Hi ladies. Is anyone else suffering with lower back/hip pain? This is my third pregnancy and never suffered with anything like it before.
It's making me miserable because I have so much I want to get up and do (mainly a lot of decorating) and I am struggling massively to just move around! Even if I just sit for too long it's like my legs can't take the weight straight away.
I will speak to my midwife when I see her next but just feel like I should be enjoying this easier second trimester and I can't Confused

@TerryRose It can be hard if you have food aversions! As long as you separate the dairy and the veg when you do manage to eat it and add a lemon into the veg, it’ll help you’re Iron levels!

A smoothie is an easy way to add fibre, vit’s and minerals and you can make it with whatever you want. I use 2 oranges and a lemon squeezed, then add greens - spinach / kale, then add some fruit to your taste. Within a week or so, your levels should be much better!

The nose stuffiness, I’m using a saline solution spray and also using steam baths haha. I had bad sinusitis in April/ May when I think I had Covid (no tests then) and itms been on and off like catarrh ever since, so maybe pregnancy contributing ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@Jinglebells87 I've been having hip and back pain too.

I'm seeing a physio for the hip pain but I also started wearing some pregnancy support leggings about 6 weeks ago and they have been great. I wash them once a week and I can really feel the difference on my lower back for that one day I'm not wearing them! They are the SRC pregnancy leggings, they are quite pricey but I bought mine of ebay.

Sounds like pgp which is what i have, started on xmas day! Mine is in the pelvic joints, particularly inner pelvis/upper thighs and also lower back and bloody hurts. Its made worse for me by laying on my side so the consultant has told me sleep on my back with a pillow wedged under one side so im not flat on my back basically. You can ask your midwife to refer you to physio which is what ive done! Got my first appt with them on monday and will be asking about pelvic support belts and tens machines
Jinglebells87 · 06/02/2021 15:39

Thank you @Suite88 and @curiouscat1987 for the advice. I might give the midwives a call as not seeing anyone for another 4 weeks and see if I can get some physio.
I am so worried that I won't be able to move closer to my due date!
I'm going to look at supportive leggings and belts now! Thanks again ladies Grin

Hi guys.

I've started having bad back pain when sleeping on my side. I have pregnancy pillows, which don't work. A normal pillow which dosnt work. Pillow between legs, pillows here there and everywhere for suport. (My husband is slowly being pushed out the bed)
I am starting to think I've twisted a muscle at some point but I wondered if anyone else has had this and what they did because, I'm running out of options. Soon the bed will just become one massive pillow Fort.

I get this too from side sleeping, although mostly in pelvis only a little in back. Consultant told me to sleep on my back with a pillow(s) wedged in along one side to tilt me slightly. Said as long as im not flat on my back its ok,so ive been doing that and although its not exactly comfy it causes far less pain!! I have my long dream genii pillow just wedged all along my body under the left side of my back. Keep waking to readjust it as it does move a bit but so much better than tryinv to sleep on side!
Emmie12 · 08/02/2021 11:14

@Sitchervice @curiouscat1987 I am getting the exact same, waking up in pain that then aches through the day. I've also tried all the pillows and whilst it's helped a bit it's still hurting enough to wake me up. Laying flatter with a pillow underneath sounds good though so will try that tonight! Thank you

PinkPlantCase · 08/02/2021 12:49

@curiouscat1987 I’ve been doing the exact same. I try to start off on my side but wake up in pain. When I wake up I move to my back with a pillow wedged down one side.

Penny2020 · 08/02/2021 14:04

Ladies, getting myself in a bit of a panic here. Had some spotting over the last few weeks. Last week it was just for maybe 12 hours, very light. I’ve now had it since Saturday. Still very light but it’s definitely there. I spoke to a 24hr midwife service who said as it’s so light I should leave it another day or so and call them back if it continues. But obviously now going out of my mind and convinced myself she’s not moving as much as she had been. Anyone else have any spotting or any advice?

rvms · 08/02/2021 14:39

@Penny2020 I had a tiny bit of spotting during my last pregnancy around 20 weeks but it was a one off. I have heard more consistent spotting is normal for some pregnancies. I think perhaps what’s important to keep an eye on is of course the flow but also the colour (ie is it period blood red). I also don’t feel mine is moving as much. It seemed to move quite a lot for about 2 weeks before the scan and since the scan can’t feel much. I don’t know if it’s really too early to count the kicks. The sonographer said baby was moving lots on the scan but I couldn’t feel it then. I didn’t feel my first kick until 24 weeks so can’t really compare.

