Thought we could continue on here? Unless someone has made a different one.

@Squibble84 I’ve seen a few of those, I’ll definitely just have to go for it and get one, I hear lots of good things!

@unicornpower that sounds like a good plan, see how you feel but there is no point worrying. My maternity centre said they would rather me call with even a silly question than worry about things. Xx

Scotti84 · 26/02/2021 09:29

@Kirky658 happy birthday! Enjoy your day off and your nap!

@FTEngineerM good luck for the scan today!

I think I need a pillow too, for some reason I cant drop off to sleep unless I’m on my back, was always a side sleeper so no idea what that’s about.

Gadea · 26/02/2021 10:11

@Kirky658 happy birthday!!

CobleCloud · 26/02/2021 10:19

Hi Ladies, hope you don't mind me joining. I've been watching this thread for a while and have to say you all settled my anxieties for my first scan yesterday! Like a few of you I was so scared my symptoms had subsided that something was wrong (I had a miscarriage last April and this is my first baby) but all was good and I was overwhelmed to see a wriggly little one with a strong heartbeat! I am measuring a couple of days behind at 11 weeks exactly yesterday I thought I was 11+3 but I was reassured all was well! The only thing is I couldn't have the NT screening I had opted in for as baby has to be measuring at least 11+2 so I'm going back for another scan and the test in 2 weeks. It also meant they didn't confirm my EDD but it's looking like mid September. Has anyone else experienced this?

Good luck to all those ladies getting scanned in the next few days! Smile

Sophia889 · 26/02/2021 10:22

@Kirky658 happy Birthday, hope you have a lovely day 🥳

@FTEngineerM good luck today for your scan today, hope it goes well ☺️

I also have a scan today, I'm only 9+3 but without any good reason worrying something might be wrong, even though I had one at 7+4 and everything was fine 🤦🏻‍♀️ nervous but keeping my fingers crossed all is well too!

leftitlate37 · 26/02/2021 10:26

@FTEngineerM good luck today! ive got mine as well, feeling sick with worry :s also got crampy tummy today and now so panicked but think its no worse than the previous weird pulling/cramps been having.
Congrats @CobleCloud! so glad u saw a wiggly one! LIke u, had a miscarriage last year so proper nervous about this one.
Happy birthday @Kirky658!

CobleCloud · 26/02/2021 10:34

Thank you @leftitlate37- I was very anxious yesterday and had stomach cramping a lot more than I ever had, I think it was nerves. The sonographer was lovely and as soon as I walked in the room she mentioned my miscarriage and asked how I was feeling and said she would tell me as soon as she knew baby was ok first and then did all the measurements/paper work after which was reassuring.

unicornpower · 26/02/2021 10:38

Hey girls, I'm joining the worry brigade too! I had a meltdown this morning as my symptoms have pretty much gone at 10+4, weve booked a scan for this afternoon as I can't wait another two weeks for my NHS scan, I dont think my anxiety could cope with it xxxx

CherylLW · 26/02/2021 10:55

That’s a good decision @unicornpower there is no point worrying as it won’t do you any good... going for a scan is the best thing to do.

Thinking of you this afternoon xx

leftitlate37 · 26/02/2021 10:58

ah that's such a relief to hear @CobleCloud - glad she reassured u! Thatss the bit im dreading, if there is a long silence before. starting to feel like ive got a massive exam looming, sweaty, sick and that feeling of dread.
Good luck @unicornpower - hope u get the reassurance you need and sure everything will be fine and it's normal for symptoms to come and go :) let us know how u go.
x

Kirky658 · 26/02/2021 11:11

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, nap is closing in fast ❤️

Hope everyone is doing OK, scanxiety is kicking in here too but trying to stay calm and remember at least DH will be there with me, could have been last year when he wasn't allowed!

Kirky658 · 26/02/2021 11:13

@coblecloud my bestie went at 11.5 weeks for her 12 week scan, she was measuring at 11 weeks and had to go back for her scan and edd calculations I think the extra time gives them more chance to accurately judge. Her DS is now a bustling 14 month old x

FTEngineerM · 26/02/2021 11:20

Thank you ladies for the support.

Everything is ok, phew, feels like such a weight off my shoulders.

New EDD of 12th September so further along than last scan measured me.

@leftitlate37 hope yours goes ok today. Also you @unicornpower I hope it puts your kind at ease.

That sounds stressful @CobleCloud glad you saw the little wriggler, and at least you get to see them again in a fortnight.

Bubbles1st · 26/02/2021 11:33

@Kirky658 happy birthday
@FTEngineerM I'm still waiting for my scan on Tuesday but due date twins at the minute.

I had a melt down this morning at the hospital. I had my midwife appt on Tuesday and she couldn't get my bloods for the booming appt but as my bmi is high I met the criteria for early glucose test. So she just said they could get the extra samples then.

So I've had to fast since 8pm last night, my appt was 9am followed by 2nd sample after glucose drink at 11.30.

Well 15 mins, many tears, two arms and a hand later the nurse still couldn't get a sample. I went off and drank a litre of water and walked a round the grounds for 20mins before coming back.

After two very painful attempts she managed to get in my hand and very slowly drip by drip filled all the samples.

As if drinking the sweet drink and litter having to sit here for two hours in the waiting room and I'm still 30 mins away from having to go through it all again. The nurse said it's the worst case of drawing blood she has seen.

I got so worked up like I was failing at the first hurdle, the midwife also said I would need the chromosome blood test at my scan on Tuesday so it's going to happen again.

Trying not to stress as of course it's not good for me or baby.

Just wanted to vent I think and kill the last bit of time.

Fingers crossed all is ok at the Tuesday scan and this is all worth it.

On a positive note we have had two carpets fitted today so when I get home the freshly decorated nursery will have it's carpet down and ready for the next step once we get further along.

Kirky658 · 26/02/2021 11:37

@bubbles1st oh hun that sounds so bloody stressful, so sorry you are having to go through that. They often struggle to get bloods from me, usually they put my hand in warm water and take it from the back of my hand instead. Hope they sort you out xx

Bubbles1st · 26/02/2021 11:41

@Kirky658 yes I said I'd keep warm and run if under the tap in the loo before going in. Fingers crossed.

CobleCloud · 26/02/2021 12:02

Thank you at @Kirky658 and Happy Birthday.

Ah glad all was ok @FTEngineerM today I feel like a new woman after yesterday a weight does seem to have lifted.

That sounds really stressful @Bubbles1st hope you are feeling better and can try relax this afternoon.

Gadea · 26/02/2021 12:34

@Bubbles1st that sounds very stressful.
My midwife also struggled to get my bloods in my first appointment. Her advice was to drink plenty of water beforehand but she also said it becomes easier and easier as the pregnancy progresses as the flow of blood increases so I hope it gets easier for you x

Bubbles1st · 26/02/2021 13:03

The second blood sample was collected a bit easier, I had kept my hand very warm.

I'm going to get some hand warmers for next time.

Yes this lady said as the pregnancy progresses the blood volume will increase.

I was there nearly 3.5 hours in total, just got home and feel exhausted!

Bit of a rest before facing the shopping.

Squibble84 · 26/02/2021 13:27

@FTEngineerM that’s great the scan went well, must be a big relief for you!!

Good luck to @unicornpower @leftitlate37 having yours today!

@Bubbles1st that sounds really stressful! At least you’re home now and can relax, and as they said, hopefully it will get easier as you progress during the pregnancy.

Still waiting for our chromosome blood test results - I’m hoping no news is good news! They said they’d ring either way due to our previous diagnosis of Patau syndrome but the longer the wait is, the more all the negative thoughts start creeping in!
