Thought we could continue on here? Unless someone has made a different one.

Has anyone one else took a test around 7/8 weeks (I know i shouldnt) and the line be lighter than it was previously? Makes me worry but I'm ready it can be normal

gigi556 · 06/02/2021 10:33

I haven't dared take another test. I imagine time of day etc can impact it. I don't have loads of symptoms. The nausea is so mild compared to my last pregnancy. I'm 8 weeks now. Chance of miscarriage down to 5%. Easier said than done, but unless you are bleeding or having heavy cramping, you just have to assume everything is ok. Try not to worry 😬

Equimum · 06/02/2021 11:38

gigi556 I think you are right to try not to worry about the different levels of nausea in different pregnancies. I was much less nauseous with my first than my second. Last time round I could barely get off the sofa and was like that for week. With this (my third), I have waves of nausea and aversions, and generally feel under par, but nothing like last time. I’m holding on to the fact that my first was a bit like this, and he’s now a very lively, healthy 8 year old.

Hopefulmummie not this time, but I did with my first and panicked like crazy! As you say, apparently it’s normal and something to do with the HCG level being higher than the tests are designed for.

jellybean13419 · 06/02/2021 11:50

Good morning everyone.
Had my scan date come through for 18th March and will be 12+2. Feels ages away! Have an early scan at window to the womb booked for 18th feb though. Has anyone had a scan there? We're going to the Southampton one.
How is everyone feeling? I'm 6+4 and nausea and loss of appetite is starting now.. yay.
Is it normal with your first to just feel like it's so surreal? Can't believe this is happening. Sounds daft I know 😂
Hope everyone has lovely Saturdays xxx

Bubbles1st · 06/02/2021 12:44

@jellybean13419
Hi, exciting, I am still waiting for booking appointment, which Monday never mind first scan through, at least I shouldn't have long to wait once through as 9 weeks tomorrow.

I went for a scan at window to the womb at 8 weeks, just because it felt surreal as you say and I have minimal symptoms so wanted to check it was really happening. It was a lovely experience and even though I didn't want it's transvaginal and definitely not by a man, I wasn't phased at all that it was both those things 😂

Got to see the heartbeat and the reassurance at that stage was brilliant.

Didn't let them up sell me and extra scan photos. More than happy with be and just to know all was ok.

Lozza85 · 06/02/2021 17:51

Hi everyone. I was on the previous thread and been stalking this one! I'm 8+1 and just got back from my scan at window to the womb. Baby is in the right place, saw the heartbeat and is measuring exactly 8+1. So lovely to see that everything looks good for now 🥰. I have my booking in appointment next week so hopefully get my scan date soon after too.

Suffering nausea but got some sea bands which someone on here recommended and they really do help. Hope everyone is doing good.

gigi556 · 06/02/2021 19:33

@jellybean13419 this is my second and it still feels surreal! 🤣

Equimum · 07/02/2021 17:27

jellybean13419 this is my third and it still feels surreal. I haven’t really been able to get my head around the idea that there is a baby inside me until I have seen them on a scan.

Lozza85 congratulations on the positive scan. How exciting!

I know there was some discussion about the Harmony test a while back. Has anyone actually booked theirs year, and are you planning to just get the test done privately, or have the test and scan done?

We are thinking about having just the test done once I have had the 12 week NHS scan. Not sure if I should book the test now, though, or wait and hope their is availability.

Equimum · 07/02/2021 17:28

*there

gigi556 · 07/02/2021 18:35

@Equimum I'm planning on getting the NIPT testing done. I have my booking appointment on Thursday so was planning to ask the midwife about it. I'll probably call the screening place to tomorrow to get more information.

Mamabearwhere · 07/02/2021 20:19

@gigi556 is the NIPT done on nhs or does it need to be done privately ?

gigi556 · 07/02/2021 20:39

@Mamabearwhere it's done privately. Some trusts offer it in special circumstances. It might be offered in wales/Scotland? (I'm in England) I just wanted to also discuss it with my midwife. Its available privately at an NHS hospital near me so I'm going to try to go there.

Scotti84 · 07/02/2021 21:34

I’m going with the Harmony test too. If that shows anything then we’ll decide what to do next but I really don’t like the thought of the invasive test, this child is safe in there and I don’t want to take the risk of anything disturbing that. I’m going to play on the safe side.

