Regarding breastfeeding.

I'm a little concerned as I hate Anything touching my nipples it hurts!! Like someone's stabbing them with a pin and that was before I was pregnant it's alot worse now. I have to have thick bras just to stop my clothing touching them and even now thinking about it is making them hurt.

I'm worried I won't beable to breastfeed! 😭

AlRRRR · 01/02/2021 18:12

The nipples can become sensitive when baby is 1st born, like you, I didn’t like anything touching them, partners etc, when she 1st came out, i latched her on and it was weird and it took me some days to get used to it. Then it went all wrong because I become stressed and one nipple had trauma! I used some leaves on it and I thought about trying nipple shields as my friend used them for 9 months. All I can say is just try if you want to, use lanisoh / nipple cream and try not to stress as it can make feeding harder, :) Until baby is here, you won’t know for sure :)

Sitchervice · 01/02/2021 19:23

@AlRRRR nipple cream ughh I couldn't touch them before I was pregnant, caused me to much pain! How would I do it after!

Sitchervice · 01/02/2021 19:52

I didn't mean to come across as rude. But like I said my nipples have hurt me for as long as I can remember. I should talk to someone but I can't stand the thought of someone touching them

Firsttimeconcerns · 01/02/2021 20:18

Hello everyone! I have my 20 week scan next week - do I go with full bladder? Nothing in the letter!

lucieloos · 01/02/2021 20:20

@Firsttimeconcerns yes full bladder. Good luck!

swiftt · 01/02/2021 20:25

@Firsttimeconcerns I was actually asked to empty my bladder even though I peed right before the scan! It’s not necessary, but they’ll just ask you to empty it if they need to so wouldn’t do any harm either way.

Thank you both!!

BlondePotter · 01/02/2021 20:41

@Firsttimeconcerns don't think it matters this time as baby is bigger! Mine was maybe half full and she scanned quickly and could see everything

DollyParton2 · 01/02/2021 20:56

Firsttimeconcerns NOT a full bladder as lucieloos says. I knew this so wasn’t trying to drink but even mine was too full & had to get up midway through to go for a wee as she couldn’t take measurements. Just want to warn you as the less time you have to be in hospital/ using shared toilet etc the better right now

Sweetmad · 01/02/2021 21:00

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow. Do they do another round of bloods as well does anyone know please? Just so I can be prepared with my chocolate bar for afterwards just incase haha

Waitingforbabypage · 01/02/2021 21:35

Needed an empty bladder for my 20 weeks scan and no, @Sweetmad I didn't have any more bloods.

lucieloos · 01/02/2021 21:53

@DollyParton2 Oh ok I'm just going by what I was told! On my letter it said a full bladder and it was full and they didn't ask me to empty it. Not sure why that is.

lucieloos · 01/02/2021 21:55

It says on the letter not necessary after 28 weeks

MadameBonfamille · 02/02/2021 04:54

Sitchervice yes if you think you want to bfeed and this is something that causes you genuine discomfort then I would see if you can talk to a lactation consultant - you might be able to find someone via the NHS or NCT?

Also re bladders and scans I've been told to drink 500ml before my 20 week scan tomorrow but I did think from memory that we didn't have to for this one - so am assuming they might end up making me empty it once I'm there.

Sweetmad · 02/02/2021 08:40

@Waitingforbabypage ah fab, Thankyou 😊

SweatpantsTime · 02/02/2021 09:29

Hi!
Hope I can join the conversation? I’m due 11 June, just had my 20w scan and the baby is apparently small (at 10 percentile) so I’ll need a growth scan at 28w.

This is my first pregnancy so the whole thing is quite overwhelming to be honest and scary - also don’t really know anyone (not close enough to ask weird questions as least) that has ever been pregnant so I feel quite clueless at times.

Also no idea if it’s a girl or a boy as the baby was (again) in an odd position...

Snally82 · 02/02/2021 11:36

20 week scan all done, and she’s doing well!

Snally82 · 02/02/2021 11:43

Also had the whooping cough vaccine yesterday and it absolutely killed my arm, I was not prepared for that!!

DLHJune24 · 02/02/2021 14:27

@Snally82 had the whooping cough jab this morning and my arm already hurts! Glad I’m not the only one.

I had my 20 week scan this morning and was told to come with full bladder which the sonographer was happy with until the baby wouldn’t move half way through so had to half empty my bladder and do some star jumps. If you’re unsure I’d go with a full bladder, easier to empty if needed than the other way around.

Also anyone else been told they have a low placenta? Mine is apparently a little on the low side and so having another scan at 32 weeks but they’re pretty confident it will have moved higher by that point. On the plus side it’s another chance to see baby!

Good to hear about everyone else’s experiences and seeing all the scan pics xx

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 02/02/2021 15:21

My sonographer also told me 100% we should not come to 20 week scans with full bladders. As Dolly says to avoid any extra time mingling people in hospitals and sharing toilets I’d really not go with a full bladder!

Waitingforbabypage · 02/02/2021 16:43

My whooping cough jab made my arm tender for a fair few days. Just go steady with it ladies x

Whywontitname · 02/02/2021 16:53

Did your midwives refer you for the whooping cough or did you have to ask them for it?

I called and asked for my Mat1B form posting out today just so I can get organised with work and have my end date!

Penny2020 · 02/02/2021 16:55

Thought I’d lost you all, finally found this new thread. Great to see all these scans, some really pictures too.

Anyone else’s LO joined the baby aerobics club? She usually starts around 9pm when I’m off to bed, and it feels like she practicing for the Olympics in there. She’s getting pretty strong now too, she almost bounced my phone right out of my hand last night with a big kick - obviously doesn’t like me using my bump as a phone rest!

@SweatpantsTime Welcome! I’m a first timer as well with no clue what I’m doing, so welcome to the club!!!

Snally82 · 02/02/2021 17:02

@Whywontitname they offered it to me when I arrived for my scan yesterday, no referral