northerngal20 · 08/02/2021 15:04

@Penny2020 ahh poor you, what a stressful thing to be going through. What colour is the spotting? I've had quite a bit throughout this pregnancy, mostly brown and I think it's coming from my cervix (I've got an ectropian), but it's really alarming even so. I'd definitely keep an eye on it, take some time to be still (+ maybe have a big cold drink) to see if the movements feel any stronger, and if you still feel worried then push to be seen, i'm sure baby is just fine in there but it's better than being anxious. Oh another thing, have you given a urine sample recently? It could be a UTI so another good thing to rule out.

Fightingtobepositive · 08/02/2021 17:08

I also have dreadful hip/pelvic/leg and everywhere in between pain. It’s awful at night when I try and sleep on my side.

If you are worried ability movements ring your midwife and just ask them to have a quick listen. Also I was told that there isn’t usually any pattern until 28 weeks, my little bump is all over the place some days he’s so quiet then others so busy. I get worried either way 🙈 xx

Sitchervice · 08/02/2021 17:34

@Penny2020 I was getting very light pink spotting it turned out to be an ectropian. I got an appointment with my actual GP who checked my cervix for this because I said thought I had an infection.

I'm not getting movements, but I have a front placed placenta. If you are concerned though maybe try and get a private scan?

Penny2020 · 08/02/2021 17:38

Thank you so much for all your responses ladies. It’s reassuring to know others have had similar. It’s been very light and almost non-existent this afternoon. I will see if I get any more today and if so will take your advice and push for an appointment or go for a private scan. Thanks ladies!

Nesski · 08/02/2021 20:33

Agree with everyone around back and hip pain when sleeping in one position for too long (not sure how long as I'm asleep, obviously 😂). I also just do the lean on pillow thing so tilted to one side, but I do get woken up due to awkwardness of the position and have to switch again!

@Penny2020 I've had brown spotting today but only when I wipe, it's the second time I've had it so not concerned for now!

Tatty1987 · 09/02/2021 16:19

Hello all

Had my 20 week scan yesterday and all good with the baby, all measurements were average and checks all done. So amazing to see! Only thing was my posterior placenta is a bit low lying so I have another scan at 36 weeks to see if it’s moved. I think a couple of you on here already mentioned this? Fingers crossed it moves!

How cute is this little foot picture we got, I’m so in love!

Plus, we found out we’re having a little boy 💙

Nesski · 09/02/2021 16:49

@Tatty1987 super cute, can't stop crooning over these pics!!! We are having a little man aswell, cannot wait!

Lovethatjourneyforme · 09/02/2021 18:17

Just wondering, what are you all planning on your baby sleeping in? By which I mean, blankets/sleeping bag/baby bundler? And if a sleeping bag, which tog?? I know there's lots of guides online but the UK weather is so unpredictable I just don't know!

We're in the process of decorating the nursery at the moment, all becoming a bit more real! Can't wait till it's done and I can get more organised 😊

lucieloos · 09/02/2021 20:03

@Lovethatjourneyforme it depends how warm it is in the summer...maybe just a nappy if it's as warm as last summer! Otherwise probably just blanket for me although have used sleeping bag with other babies. Probably 1.5 tog if fairly warm or 2.5 otherwise.

Snally82 · 09/02/2021 21:18

@Lovethatjourneyforme you remind me that there is still so much I need to look in to!!

PinkPlantCase · 09/02/2021 22:31

@Lovethatjourneyforme I also have no idea what baby sleeps with. There’s so many rules about things you can’t put in their cot etc.

Sitchervice · 10/02/2021 07:38

@Lovethatjourneyforme im probably going to do blankly and a vest in summer it gets very hot in my house. Then sleeping bag in winter because it then gets very cold. We have no medium!! 😭

Sadly no baby classes are running where I live just leaflets which dosnt help. 🙄 Can't ask a leaflet questions

TerryRose · 11/02/2021 20:02

Love seeing all the 20 weeks scan pics ❤️❤️❤️ finally ordered myself a pregnancy cushion, my hip on the right side was killing me and of course sleeping on my right side is the only way I can sleep , always was 🤣 so hopefully it will help

lucieloos · 12/02/2021 07:50

It's gone very quiet on here! Are most on the Facebook group now?
