@TerryRose for months now! Dairy tends to set mine off so I've cut down on that and eat dinner earlier. It can be incredibly annoying though, often stops me sleeping. I've loved pregnancy but most definitely won't be sad to see the back of the heartburn 😆

Edelweiss2020 · 31/03/2021 17:53

Oh hell the heartburn! I seem to get it on and off, one day it'll be terrible and the next nothing. Still bloody annoying!

TerryRose · 31/03/2021 17:57

@Nesski @Edelweiss2020 @Lovethatjourneyforme it's so annoying isn't it ! I can't pin point yet what sets mine off it seems to be anything I eat and as soon as I sit down in bed it starts , I know old wives tales say it's a sign that the baby will have a head of hair 🤣

Sitchervice · 31/03/2021 19:19

They gave me omoprazol for heartburn o.O

Lovethatjourneyforme · 31/03/2021 21:29

Think I'm going to speak to my midwife about omeprazole at my next appointment. Feel like it's only going to get worse as baby takes up more and more internal space!

Nesski · 31/03/2021 21:48

@Lovethatjourneyforme speak to your midwife for advice but only your doc can write the prescription, so maybe just get an appointment with your GP to discuss. Have you tried gaviscon already?

Sitchervice · 31/03/2021 21:58

@Lovethatjourneyforme renie is also very good. It was the GP surgery pharmacist that perscibed me the Omoprazol. Don't need a face to face, just phone talk to receptionist and ask for a phone call back and say your suffering with heartburn.

I would not be shocked if your little one has a bit of tuffty hair on their head ❤️

Lovethatjourneyforme · 31/03/2021 22:48

Yeah as my midwife appointment is coming up thought I'd just speak to her first, will see if I can arrange a call from the pharmacist/GP while I'm there 😊
I have rennies and gaviscon, find the gaviscon works for longer but still doesn't always cut it. Plus it tastes vile haha

Nesski · 01/04/2021 10:52

I've only braved the gaviscon pills and they are still stomach turning, it's the chalky texture!!

The weeks seem to be flying by, I wonder if I'll be sad once he's out...

On another note, I'm thinking of asking for an elective C section, I've got strep B which will more than likely result in an immediate induction (I really don't want an induction), a huge fibroid to which when I had my obstetrician meeting it was literally all doom and gloom 'you will bleed a lot and may need a transfusion' as opposed to you might bleed a lot. I just feel like there's a lot of 'ifs' at the moment and I'm not in control

Mackie2020 · 01/04/2021 11:11

Is anyone having growth scans, & were these always planned or were they arranged as your pregnancy went on? What's the reason for you having them?

I measured slightly large at my 28 week midwife appointment and am wondering whether it's likely I'll be sent for growth scans. No sign of GD at the moment but would I be tested for that too if they suspect baby is big?

How frequently are you scanned?

jupitermars1345 · 01/04/2021 11:39

I haven't been on this thread for ages
Due June 10 with baby 2. Another girl.
I'm having growth scans this time . Because I had pre eclampsia with my first baby so it's standard. I was measuring 27cm at 27+6 last time I was measured so I'm not to worried.

No signs of pe again yet at 30 weeks.
It happened at 35 weeks with my daughter. Fx it won't happen again this time.

I'm unsure if one slightly larger measurement would warrant a scan or not.
It seems to vary a lot trust by trust to

MimiDaisy11 · 01/04/2021 12:05

I had low P-APPA at my 12 week appointment so I had been booked in for two extra growth scans as it can indicate a small baby. I recently had the 30 week scan and then I have one in about 6 weeks.

My 30th week scan showed my baby is bigger than average so not too worried.

Sitchervice · 01/04/2021 12:11

@Mackie2020 I had low papp-a and am getting monthly growth scans.

I quite like it as I get to see him more. He's got long legs though!

Nesski · 01/04/2021 13:30

@Mackie2020 yes just had one at 28 weeks and another at 36 but due to fibroid, baby is in 82nd centile. They wouldn't let you get scans done unless you're measuring extremely small or big (below 3rd or above 97th) or if you have an underlying condition like me, @Sitchervice and @MimiDaisy11

Nesski · 01/04/2021 13:31

And @jupitermars1345

Happy2be · 01/04/2021 14:47

@Nesski have they said you will need an induction? My sister in law had strep b and gave birth early. She was only in hospital for 2 days and was back home! So fingers crossed you can avoid too

Mackie2020 · 01/04/2021 16:41

Thanks all for the growth scan info! I'll see how this bump is measuring up at my next midwife appointment next week.

TerryRose · 01/04/2021 17:28

@Nesski yup I'll definitely miss the bump it's funny never understood what people meant by that before but it's so lovely feeling them move about . Oh I definitely would ask about a c section if I was you especially if there are other factors going on and even still I think people should have the choice .

AlRRRR · 01/04/2021 18:13

@Nesski Do they test all women for Strep B or is something you already knew about? I know in some countries they test routinely but in the UK, they don’t (i think)

Sitchervice · 01/04/2021 18:46

@AlRRRR nhs don't test you can get it done privately.

I'm having one done on the 21st of April. If it comes up positive they usually just give you antibiotics when your having the baby or after I can't remember which one.

AlRRRR · 01/04/2021 18:50

@Sitchervice Ohhh, is this something that’s recommended then, 1st time I’ve heard of it, 2nd baby and didn’t get this test 1st time round either

Sitchervice · 01/04/2021 21:04

@AlRRRR it's not recommend by medical teams. I only heard of the tests because my MIL is a Nanny to new borns and surgested getting it done.

Nesski · 01/04/2021 21:15

@AIRRRR I had a swab taking when I was bleeding at week 22 I think, and they found strep B. NHS doesn't offer it which is absurd as it means that the risk lays with the mother who might unknowingly have strep B would need to look out for signs on whether the baby has been affected! All Americans get the test done as routine

@Happy2be I have to go straight in if waters break and if labour hasn't started I will be induced. Can't wait around at home until labour is established!

Sitchervice · 01/04/2021 22:04

@Nesski I guess it will also be nicer to know exactly what day your baby will be born on when having a c section as well. You can be a little bit more prepared.

Happy2be · 01/04/2021 23:06

@Nesski aww ok I get you now. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan. Nice wee contractions start first 😜
