As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Safxxx yeah I really don’t think I could cope with recovering from a c section and moving flat...

@jbx10 sorry to hear you’ve had a rough day. The third trimester is really hard. There were two weeks in December where I cried every day and I’m not normally someone who cries! I felt pretty panicked earlier today. Even a long bath didn’t calm me down...

Complete change of subject, has anyone been doing perineal massage?!

jbx10 · 10/01/2021 22:58

@Muriel84 sorry you were feeling that way too. I hope it is comforting to everyone to know there are others feeling the same way. It is overwhelming enough as it is plus the stress of all this horrible Covid business.

@Safxxx you are right - we've got this ❤️ final stretch.

I haven't been doing - not even thought about it actually I should probably look into it! Have you? X

Safxxx · 10/01/2021 23:26

I've not ever had perineal massage before, and i've been so lucky to never had a tear during my 3 natural births.
I hope i'm ok this time round too.

I feel quite sore there not sure if i would like to massage the area lol

Char41zam · 10/01/2021 23:33

@Safxxx true! Tomorrow is another day ❤️

Muriel84 · 11/01/2021 09:59

@Safxxx that’s amazing you’ve never had a tear! The MW in my antenatal class recommended perineal massage from 34 weeks. She also showed us some very expensive contraptions they can massage the area for you...

@jbx10 i had completely forgotten about it until yesterday but guess I will give it a go! 3-4 mins sounds ages. NCT website says to use oil... there’s enough weirdness going on down there without adding oil to the picture! X x x

babydust2412 · 11/01/2021 11:13

I've started perineal massage, I use a small amount of 100% coconut oil and do the massage before I get in the bath so I can then wash any left over oil away xx
I have also been feeling so hormonal just like you ladies, especially with the covid situation it doesn't help at all does it, but we are almost there now! ❤️❤️

Newmumfeb2021 · 11/01/2021 11:19

Hi ladies!
I had my 33+ appointment today (I am the last one in Feb I think) and my MW said, because of COVID they wont put me in longer for more than a day (if at all)! They will try to wrap up asap and like other ladies here have mentioned, they will also test us for COVID. If it comes back positive, they will send us back sooner. And she has also asked me to bring the food I like during the stay because she admitted the ward food is "rubbish" :D My baby is still breech position so MW has asked to wait until my scan in 3 weeks at 36+ to decide further course of action. Hope the baby turns!! :)

jbx10 · 11/01/2021 12:04

@Newmumfeb2021 do you mean they'll send you back home as soon as possible if you were to test positive? Are your hospital testing birthing partners at all or will they just test you? Fingers crossed baby has moved by then for you, cheeky little thing 🥰😇

@babydust2412 I'd never even heard of it but been researching it since it was mentioned last night. Looks like a good idea going to try give it ago! Xx

Safxxx · 11/01/2021 12:51

@Newmumfeb2021 yes my midwife also said if all is well they usualy send you home from labour ward asap.
Its if things are not well they will keep you and thats what i'm not looking foward to as hubby won't be allowed in ward. You still got time for baby to turn so don't worry. Xx

Stef92 · 11/01/2021 13:13

I have my 34 week appointment tomorrow so I'm going to ask about the situation with Covid and testing. I won't be seeing my usual community midwife though as she's on a course this month.

Newmumfeb2021 · 11/01/2021 13:43

@jbx10 yes MW said if someone were to test positive she would be sent home asap after delivery. In any case, they wont make anyone stay for more than a day. MW didn't say anything about testing the birth partner but asked me to start isolating now onwards.

She also said visiting hours are 2pm-9pm at my hospital and the husband/ birthing partner can come in and out to get food and other things if required. My hospital is in SE London.

Muriel84 · 11/01/2021 15:00

@babydust2412 that’s a good idea about doing it before a bath. You sound very prepared! I just completely forgot about it.

God it’s frustrating and baffling how hospital rules are so different in each hospital. I would love to be sent home from labour ward, I hope they’re doing that for everyone and not just those who are Covid positive! @Newmumfeb2021 how can the rules be so different in SE London?! I’m booked at uclh and they have no visitors at all. Which I understand cos obviously Covid is awful here and they don’t want visitors in and out on the tube and whatever. But yeah it’ll be tough if I have to stay in. Eugh so much uncertainty... x x x

jbx10 · 11/01/2021 17:25

@Muriel84 I feel your frustration! I know different hospitals will have different capacity / sizes etc. But if they could give your birthing partner a test before they entered I don't see why it would be a problem really.

