As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

Thanks @Safxxx I'm still really hoping I'll get to use the birthing pool - my other two have been delivered in the pool and I can't imagine not using it. Sadly the delivery suit only has one for 7 rooms, where as the midwife unit had 2 between 4 rooms :(

I hope you're ok - hope your little one is just having a sleepy day! xxx

@Safxxx hope baby is all okay, hopefully he's just had a lazy night/morning today and all is well. Let us know how you get on ❤️

@BatmanBaby sorry to hear that, I was in a similar position at my 34week scan last week and was really disheartened. But I'm glad they still have a birthing pool on the ward & hopefully it'll be available for you to use. They can give you all wireless/waterproof monitors too so hopefully it won't feel too different to the birth centre xx

Newmumfeb2021 · 13/01/2021 14:39

@Safxxx hope all is well :)

I have had two instances when baby had a quiet night and following day, and when I sensed I needed to go to the hospital, I took a deep breath to relax, had a chocolate - and all the dancing in the tummy began! Chocolates specifically really stimulates my baby and makes it move, kick, punch! Second time when it happened, I had a chocolate straight away. I think babies have their quiet days as well. :)

Safxxx · 13/01/2021 19:31

Hi ladies, was quite busy at the Assesment unit so was waiting around for a long time, got home after 6pm 🙄
Everything seem's fine...but as a precaution they want me to come in for the next 3 days to be monitored, the Doc has also booked me in for a scan on Sunday. Xx

While there i noticed the midwife led unit is closed down, if i could recall when i went in for my GTT at 7mths it was closed then too.
So i guess with the ladies who were disappointed with theres, it seems to be a problem in lots of places.

jbx10 · 14/01/2021 07:59

@Safxxx so glad to hear all is ok ❤️ at least the additional monitoring & scan will give you extra peace of mind too.

Yep our local birthing centre closed a few months back too. Our main hospital does have one attached that is still open. I think they closed our local one down to be able to use as a Covid patient ward xx

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 09:22

@safxxx wonderful news that baby is OK, and the extra monitoring is good too. Least they are keeping a eye on you both!

Shame about the birth centre, makes me wonder of my local one is shut too as its attached to the hospital also.

I've woke up this morning to crazy discharge goung on, it's the shot like clear stuff like you get around ovulation. Not sure if it's another sign that things are moving on or just something to do with the antibiotics I'm now on.

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 09:38

@OnNaturesCourse My discharge has increased too, i am using panty liners during day/night

Char41zam · 14/01/2021 09:41

Just had a phone call with my consultant and I now have a date to go and get my cervix checked for how they are going to induce me ie just be able to break my water or put a balloon catheter into my cervix the day before so I have the hospital 2 weeks today and then I will get induced on the 3rd or the 4th of February! It’s all getting so so real now.

@Safxxx glad baby is ok xxx

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 09:43

@safxxx I wear liners daily anyway, and have been on the maxi ones for most of this pregnancy. Isn't pregnancy glamorous haha.

@Char41zam that's exciting... Really not long to go at all! How are you feeling now?

Char41zam · 14/01/2021 09:49

I’m the same I have been wearing pads throughout as I have had increased discharge so glamorous isn’t it haha! @OnNaturesCourse I am ok although was up most of the night last night with tightening and pelvic pain, I think it’s just getting to that time isn’t it? And like you said the other day I’m just fed up now and my body is as well!

How are you feeling? Xx

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 10:03

I'm OK, but I have a tonne of cramping going on and feel like I need to poop a lot...which is weird as I've been constipated most of this pregnancy. I feel like my period is due on, and I'm super tired so naturally my toddler has double her usual energy today lol.

babbit87 · 14/01/2021 10:08

@BatmanBaby oh I'm sorry you can't go to the midwife unit, it can be so upsetting when you've got your mind settled on how you want things to go. I remember bursting into tears in the middle of mothercare (blame hormones!) when I got a call to say I couldn't go into it with my first due to needing antibiotics for GBS. I can honestly say, midwives are amazing people who will bend over backwards for you whether you are in midwife unit or delivery suite. Still had use of birthing pool and birthing balls etc available if you ask.

@Safxxx hope all goes well in DAU xxx

babbit87 · 14/01/2021 10:13

@OnNaturesCourse sounds like things are definitely moving along for you, so exciting!!

BatmanBaby · 14/01/2021 11:15

Thank you @babbit87 that's really reassuring to hear. I'm feeling better about it now, just crossing my fingers the birthing pool is free when I go in!

@Safxxx so glad you and baby are ok, what a relief 🥰💙

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 11:37

Just got back from my routine 3wk appt with my midwife, shes made me very worried as said the growth has slightly dropped from last measurements..she tried getting me a urgent scan but there fully booked...so said stick to sundays scan and don't miss the heart monitoring every day till then...i'm trying not to worry but can't help it and i've been bursting into tears 😢i know these measurements are not accurate, so i'll wait for the scan and see what happens....sunday seems far off now

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 11:41

@Char41zam hopefuly things go to plan...not long left for you, in one way its good you got a date to look foward to, while for the rest of us its a waiting game. Xxx

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 11:49

@OnNaturesCourse usualy before due time our body starts preparing itself...bowels getting empty is a good sign along with others.
I've been very constipated...don't want to take my lactulose satchets as i can't stand it much...trying to stick to more fruit/veg but not working uurrggh
Awe bless your little one, its no suprise when were fatigued there full of beans lol
Hope she lets you rest 💜

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 11:53

@Safxxx can you get booked into a private scan at all?

babbit87 · 14/01/2021 12:05

@Safxxx I know its easier said than done but try not to worry too much, the measurements are so subject to interpretation.

With DC2 I ended up with regular growth scans as small bump (I had low amniotic fluid levels, probably due to HG) all along kept telling me he'd be small, then measured his thigh bone in a scan and recommend induction as told me he'd be at least a 9lb baby - he was born 6lb 13oz- turns out he was tall and skinny!

Mention your concerns when you next go in for monitoring in DAU - maybe they can squeeze you in for a scan in the spot? Xx

IamC · 14/01/2021 12:45

Just got an appointment letter for my pre induction covid swab which takes 48 hours to come back, half an hour before my induction appointment in a different town.

Piss up and brewery springs to mind!

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 12:53

@OnNaturesCourse i'll wait as its still reassuring their doing the necessary heart monitoring until then...also to me the movements are much better then yesterday and heart beat was strong.
Just need to wait what shows up at scan now.

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 12:58

@babbit87 thanks thats reassuring to know just shows they can be wrong......that place is fully booked i only got the sunday scan because Doc said its urgent. So i shall patiently wait for it. Xxx

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 13:00

@IamC thats a very close one 🙄

Muriel84 · 14/01/2021 13:53

@Safxxx I’m sorry what a rollercoaster 24 hours you’ve had. The fundal height measurements are so inaccurate, so do try not to worry. A normal CTG, good heart beat and active baby are all great signs. You must be exhausted from all these hospital trips. X x x
