Hello ladies.

Whooping cough made my arm sore for days to.

Does anyone else have regular spotting? I say spotting more like a light pinky mucus. I have placenta privea and have been back and for the hospital because it can be risky. But just wondering if the mucus can sometimes just be a pregnancy thing?

@ DLHJune24 I have a low placenta but mine is completely covering birth canal and because of its position unlike to move. So a little different to you but I was told, be mindful of pain or spotting and don’t wait ring straight away for advice.
2 weeks later I started spotting 🙈 so was in until it stopped came home Sunday and it started back today 😢.

Pregnancy is so tricky 💙

I wondered if anyone was worried about going for their scan in the hospital with Covid? I wasn’t last time for the 12 week scan, I think I was just easier going and pregnancy not showing. However I know the hospital I’m going to has the most Covid patients in our Trust and the social distancing at the maternity unit was appalling. I guess we’re doing so much to stay safe at home with the lockdown that going to a hospital full of Covid seems to nullify that effort. I also found out since my last scan that I’m in group 6 for a vaccine. I didn’t realise a medical condition I have counts as a clinical vulnerability. I have pushed with my GP and managed to get myself back on the list for a Covid vaccine despite being pregnant. I think the CV takes priority. I don’t want to get Covid now I’m only a few weeks from a jab but I fear it’s an inevitability just by going to the Covid ridden hospital.

Snally82 · 02/02/2021 19:28

Glad to hear I haven’t just been a total wimp with the whooping cough vaccine!

@rvms I must admit I wasn’t overly worried but it’s not crowded at all, and well managed where I go. Plus I don’t have to pass through any other areas of the hospital so very lucky really

PinkPlantCase · 02/02/2021 21:41

@rvms I didn’t like the scan waiting room at all. They’ve taped off every other seat and everyone wears masks but there’s no airflow and the distancing between people wasn’t very far. Probably under 1m as a plastic seat isn’t that wide.

That said I don’t think there’s much we can do about it. I’m CV and going to the scan is probably the only risky thing I do. I liked to think that atleast being surrounded by other pregnant women you’d home everyone there would be extra careful anyway.

My hospital is a dedicated women’s hospital too with no specific wards for Covid treatment so that did give me some peace of mind.

Snally82 · 02/02/2021 22:12

It’s so surprised how different the systems are in different hospitals - you can take a buzzer and wait in your car at ours

rvms · 02/02/2021 23:55

@PinkPlantCase you’re so lucky yours is a dedicated womans hospital. I know my maternity unit is inside a hospital with the largest number of COVID patients in the area also Confused I’m not too worried about the other pregnant women - we’re all locked down, but I am worried about the poor medical staff having Covid and passing it on. I know they operate separately from the Covid wards but ultimately they’re on a Covid site all day. They’ve all been so incredibly brave to keep coming in throughout the pandemic it feels silly to complain about being there for a couple of hours max. Will you be taking up the vaccine when it gets to Group 6 or wait until after giving birth?

rvms · 02/02/2021 23:57

@Snally82 that’s such a sensible solution!

PinkPlantCase · 03/02/2021 07:46

@rvms I don’t know for sure but I think hospital staff all get tested at least weekly now with lateral flow tests. Ooow and a lot may have had the vaccine too! I can see why you’re worried though, it is scary.

I think I’ll wait till after giving birth for the vaccine. I had to stop taking so much medication that made my life easier before TTC that having the vaccine now doesn’t sit right with me. Though both me and DH work from home and have no DCs so can very easily just not go out. We’re planning to pretty much shield for the last month before baby is due even if transmission is much lower by May. I might reconsider on the vaccine though if I need a much more hospital managed third trimester for any reason.

DLHJune24 · 03/02/2021 09:57

@Fightingtobepositive Hope everything goes ok for you, spending that much time in hospital at the best of times isn’t good. Thanks for the advice if I start to feel something isn’t right or get any spotting I’ll get straight on the phone.