Is anyone getting a flu shot? I was recommended to but I don’t think I will, I’ve never had a flu and the winter is almost over. They also recommend getting vaccinated against whooping cough if I’m not already which I’m not... but is that even a thing anymore? So many decisions!

gigi556 · 08/02/2021 06:39

@Scotti84 they recommend the whopping cough towards the end of your pregnancy. It's to protect the baby not you. The whopping cough vaccine can transfer to baby through the placenta. It gives them some protection until they can get the vaccine (at 8 weeks I think). Whopping cough is still a thing and it's really dangerous. As for flu, up to you I guess. I haven't had my booking appointment so it's not been suggested yet. I think we might be out of the flu season. I forgot to get it this year, but I normally get it anyway just because the flu is horrendous and I don't want it. Just because you haven't had flu before doesn't mean you won't get it!

JN2021 · 08/02/2021 09:59

Hi all, first time posting!

I'm only 5+1 but if everything goes well I'll be having baby at 36weeks so in September.

I've slept badly all week, waking at 3am nearly everyday and struggling to get back to sleep, I'd forgotten what pregnancy insomnia is like 😴

I've booked in for 1st scan at 6+2 🤞 x x

Scotti84 · 08/02/2021 10:10

@gigi556 true, about the flu but where I live it gets to lows of minus 20 in winter and I’ve never had more than a cold. I used to work in a hospital in england and when the nurses had the flu jab most of them were ill for a week or so after. I’m not adverse to vaccinations by any means just trying to balance up what is worth instead of jumping on accepting everything that’s offered. My dr here said everyone who will come into contact with the baby should get the whooping cough vaccine but I can’t make the grandparents and auntys and uncles all get it if they don’t want to. I think I’ll ask him more about it at my next appt. get a bit more info before I decide.

Popcorn24 · 08/02/2021 10:17

Hi can I join please? Due my 3rd baby September 27th.
I'm 7 weeks today. Don't actually 'feel' pregnant. Had morning sickness & went off coffee with the other 2 but nothing apart from weird dreams evey night so far with this one. Got a feeling this pregnancy is going to drag 😌

Hopefulmummie · 08/02/2021 11:07

I have a private scan tomorrow I'll be 8 weeks. I'm really nervous as my symtoms seem to have disappeared. I was completely floored on Saturday but from then feel fine. Has anyone else's just disappeared suddenly?

bewitchingnight · 08/02/2021 11:09

@Hopefulmummie Yes mine did and then came back and more a few days later! I couldn't enjoy the time when I wasn't feeling awful because I was panicking that something was wrong

Hopefulmummie · 08/02/2021 11:24

@bewitchingnight I know i wish I could enjoy not feeling sick and will prob regret it when I do feel bad again. If everything is OK at scan tomorrow I will probably relax more

bewitchingnight · 08/02/2021 12:27

@Hopefulmummie Yes definitely, fingers crossed it all goes well tomorrow. Smile I haven't had a scan yet but I'm very excited and nervous about having one! I think I will feel the same when things start easing up - I keep hoping I'm over the worst but I know when the nausea is gone I will worry again!

Hopefulmummie · 08/02/2021 12:33

@bewitchingnight I dont think worrying ever stops no matter what happens you just can't win lol.

Well I wasn't worrying for long-started feeling a bit nauseas again and had to run to the toilet to throw up. It was the worst it's ever been. Thank god for working from home lol I dunno what I would do if I was in the office full time

Equimum · 08/02/2021 12:54

gigi556 thanks. I might wait until after I have seen the midwife next week then.

Hopefulmummie good luck with your scan. Pregnancy is certainly a stressful time and our bodies really don’t make it any less so, do they?!

Popcorn24 congratulations and welcome. I’m also expecting my third and the symptoms have been completely different with each of them. With my last I could barely get off the sofa for weeks. This time round, I am feeling nauseous but the worst thing by far is my sense of smell. My point is that different/ less symptoms can be quite normal.

Hopefulmummie · 09/02/2021 10:53

Scan this morning went well :) 8 weeks today baby measuring at 8+2 and good strong heartbeat. I'm delighted :)
