As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Safxxx hopefully all will be ok xx
I'm sure it will be, one of my friends was measuring small so was sent for a scan and baby was absolutely fine, weighing even slightly over average, so belly size can be very deceptive, try not to worry too much 💙💙 heartbeat being strong and movements being better is very good xx

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 16:26

@Muriel84
@babydust2412
Thank you ❤
At hospital waiting to be put on heart monitor.
Deep down i feel everything will be fine, just can't help feeling anxious.
Lock down not helping, really miss not seeing my family...i know if i see my mum & sis it will just give me the strength to overcome this worry & stress.
I've not seen them since a couple of weeks before lock down...no wonder i'm all over the place....so much going on..kids remote learning from home is a challenge too. But neee to stay strong and focused...As this too shall end. Xxx

Char41zam · 14/01/2021 16:35

Hope all is well @Safxxx anxiety is so high during this time and your right not seeing family just adds to it, hard times will pass soon I hope xx

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 16:52

@Safxxx hope you're OK honey. Anxiety is high during pregnancy anyway without everything else going on.

I had to bubble up with my Mums household as I couldn't do it on my own. It's against the rules technically but both households are in total isolation anyway aside from my partner going to work. (he works 6 days a week 6am to 6pm so I'm on my own with the little one most of the time)

Stef92 · 14/01/2021 17:12

@Safxxx hope all goes well

@OnNaturesCourse you will "legally" be able to bubble with your mum once the little one arrives as there is a support bubble for people with kids under 1 and the household you bubble with can have more than one adult in

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 17:44

Thankyou all for the support ladies.
Back home now monitoring went well lovely strong heartbeats ❤❤❤
This little one will keep me strong bless him 💙

Newmumfeb2021 · 14/01/2021 18:55

@Safxxx I’m so glad everything is fine. Keep up the positive spirit! 🤗
Xx

Muriel84 · 14/01/2021 19:24

@Safxxx aw reading your post made my eyes well at the thought of hugging my mum. I miss her so much too it’s so hard! I’m glad babs is doing so well. So emotionally draining we need our loved ones around us.

I had my 36 week appointment. Measured 33cm worryingly and then went to growth scan. Measured small because no longer breech - head is way down in pelvis. Can’t believe it. Obstetrician said it’s getting ready several times. Baby is facing inwards perfect birthing position. Such a relief.

Appointment was tough tho cos we had to talk about partners not being allowed in if they get Covid. Confusingly if we both have Covid they’ll let him in. I’d just be devastated if he couldn’t come. X x x

jbx10 · 14/01/2021 19:30

So lovely to read all the supportive messages on here. Exactly why being in a group like this is so nice ❤️ such a tough time at the moment not being able to see families but we can all stay strong for the next few weeks. It'll be worth it when our little ones are here.

@Muriel84 that's fantastic news!! Happy for you baby is now in a great position and getting ready. Did they say they'll test both you & your birth partner when you arrive to the hospital to go into labour ? I think at the moment our hospital will just testing me but that could definitely change in the next few weeks xx

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 19:54

@jbx10 so true it makes so much of a diffrence talking to each other and relating to the similar symptoms ❤

@Muriel84Muriel84 Awe thats great news baby is in good position...
This growth thing is so frustrating, as the worries only increase with it.
Lets just hope their wrong and we all have a healthy baby at the end.
I asked my midwife about partners she said only to the delivery suite and they are allowed to leave for food/drink or a break.
I asked whats the situation after birth? She said most of the women are leaving from the delivery suite not so long after birth, unless somethings wrong we will keep them in, she said also if baby is small and weighing less the 5lbs 6 or 7 we keep you in too, as the risk of blood sugar going low is likely so we do more tests etc.
Lets hope the little ones are all healthy and us too, so we can leave soon after birth. Xx

jbx10 · 14/01/2021 20:11

@Safxxx so glad your appointment went well today but completely understand your anxiety around it. I'm sure you will feel much better after your scan on Sunday when they'll be able to give you more accurate measurements. Until then keep strong & focused great news your heartbeat checks were ok today ❤️

Our MW has said the same too. Hoping to discharge the mums ASAP providing all ok. If not partners can only stay for 2hrs after but from all the comments I have seen they are not strict on that at all an let them stay longer where they can xx

Muriel84 · 14/01/2021 21:33

@jbx10 @Safxxx thank you both xxx I was v happy to hear it’s head down. Shame my partner couldn’t be there. They wouldn’t let him in. Changed the rules since last week.

My hospital aren’t swabbing partners yet but might start in the next few weeks. If you arrive in labour it takes a while for swabs to come back so not sure what they do while they’re waiting. Would seem pointless to let partner in then send them away. I forgot to ask about leaving for food and drink. Apparently people can leave stuff for you at reception on the postnatal ward but you can’t have contact with them. Midwife said they won’t let first time mums go home from the birthing centre cos they need you to show that feed etc. She said I should be able to have a water birth wherever tho cos they have some extra blow up pools and they use wireless monitoring so if need continuous monitoring can wear it in the pool. I think they’re quite strict about partners leaving after an hour. X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 21:47

Crazy jealous of all you ladies who are finding out what is going on at your hospitals.

