had lower back and abdominal pain - very mild, almost like mild period pain on and off for weeks and have just assumed it was things expanding!

FTEngineerM · 26/02/2021 19:30

@Noodles4Me I feel your wedding pain, we were set to get married next month and had to move it to next Feb Sad

I hope you get something sorted, the roadmap thing said weddings should be opening back up I can’t remember the date though.

@leftitlate37 glad the scan went well, did they give you antibiotics or anything?

OP posts:
leftitlate37 · 26/02/2021 19:35

hey @Squibble84, thank you! Yes it was from a urine sample. never had a UTI before but rang GP a couple weeks ago as felt i might have one as kept needing a wee but barely a drop came out, but they said was fine. then today it's happened againbut put it down to nerves, and i often have a bad back so figured maybe with ligaments and stuff it might be normal?! they were sending off for confirmation so will keep u posted. they did say symptoms can be different in pregnancy so might be worth getting checked out? i literally felt mild period painy today and was so terrifed it was gonna be bad news at the scan - as it was diff to the slight tightness had been feeling before. it's so hard to know?! this is as far as weve got before so i dont feel like got anything to compare with! Did they test your urine at last appt? take it you ddint hear back today with any results of your bloods?? x

KHR1 · 26/02/2021 19:38

Happy birthday @Kirky658!

Glad the scans went well today!

@Darklava09 I work in a primary school and told my head at about 5 weeks after the Christmas holidays. With everything that's going on at the moment I wanted a risk assessment as soon as possible. With my last pregnancy I didn't mention it until 12 weeks though.

@Bubbles1st your blood test sounds awful, it's horrible when they can't get blood and keep prodding and poking!

Squibble84 · 26/02/2021 19:44

@leftitlate37 it is so hard to know! And my memory of my last pregnancy is so fuzzy, I can’t remember what symptoms I did and didn’t have! Hopefully you’ll hear back soon and they can get you on the right course of medicine if it is a uti. No I haven’t heard anything yet! Will be Monday now at the earliest! 😩

leftitlate37 · 26/02/2021 19:48

Awww just enjoy the weekend and don't think about the wait! Its so hard isn't it...basically are we all spending 9mo of just waiting haha
Thanks @FTEngineerM, no antibiotics no...confused as to where they've sent it off to when we were at the hospital and they tested it there and then....but didn't really ask more?!