Ours doesn't currently let any visitors throughout induction or post natal. I think they are starting to roll out more testing hopefully if negative they'd be allowed throughout xx

babydust2412 · 11/01/2021 18:03

@Muriel84 I'm just trying to make sure I'm really overly prepared, I'm so nervous for labour and the unpredictable elements that I think I'm trying to control everything I possibly can before to try and make sure birth is even a tiny bit easier xx

Safxxx · 11/01/2021 20:41

Don't know about you guys but i don't like hospital hot drinks unless there from the cafe..so i popped to poundland today and picked up cadburys hot choc
Nescafe white coffee cups
Theres 7 cups in each pack and all you need is hot water, which i'm sure upon request they can give a kettle in the room if not usualy there is a room for tea/coffees.
In the past i would always take afew of my trusted PG tips tea bags with me as their tea is not nice.
Thought i will let you know incase your fussy like me lol or if your patner wants a hot drink atleast he does'nt need to leave for one.
For some reason i've been off my tea/coffees in this pregnancy i only have tea once in the moŕning with my breakfast in the evening if i fancy a hot drink i usually have some hot chocolate.
So mainly bought the coffee and taking tea bags for hubby..i will stick to instant hot chocolate cups if needed.

jbx10 · 11/01/2021 21:57

@Safxxx thanks! That's a really good idea particularly for the OH for his coffee fix in case we're there a while. I've been off my tea/coffee too but the hot chocs are aGood idea xx

Newmumfeb2021 · 11/01/2021 22:01

@Muriel84 I dont think visitors will be allowed at my hospital either, I think she mentioned timings as to when husband/birth partner may be allowed inside to provide me with drinks and snacks and other things if required.. Maybe your hospital has more cases/ patients like Royal London and therefore they are stricter? :(

@Safxxx wow hadn't thought of that at all (being a fussy tea drinker)! I am not drinking too much caffeine either since the start of my pregnancy, so I guess I will be just having one from canteen/ cafe and I hope its only going to be one day (fingers crossed) :)

My MW also mentioned it will be very warm inside the ward so carry comfortable and loose change of clothes.

Muriel84 · 11/01/2021 22:21

@babydust2412 I’m the same! My main coping mechanism in life is to be very organised! I have made so many lists just keep ticking things off to make myself feel better. So glad I got my bags packed.

@jbx10

@Newmumfeb2021 yup they’ve turned half the main hospital into Covid wards/ITU. Maternity is in a separate wing though. I have my 36 week appointment on Thursday so will hopefully get to know a bit more about the rules.

Muriel84 · 11/01/2021 22:23

Oh I don’t know what my phones doing it deleted the line after @jbx10 sorry! I was just saying it’s really rubbish not letting partners in for induction. I hope my hospital don’t change their mind about that. Though I really don’t want to be induced! X x

jbx10 · 11/01/2021 22:34

@Muriel84 when will you find out if you'll be induced? I'm wondering when they'll make the decision for me, my next scan is a week on Thursday xx

babydust2412 · 11/01/2021 22:45

@Muriel84 yes oh my the amount of lists I've made this pregnancy have been insane, I've turned into such a control freak 😂 x
@Safxxx that's such a good idea!

Muriel84 · 11/01/2021 23:01

@jbx10 there’s no talk of me being induced yet it’s just something I have in my head! At the moment I just need baby to flip otherwise I have to have a c section. Currently still bum first.

@Safxxx thank you for the hot drink tip! I’m a fussy tea drinker.

I dragged myself to M&S today to get some fizzy Colin the caterpillars for hospital bag and they’d sold out 😭 x x

babydust2412 · 11/01/2021 23:09

I've been having so many braxton hicks and sometimes my bump goes hard and tight for a really long time, is anyone else experiencing anything similar? Xx

OnNaturesCourse · 11/01/2021 23:19

I've had that for about a week now @babydust2412

Actually had a few occasions where I start thinking things could be moving.

babydust2412 · 11/01/2021 23:25

@OnNaturesCourse me too it keeps panicking me that I'm going to go into labour xx
