We are all so incredibly close ladies! It will all be worth it x

OnNaturesCourse · 24/01/2021 21:33
@OnNaturesCourse oh sounds tough!! try get some rest whilst your contractions have eased off, tomorrow may be your big day!

@Stef92 good plan! I start my mat leave straight away & have saved up carried over holiday from last year plus the hols I'll accrue this year to take on those last few unpaid months, so my last couple of months will be back up to full pay x
I do hope not as DP is back at work over a hour plus away and I'm home alone with DD. I'm hoping if it's starting then it'll kick off again tonight before morning lol. Don't think it will tho, it's completely quiet again.

@OnNaturesCourse that is so frustrating! It really sounded as if things were getting started for you 😩 I really hope you can get some rest and then things start again ❤️

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/01/2021 06:02

That was possibly the worst nights sleep I have had whilst pregnant. If I wasn’t awake for a pee then I was having Braxton Hicks that kicked in just as I was about to drop off each time from about 1am onwards. (I say Braxton Hicks; I didn’t have any when pregnant with DD or any actual contractions as she was an EMCS but I’m holding out hope that they are BH)

Back pain, cramps, upset tummy and matchsticks holding my eyes open. Days like this are where I miss caffeine!

Fingers crossed 2 year old DD is easy on me today 🤞

babbit87 · 25/01/2021 06:59

@Thegirlhasnoname oh that sounds like a horrible night! Replace caffeine with a sugar rush? Lol. Go easy on yourself today. Does your DD still nap?

babbit87 · 25/01/2021 07:00

I'm a bit naughty when I feel like that - I treat myself to a 'proper coffee' frothy coffee from the machine with lots of sugar and vanilla 😋 I figure one every now and again cant hurt and it makes the WORLD of difference to my day

Piccalily19 · 25/01/2021 07:07

Gosh I feel for you ladies still working! I’ve done one week of maternity leave and I feel better for it.
@OnNaturesCourse sounds like your body is really teasing you with Labour, hopefully it’s soon for you.
@Thegirlhasnoname my sleep wasn’t great either, I’m getting so sick of sleeping on my sides, my hips always give up about 3-4am and wake me up.
Off for a final (hopefully) growth scan this morning then hoping I can get a sofa nap in!

babbit87 · 25/01/2021 07:17

@Piccalily19 hope the growth scan goes well and you get that sofa nap 😊

Last week wfh for me too. I have mixed feelings, glad to not be working but we will be self isolating as a family pre-due date so both my LOs will be at home all the time and not in nursery. Swapping one kind of work for another! Will be good having DH at home too, even if he is busy on calls and zoom meetings.

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 08:00

@IamC Hi how are you getting along? Xx

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 08:07

@Thegirlhasnoname so frustrating is'nt it you hit the bed and if its not one thing its another 😩 hope you can rest tday. Don't feel guilty on the caffeine, treat yourself tday to it Xx
@Piccalily19 Hope all goes well at the scan and you get your nap later 👍🏼

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/01/2021 08:54

@babbit87 luckily she still naps (only recently turned 2) and I’m hoping to get 2 hours out of her later so I can get my head down too. She was up at 6 so it shouldn’t be too hard of an ask, hopefully! I have gestational diabetes so a sugar kick isn’t in my future annoyingly.

I’m concerned that these could not be BH though as everything I’ve read said that they shouldn’t be painful but these definitely are - they had me bent over in pain grasping the kitchen worktop earlier and don’t seem to be easing off much. At least one every ten minutes. Bloody hurt! Hoping a hot water bottle helps to take the edge off

Might be a fair bit of screen time today for DD though!

babbit87 · 25/01/2021 09:17

@Thegirlhasnoname ah sorry, didn't realise about the GD! Oh thats so nice she still naps. My DS does but DD doesn't so we have 'sofa snuggles' and a disney film!

Hmmm sounds like it could be the real thing? If they start getting much closer if be calling DP and the MW!!

Bambino87 · 25/01/2021 09:26

Hello

Was just wondering if anyone's partners aren't able to self isolate before due date?