My midwife is clueless, well my midwife team are since I've never seen the same one twice. My birth hospital is a hour away, and all my scans and tests etc are being done at the more local hospital which is under a different council so has different rules and policies.

Safxxx · 14/01/2021 21:54

@OnNaturesCourse Thats crazy...i guess mine are a team working at the same local hospital.
I see them at our local surgery.
Was'nt there a option for you to give birth at your local hospital?

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2021 23:36

Yeh, there was but I prefer the other one as its much more modern and equipped with a maternity unit and NICU, shops, cafes etc plus I gave birth there last time. My local one has a ward and birth suite that's it.

But because of covid they prefer my scans to be done at the local one.

OnNaturesCourse · 15/01/2021 10:51

Had a scan to check my placenta today (NHS, already had a private to check) and it's definitely way out of the way now. Wee boy is measuring and weighing a good size, and is so head down that scanner couldn't see his full head or any of his face on the abdominal scan, had to get an internal one that showed he's really pushing down on my cervix and it's quite short (?)

Would explain all the period pains and back ache lately.

jbx10 · 15/01/2021 11:15

@OnNaturesCourse that is great news!! Such a relief for you. Definitely explains your aches and pains, I don't think you'll have much longer to go. I'll place my bet you may be the first one in the group to meet your little one😇

OnNaturesCourse · 15/01/2021 11:30

Just don't want him being too early cos I am not wanting a hospital stay too long for either of us!

If he can just stay put for another week or so I'll be happy lol.

Safxxx · 15/01/2021 12:10

@OnNaturesCourse Great News 😍

Safxxx · 15/01/2021 12:11

@jbx10 what are your tape measurements?
The ones the midwifes do.

Safxxx · 15/01/2021 12:19

@Muriel84 At 36wks your measuring 33?
I'm 34+5 and i'm measuring 32...
They are concerned about my babies growth...
These measurements don't make sense, apparently 3 wks ago i was measuring 31 so shes saying the growths dipped down.
I'll wait for the scan on sunday to shed more light...
@Char41zam whats your measurements?

Sorry i'm trying to tag all that have mentioned the growth problems.
As you might have guessed yes i'm still stressing about it...😩

jbx10 · 15/01/2021 12:27

@Safxxx I've never had any bump measurements taken from the MW as I was referred directly for growth scans so they've just used those. And throughout the scans she's been measuring just below the 10th percentile.

At 33 weeks she was measuring about 4lbs I think. Just waiting on next weeks scan to see where she plots on the graph to determine when they'll likely induce me.

I completely understand why it is stressing you, the way they have said a dip in the growth. But their measurements are so inaccurate! It can change from one taken in the morning to one in the evening. Have you got your check up appointment for heartbeat again today xxx

Char41zam · 15/01/2021 12:31

@Safxxx I have never been measured I get 2-4 weekly growth scans of baby and at the last one 2 weeks ago so was 40z shy of 5 lbs they said on the smaller side but still growing ok

pampero · 15/01/2021 12:41

@Safxxx I had my 34 week appt this week and the midwife said my bump was a little small by the tape measure, but because id had a growth scan a couple of weeks ago that showed all was fine and this week she could feel an active baby, heart beat was good, my blood pressure etc good she wasn't worried. She had said if I hadn't had the scan a couple of weeks back she'd have sent me for a growth scan just to check.

She did say the tape measure isn't the most accurate though, more just a tool to help them & scans are the more accurate & that as long as the baby keeps showing relative growth its OK (i.e. if its always small but showing steady growth that can be totally fine). She also said in my case bump may be small as I was fairly slim to begin with. So we'll see what it says in another couple of weeks.

I think wait and see what the scan shows & fingers crossed its all positive news. Seems like there can be many reasons bumps appear small and often everything is fine :) A friend of mine was told she was small all the way and birthed and had a very normal sized baby in the end!

I know its easier said than done to say try not to worry as its human nature, but hopefully the scan provides the reassurance all is well x

OnNaturesCourse · 15/01/2021 13:15

With my first I was measuring small all the way thro, then at 36 weeks my bump hadn't grown at all from my 33 week check up, so 3 weeks behind. Got sent for a growth scan and yep, baby was small but OK. Measured 3 weeks behind at 37 weeks too when I was induced, baby was 7lb 4.5oz at 38 weeks when born. So she certainly wasn't a small baby. They had told me to expect a 5-6lb baby ... but after birth I was told she'd likely have been nearer 8lb if I'd gone to, or past, term.