It’s interesting all the different experiences in the maternity wards/hospitals. I felt safe at the hospital yesterday, different areas for any COVID patients, everyone having to have a lateral flow test before entering the hospital for any appointments, good social distancing, face shields on top of masks for everyone. Without that level of safety I completely understand people not feeling comfortable if measures aren’t being put in place or very well adhered to!

northerngal20 · 03/02/2021 11:12

hi! thinking of everyone going in for scans in the next few days, and glad to hear so many have gone well! :)

we just had ours today - baby is looking really healthy, so so pleased, now just getting excited about meeting them in june!! in terms of safety, sadly partners aren't allowed to scans anymore due to COVID at my hospital so i had to go it alone, which was a bit upsetting - did anyone else have to do this? fortunately that did mean there was loads of space, i barely saw anyone apart from medical staff while waiting for the appointment. dh had to wait outside but luckily the sonographer was really nice and wrote the gender down on a piece of paper for us so we could find out together!

TerryRose · 03/02/2021 11:57

Hey girls, I had my 20 week scan on Monday all was well, since yesterday evening though I've a stitch like pain in my left side, it eases up when I am walking, seem to feel it more when I'm sitting , it's like a round ligament pain but seems to be lasting for longer , just wondering if anyone has had similar or should I be worried

Snally82 · 03/02/2021 12:36

@Northerngal20 I’m so sorry you’re partner couldn’t go with you but pleased all is well with the little one. Nothing has really changed here with any appointments... yet!

@TerryRose I’d had some pains like that that have lasted longer than others for sure

Scarftown · 03/02/2021 13:08

@TerryRose. I keep getting pain on my right side high up near the ribs. I have just assumed it’s my organs and muscles getting squished by baby.

northerngal20 · 03/02/2021 13:28

thanks @Snally82, i was pretty gutted! seems like my trust is one of the strictest ones at the moment from what i can see online - it was really hit by covid this wave - but just glad everything was ok in the end :)

PinkPlantCase · 03/02/2021 13:55

@northerngal20 my DH hasn’t been allowed at any of the NHS scans. We had a private one at 9 weeks where we saw baby togther for the first time but both 12 and 20 week scans here I’ve had to go alone.

I figure that with it being our first atleast DH doesn’t really know what he’s missing 😂

northerngal20 · 03/02/2021 14:02

ahh @PinkPlantCase good to know it wasn't just me - but sorry you've had to go through that too! haha and yeah same, first one so we don't really have anything to compare it to! Grin

rvms · 03/02/2021 15:18

My hospital is allowing all partners at scans despite being almost overwhelmed by Covid patients. I’m not really worried about partners passing on covid. Whatever they’ve got the whole household’s likely got. It’s good of my hospital to make the effort and allow them in. If there was bad news I would need support.

Emmie12 · 03/02/2021 20:23

The letter for my 20 weeks scan says no partners but the latest website news is still saying they are allowed (he was for my 12 week). Then when I messaged my maternity "help line" they also said partners are still allowed.

Our maternity ward is separated from the main hospital, so lucky in that sense. Might just see if hubby can come in with me but accept he might be turned away!

Still not feeling much in the way of kicks which has got me feeling a bit anxious!

AlRRRR · 03/02/2021 20:44

@Emmie12 I have my 20 wk scan tomorrow
and still don’t know if I’m feeling things, and I’ve got 1 child already 😂😂😂

TerryRose · 03/02/2021 21:17

@rvms oh brilliant, my hospital isn't so OH hasn't been to any scans apart from a private one we did at 7 weeks so we are going to another private one in March

TerryRose · 03/02/2021 21:18

@Scarftown @Snally82 thanks for that , that's more than likely it , I just assumed I was over ligament pain, forgot about the rest of the pains that happen 🤣🙈

Opticabbage · 03/02/2021 21:24
@Opticabbage where abouts are you?
Sitchervice · 04/02/2021 11:57

AlRRRR · 04/02/2021 12:14