My husband is a police officer and was working with someone last week who has to self isolate now as he was in contact with someone who tested positive.... it just made me realise that if anyone on his shift was to test positive he may have to self isolate and miss the birth and the first few days until I get home 😥 is anyone in a similar situation? Xxx

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 09:52

@Bambino87 thats another dilema ehh, if your husband shows no signs of it then no point telling the hospital about self isolation. Of course its another thing if he feels unwell. My hubby can't take time off either. Lets hope we all get thru these hard times and have our patners with us 🤞

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/01/2021 10:02

@Bambino87 my DH can’t isolate beforehand either but we’re just trying to be as sensible as we can before the date of the section. DD has been pulled from nursery for the next fortnight (though she will be going back on the day of the c-section if her bubble hasn’t closed as it seems a bit silly to be paying for the childcare already and getting my mum or somebody to look after her for the day) just on the off chance. We live in an area with low rates though so I’m hoping that we’ll be fine.

The consultant I’m under recognised that it isn’t really feasible to isolate an entire household this lockdown though as people are needing to go out of the house for work/shopping etc and just said to adhere to distancing and strict hand washing instead.

Very nerve wrecking though!

IamC · 25/01/2021 10:09

@Safxxx pretty bored in hospital tbh - just hoping the days hurry up (or I can get a consultant sooner - wishful thinking!).

Getting a bit nervous about the section now, as I have had nothing to do but Google in here - maybe I should go back to reading my book 😂

OnNaturesCourse · 25/01/2021 11:00

@IamC when are you booked in for again? Definitely stay away from Google, but I know that's easier said than done!

@babbit87 my DP can't isolate either. DD and I are isolating, as is my Mums household who I have been/will be in a support bubble with. My Mum is also my back up birth partner. DP will be working right up to the day I give birth so I'm hoping he doesn't catch anything. Unfortunately there is no way around him working 😭

Hey ladies, back from my scan and I’ve got myself all freaked out and worked up!
Scans were for low PAPPa but so far babies been on 68-74th centile throughout so no concerns but at this scan they showed he’d dropped to 58th from 74th (a month ago). She basically said because the drop was over the “15” difference (his drop was 17 so borderline) they allow between scans I should be induced this weekend. This totally panicked me as induction is not something I wanted to do if possible and I was no way expecting her to say that this soon. After my panic I asked if there were other options and she reluctantly said she’d ask the consultant again and then came back to say consultant said as long as I’m “aware of the risks” she’s happy to scan again in 2 weeks when id be 40 weeks instead.
I was a bit of an emotional mess by this point (FTM panic, don’t judge) and hadn’t even been able to call my partner so I said I’d rather be rescanned in two weeks.
Have I made a stupid choice and taken a stupid risk? May be totally being naive but surely the 58th centile and estimated at 7lb 3oz isnt a bad place to be at 38 weeks?!
Luckily I’ve got my routine midwife checkup on Wednesday so I’m going to have a proper chat with her then when I’ve processed everything and pulled myself together a bit.

OnNaturesCourse · 25/01/2021 11:01

Sorry that should be @Bambino87!

OP posts:
Piccalily19 · 25/01/2021 11:03

@Bambino87 my partner can’t either, but luckily he only works with one other person. My hospital said as long as he doesn’t have symptoms he’s fine to be there so I’d agree with what a previous poster has said and just keep quiet about anything else!

OnNaturesCourse · 25/01/2021 11:05

@Piccalily19 oh you poor thing to be put on the spot like that. I'd have done the same in your position. Take your time and speak with your support system, then raise it with your midwife.

I don't think they'll be concerned about the baby's weight as it seems quite good, but they are maybe concerned as to why baby has stopped growing along the same curve. It can be placenta issues, or quote simply the measurements have been taken wrong. I'd be asking for a scan in a week instead of 2, or getting a private one, but like you I'd not have agreed to a induction on the spot like that.

OP posts:
pampero · 25/01/2021 11:31

@bambino87 I sympathise with you as you've literally just described the scenario I'm in at the moment. I'm currently 36 weeks so hopefully we'll get through the isolation without anything starting, then we just have to hope it doesn't happen again (thankfully he has no symptoms). I'm preparing myself for the worst scenario thay he might not be able to come but hoping for the best, about all we're able to do atm.

Piccalily19 · 25/01/2021 11:36

Thank you @OnNaturesCourse - really appreciate your reply!
Im going to speak to my midwife on Wednesday about if it’s possible to have a scan earlier, that’s a good idea. But already feeling a bit calmer about everything if she also recommends an induction. I don’t cope well with being put on the spot 🙈

Safxxx · 25/01/2021 11:37

@IamC i hope the days go quick for you and hopefully they get the ball rolling sooner🤞

OnNaturesCourse · 25/01/2021 11:39

It's so hard to be put on the spot like that, especially when we are on our own most of the time now.

How is baby's movements etc
