@Muriel84 wow Christmas next year is organised! I'm always last minute with Christmas buying stuff...we still have presents sat here that we haven't yet been able to give people from this year!

babbit87 · 29/01/2021 17:59

@jbx10 I was going to ask! Oh wow how cute 😍 baby will be super snuggly!

@Muriel84 nothing like future planning!! Love the idea of cat chopsticks

cat709 · 29/01/2021 18:07

Hello ladies,
I've been following this group the last day and it's lovely to see that some of you have now turned into mothers!
I'm 37+4 days and still no early-labour signs whatsoever. I'd love to see the plug..!
I know the baby will come when it comes, and give me no warning or possibly lots...!
But would be great to swap changing symptoms and compare notes (got nothing else to do except use my exercise ball!)
Xx

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 18:09

I've been very good and only bought essentials...but don't give me any ideas now lol
Mind you i've got 3 more to spend on so only essentials for me.
Think as 1st or 2nd time parents its easier to get carried away (i did for my 1st)

@jbx10 uggs for the baby Awe bet you can't wait to use them ❤

jbx10 · 29/01/2021 18:13

@Safxxx that's true - 1st babies definitely get showered with so many unnecessary items don't they. I know it's pointless but I just can't resist. I'm sure I'll be more sensible if we have another one 😂🙈

@babbit87 they are so fluffy! Couldn't resist. What would your unnecessary purchase be?

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 18:14

@cat709 hi welcome, is this your 1st baby? Think were all in the same boat now wishing the days away, but all in good time as they say. Xx

cat709 · 29/01/2021 18:18

@Safxxx
Thank you!!
Yes it's my first, what about you?
It's funny, over the course of pregnancy I have been absolutely terrified of the birth, but now being so uncomfortable and wanting a safe delivery, the actual birth doesn't seem as scary.
I learned at NCT last week that an induction means labour ward, not birth centre, and I'm dying for the latter. So hoping something naturally happens over the next few weeks.
Has anyone had any plug stories yet? X

babbit87 · 29/01/2021 18:21

@jbx10 I've bought a baby pom pom hat where the faux fur pom pom will be bigger than babies head 😂 looks super cute tho. but I'm trying to wait until I know if its boy or girl. I LOVE the Ted Baker baby sleepsuits and blankets so eyeing them up (would it be wrong to buy boy and girl and just return when baby is here and we know? Haha) . Last time I treated myself to an Elodie Details footmuff which I'm still in love with everytime I take the pram out 😁 this is DC3 so really don't need anything but feel like I need to spoil them with something as feel guilty that most their stuff will be hand me downs and as others have said they get way less in the way of gifts!

Stef92 · 29/01/2021 18:27

We've tried to stick to essentials but I know if shops had been open I'd have gone a bit crazy. Work dropped their present off for baby during the week, they've bought from the white company and the stuff on their website looks amazing but pricey!

Newmumfeb2021 · 29/01/2021 18:38

I've been asked by my MIL (culturally its a thing) to not buy anymore than essential stuff till the baby is born. so even though I love certain things, I have bookmarked them and I will be adding them to basket once my little one is here!

@jbx10 ugg for babies!! 😍

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 18:40

@cat709 its my 4th baby.
Seems like you been learning alot about labour, i tell you something no matter how much you know or are prepared for it, till you actualy go thru it you will see what its all about lol.
I've had my previous 3 kids naturaly and only used gas&air for pain relief.
Hope the same for this time too.
Losing plug is not always the 1st sign, for my 1st it was only solid contractions for hours, 2nd started with contractions then lost mucus plug after 4-5 hrs
3rd my waters broke and nothing else till 8+hrs when contractions started.
So the labour signs can vary and come in no fixed order.
As a first time mum its most likely you will be near due date or even over, but all can change. Hope you get your wish of natural birth Xxx

jbx10 · 29/01/2021 18:43

@babbit87 that sounds amazing. The bigger the Pom Pom the better 😂 they'll look so cute in it. No shame in buying a girl/boy one then returning - they deserve to be spoiled 😂

@Stef92 oh amazing love the white company. The stuff will be gorgeous!

@Newmumfeb2021 makes total sense, and also good because it stops you over spending too! But at least once baby's here safe & sound you can get some treats 😇😇

babbit87 · 29/01/2021 18:48

@Safxxx high five to you hard core mama! 😁 I also did it on gas & air for DC1 and only paracetamol for DC2 but only because they didn't move me to delivery suite quickly enough! (Also o everyone else I'm not against other pain relief but have a HUGE needle phobia so Epidural was a big no no for me)

Newmumfeb2021 · 29/01/2021 19:16

@babbit87 same!! I have needle phobia but then I also have pain phobia, as in the anticipation of pain, rather than pain itself. As I have a very high tolerance for pain I believe. I have told mw (and DH), for my birth plan, to keep epidural as the last option only when I am crying and hurling swear words at everyone. 🤣

I think I am somehow slightly over my needle phobia because of number of blood tests that I have gone through due to being anaemic during pregnancy. I have another blood test at 37 weeks. 🙈

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 19:52

@babbit87 haha i'm no hard core mama lol, and doing it all over again after 9yrs is like being a first time mum again, i'm also nervous about labour as every birth experience is diffrent to the other. Just wondering whats in the bag for me this time 🤔
You have done very well yourself in 2 births although i don't see how paracetamol helped as i'm sure that won't even touch the tip of the pain 😣
Ahh the pain (still scares me)
I am hoping for a water birth this time due to my pevic pains lets see if ones available on the day. Xx

babbit87 · 29/01/2021 19:53

@Newmumfeb2021 yes pregnancy does kind of force you to get over it doesn't it? Lol. I used to be terrible - would have a panic attack, hyperventilate then pass out almost everytime - DC3 now I just don't like it and get light headed 🙃 my worry with epidural is that in the throes of labour I wouldn't be able to control my panic and keep still enough for them to do it properly.

I was terrified of birth with my first too - IMO have a birth plan if it reassures you but be prepared for it to go out the window and go with the flow. Its true what they say you do go into 'labourland' and forget all the pain as soon as that baby is in your arms.

babbit87 · 29/01/2021 20:01

@Safxxx yes I know, paracetamol is all they'd give me on the ward and by the time they got me to delivery suite waters broke and he was head and shoulders out before I got my gas and air!

Oooh lets hope one is available for you. I'm hoping for a birthing pool too. Had one with my first and it helped me relax so much.

babydust2412 · 29/01/2021 20:23

I'm hoping for water birth too😆 however I'm convinced this baby is not going to come naturally, I'm due Wednesday and still no reliable signs 😩😩 he seems very comfy in there

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 20:34

@babydust2412 your little one needs a kick start, time to eat some spicy curry lol.🤣

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 20:36

@babbit87 wow fast entry lol

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 20:37

@Char41zam any news? How are you?
@OnNaturesCourse @IamC how you both doing? Xxx

Safxxx · 29/01/2021 20:39

OnNaturesCourse · 29/01/2021 21:03

Hi Ladies.

Sorry for the short and sweet reply but I just wanted to say thank you for the congratulations. 🎊

We are home safe and sound, enjoying thr newborn bubble but definitely going to bed soon after only 1 hour sleep in 48 hours or so.
